Whitish star performs symmetrical acrobatics overhead for 4-5 minutes

My wife saw the small "planet-like" light first as she looked almost vertically overhead. I (her husband) looked up a minute or more later and also saw it hovering in the clear, dark sky. To both of us it seemed to adopt a fixed "central" or "home" location above us but would then very rapidly disappear and reappear in a new location that we estimated to be about six inches (on a ruler held at arm's length) away where it stopped for about 2 seconds. It then returned to its "central" location again for another 2-3 seconds before flitting away in another direction to a new location at the same angular distance as the first. This went on for around five minutes. If all of the object's/light's positions were connected with a line it would have been an approximate circle with a diameter of about 10 inches (on same ruler) or about 18 - 20 deg. arc.

How did it disappear? Over some minutes the "central" position seemed to drift toward the south (it continued its symmetrical disappearing-reappearing act)where it eventually dimmed out completely. It seemed to be at a pretty high altitude, was whitish or silverish, between a star and a planet in angle (no shape could be seen), it was completely quiet, and we saw no airplanes in the sky at any time during the sighting. The object's brightness never changed and it left no visible trail or contrail. Winds were off the ocean and very clear (of smoke) that night. We know of no earth tremors either just before, during, or after the sighting. We reported it the next day to Dr. Haines by phone.

Oval ring of red lights, flares and streams over Sausalito hills

Standing on the back deck facing west, I first saw a star that seemed alternately yellow and red. I thought it was a plane. Then I saw a plane fly past it, so it did not seem to be a plane itself. Then I saw a continual succession of what looked like falling stars. I thought that must be the answer, but as it continued, I realized it was very improbable. Another thing I saw was streams of red light that were looping around. I then thought it might be a a controlled toy drone which I've seen around here. But again the length of time it went on made that not seem likely and I couldn't explain the intermittenti ovals of small red lights as a drone. Then I saw several different phenomena: plumes of red and yellow lights that looked like flares or fireworks; red lights in an oval shape appearing and disappearing. The usual Sausalito fog seemed to part and a red whirlwind shape appeared.

This happened several times. All of these phenomena continued for at least twenty minutes.

I went inside and the time was 2:15 a.m. I wanted to stay and continue watching, but there was no sign of it abating and I went to bed. The 20 minute time frame is approximate. I was so transfixed, I don't really know how long I observed it. It could have been as long as an hour. I should have taken photos, but I thought I wouldn't be able to get a good shot. I am not a "believer" in extraterrestrial life, but what I saw was an something in the sky that I certainly couldn't identify or explain. The only ordinary explanation I could come up with was a fireworks display, but fireworks over the hills of Sausalito at two in the morning seems pretty far-fetched.

Glowing green object crashing

Looking west over the hills of marin headlands last night I saw a green luminous shape, like a shipping container, going down rapidly and steeply, there was one section that looked like flames, yellow, but he rest neon green. Space debris? The moon was bright, and this object was brighter.

Several white orbs of diffuse light circling and zig zagging above my house in Sausalito

I walked out on my deck on the hills facing the SF Bay in Sausalito and saw directly above me - 2 then 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 or more diffuse orbs of light in the sky. They were diffuse balls of light zooming at very high speeds in circle formations that would intersect making the overall pattern look like zig zags or figure eights. Also some of these orbs were popping in and out of my view in patterns of movements that were in shorter duration and appeared to me as not moving in circles. However I had the thought that these orbs were further away from me and I was only seeing on end of their trajectory or path. When I would shift my focus to the whole sky rather than trying to follow a couple of the orbs I then noticed that there were many more balls of light zipping all over the sky. I had the thought that they were flying at various altitudes.

Last night was a beautiful night with a light cloud cover, patches of clear sky and stars peeking through. All day the clouds over the Bay were unusual, multi-colored, and diverse formations, several rainbows appeared in the late afternoon, early evening. A summer thunderstorm was trying to express itself. A few drops fell. It felt like a Hawaii day and night.

As I was watching the orbs last night I wondered if they were absorbing energy from the clouds. The phenomenon stopped when the cloud cover dispersed and the moon rose into the sky.

