Orange objects in formation spotted in the Bay Area, CA by a skeptic.

I live in a suburban area. At this time it was dark, with a few streetlights as well as lights on the walking paths into the neighborhood.

I was turning onto my street after dark and happened to look out the window and observe some lights in the sky. They were oval shaped and a little fuzzy, and it looked like there were about seven total in a formation. What struck me was that they were glowing orange. I live near an airport and these were not commercial planes. They made no sound and left no trails in the air.

My first thought was that they were Chinese floating lanterns. It was at this point I noticed they picked up speed (they had been sort of slowly meandering) and I rushed to park and get a better view. The experience up to this point had been about three minutes.

It took me 30 seconds to park and I never stopped keeping tabs on them. At this point I mentioned to my companion, who had been seeing all of this and was confused also, that they were picking up speed. I also noticed two other cars slowing down to point and look.

I ran under a tree and into open grass to get a better look. There was NOTHING in the sky, other than stars, the moon and a few commercial planes. I looked in the direction they were heading, and then frantically in every other direction from every angle, and saw no sign of them.

I don't really believe in aliens, but a UFO is not defined by being piloted by an extraterrestrial. I do know that it was very out of the ordinary, very strange, and very unsettling. I found it odd that I am able to find no one else discussing this online today, and no news stories.

I also feel I should add that when I finally went into my house, my cat was staring out the window and was visibly keyed up.

Undeniable stationary flickering speck

At 3:32 PDT on 8/19/07 near Edgewater Boulevard and East Hillsdale Boulevard I was on the walking path headed east with Max, a leashed dog I was walking. There was a loud propeller airplane, a unique design that had wings in the rear of the fuselage, probably flying out of San Carlos airport. I looked at the plane and noticed a stationary flickering speck in the sky. Foster City is the approach to SFO, and there is no way what I saw was a commercial aircraft. It was a stationary flickering. The weather condition was brilliant sunlight facing the object, a quarter moon visible, clear blue sky. I pointed to the object and mentioned to an elderly male and female couple with a small white leashed dog to look, and had a line of sight to the object, they mentioned it must be the plane that flew overhead seconds earlier, they made no effort to locate the object.

Two black spheres and a triangular craft, all with several red and white lights.

A lazy night of television watching was interrupted when I heard a loud plane flying outside my window. I tried to ignore the sound until several minutes had passed and it still had not subsided. I decided to investigate and went out on my 2nd floor balcony, which faces northwest, only to find nothing within my viewing range and the sound fading to nothing. Directly across from my balcony is another condo complex, approximately 75-100 feet away. The two run parallel and there is a long grassy lane that runs between them. I have a good view of the northwest sky and an extremely bright star (I’m not sure what it’s called, but it isn’t the north star because it moves beyond my viewing area late at night.) I decided to smoke a cigarette while I was outside, and after several minutes I could see two objects in the distance, which I thought were planes because I could see red and white lights. I continued to smoke until I noticed that the lights were closer and appeared to be much lower in the sky than I originally thought. I watched the lights move toward me, to the south, and when the closest one broke the plane of the twilight, the silhouette I observed appeared to be a black sphere shape with 4-5 lights on it. I did not hear any sound or see any headlights or green lights, and I my adrenaline was pumping as I tried to make sense of what I was seeing. I live near SFO Airport, so planes are regularly flying overhead. I then noticed that the second set of lights also appeared to be on a sphere shaped craft and both craft were flying in the same direction at approximately the same altitude. I watched as both craft appeared to fly in a straight line due south until they passed out of my view.

As I lit up another cigarette, I reflected on what had occurred and attempted to logically explain what I had seen. Not even two minutes later, something else caught my eye further north. A triangular craft that appeared to be slightly larger than the spheres came into view from behind a tree. It looked black (but it was difficult to tell with the twilight fading) and it had the same red and white lights, but the white lights seemed to be arranged in a rectangle from my viewpoint. I didn’t notice any sound, although I may have been too distracted to notice. I watched it head slowly toward the direction of the two spheres flight path. As it passed out of view, I frantically tried to call friends that lived south of me, but none of them picked up.

I genuinely hope that someone else saw this or can explain what I did see, because after talking with my friends, I know that I won’t be able to talk to people about this without some kind of corroboration. I have no photos and no other witnesses where present, just an unbelievable story.

Four people witnessed a plasma ball hover right in front of them as it changed colors and then it moved off.

This is a copy of the report I filed with MUFON.

It was an early summer morning, about 0345. Three of my friends and I were out on a second floor balcony, talking and smoking cigarettes. There is a large tree to your right when you're standing on this balcony looking out onto the street. The neighborhood is in a condo complex near the water in Foster City, Ca.  Anyway, we were chatting away, when out of the corner of my eye I saw this orb appear from behind the tree. It arced out from behind this tree from my right to left. I was the first to notice it as it silently hovered no more than ten feet away from us at eye level. It was about 8-10 inches in diameter.

The only way I can describe it is that it looked like a ball of plasma, the insides of it seemed to be moving. It was changing colors also, vivid reds and blues, pinks and orange; it was absolutely beautiful, like "living light". It didn't seen to emit light. It's hard to describe. It's like the light was internal, contained.

After a few seconds my three friends noticed it too. The conversation fell silent and all four of us just stood there dumbfounded, staring at it. I remember it seemed difficult to focus on, it's as if my eyes couldn't get a sharp look at what exactly it was. It hovered there for about 20 seconds, then it seemed to notice that we had noticed it (we all got really quiet and were staring at it at this point). The plasma ball silently floated away to our right and disappeared behind the tree where it had appeared from.  We stood there shocked. Nobody said a word for a minute that seemed like an eternity. I asked my friends "Did you guys see that?" and they said, "Yeah". None of us could explain what it was. The funny thing is, none of us ever really talk about what we saw that night. I'll ask them from time to time if they remember that night, and they do. None of us can come up with an explanation of what the hell we saw. 

Years later, i can't shake the feeling that there was some kind of intelligence behind it. It's hard to explain. The way it moved was very precise and deliberate. At the time, it felt like it was watching us. I think about it every day and hope to find out what it really is we saw that night.

Looking SE towards Orion, 4 orange lights suddenly appeared and streaked westward across the sky and disappeared.

Looking SE towards Orion, 4 orange lights suddenly appeared and streaked westward across the sky (about 60 degrees) and disappeared. They were in a straight line side by side and stayed in formation. The entire viewing lasted less than 2 seconds.

Two adults saw a green glowing box-shaped object with a trail track across the sky from about northwest to southeast. We were sitting in a car talking and it appeared over and behing some nearby homes. It tracked quickly from upper left to lower right sky and disappeared from our line of sight behing a house.

Very good witness, although she reported that she thought the object was traveling to the south. We believe the object was moving to the north, when viewed in the western sky. Object may have been a meteor, but we are uncertain, given the other reports we received from other parts of the U. S., Canada, and Brazil for this date. PD

Bay Area Sighting During the Morning of the Peak of Leonid Meteor Shower

This was during the peak morning of the Leonids Meteor shower. My fiance said he would call me at my house if he woke up and saw lots of meteors. He called around 2:30am to let me know that the shower was indeed living up to its hype. I woke my mom and we grabbed our jackets and headed outside.

After about 20-25 minutes or so, my mom went inside to grab some lawn chairs...looking up at the sky hurts your neck! Meanwhile, I was searching the heavens for more meteors. The weather was nice, but there was a bit of