At first I wondered if the lights were searchlights. I did not see any beams however. I only saw the balls zipping and circling about. They were not the lights from normal aircraft. I wondered if they were being projected from a ship/boat but as the lights were above my head and my house in on a hill half a mile from the edge of the Bay, it did not seem possible.

I am not a UFO buff. So I am not sure of the correct vernacular to use to describe what I saw.

I have done an internet search wondering if anyone else saw what I saw. But I have found nothing thus far.

HUGE UNIDENTIFIED CRAFT SEEN IN BROAD DAYLIGHT BY 2 WITNESSES WITH AMAZING DETAIL OF CRAFT DESCRIPTION AND NO DOUBT ABOUT WHAT IT WAS.

My boyfriend was driving up the hill to our apartment. As we went around the bend right above us we saw the what we would describe as the "mother ship". It just appeared above us and was hoverring.

As my boyfriend kept driving he turned to me and said, "Tell me what that is!!??" I could not speak so he repeated "Tell me what that is!!?? (even louder). Then I replied, "I don't have to tell you what it is...you KNOW what it is!"

It was at the very minimum two football fields in size and it was not moving at all, simply hoverred. It didn't make any noise, not a sound. It was close enough above us that my boyfriend said he could throw a rock and hit it.

This was the craziest thing either of us have ever seen in our lives.

According to both of us it was extremely similar to the "bigger spaceships" in the movie "INDEPENDENCE DAY". There were many lights on its bottom surface and had many exterior fixtures on it...it wasn't a smooth looking craft, it was very detailed and intricate in its design. The vision of this craft is so embedded in each of our minds due to the fact that it was so close to us in broad daylight that if we were sketch artists we'd be able to draw exactly what we saw.

As we continued around the tree lined bend it vanished without a sound, without a trace. It was as if this UFO's cloaking device or camoflauge system was temporarily disabled allowing us to see it ever so clearly. There is no doubt in either of our minds of what we saw. There is no mistaking what it was. It was no small light moving above us in a dark sky. This part of our experience is very clear to us and totally the same. For whatever reason the only discrepency in our account of this event is in the few hours following the sighting (time loss).

If we had not been watching a program on the history channel about UFO sightings, we might not have ever reported this event.

I am a 30 year old woman who is in real estate and property management and I have no history of mental illness in my family.

My boyfriend's background: Early thirties, business professional in marketing and advertising, ex-bartender/nightclub manager in SF, CA., some college, no history of mental instability.

approx.6 objects flying in formation. manevering in relationship to eachother breaking formation acelarateing then rejoining formation

i live aboard a boat in richerson bay. free from any city lights.i first saw the objects as agreenish glow moveing from west north west towards east i quickly aquired my binoculars and observed that there where points of light flying in formation the lights gave off streaming energy aft of the lights.at one point when the objects were at my 12 oclock position one object broke formation acelarated ahead then rejoined formation. i am an experenced sailor. and was raised in a flying famaly father pilot mother pilot brother same. there is a signature ot vessels . manuvering in a formation that is absolutley reconizable.i have witnessed rocket re entry be fore . metor , fire ball ect. these objects were on a course maintaining specfic altitude and speed.ie. flying !

friend and I were walking between the edge of Richardson bay and highway 101. Must have been between 9 PM and Midnight. it was foggy, ie, marine layer pouring over the hill separating our area from the pacific.

We looked up and saw stationary lights, I'd guess no more than 1000 feet up, probably 500. No sound other than the traffic on 101. It was at least 300 feet long, as it was dark no shape could be determined. Lights on the object were flicking on and off in random. At one point we saw a flume of thick white vapor (steam? smoke?) pumping out directly adjacent to one of its lights. As the vapor was not being batted away by turbulence we knew it couldn't be a Chinook Helicopter, and it was certainly twice a Chinook's length. Eventually it moved west out of vision. We were surprised this hadn't been seen by the volume of traffic on 101.

Next day in the San Francisco Chronicle (daily paper) it was reported that many had called in about 'something' and the official response was test firing of a Minuteman missile. They fired/tested them going west over the Pacific. Of course, this was either coincidence or absurd. We observed this stationary object for a quarter of an hour.

Per the article in the SF CHRONICLE (surely researchable) the exact date could be determined.

This experience made both I and my friend calmly believing we had observed a craft unknown to both us or the public. Silent, huge, hovering, no turbulence.
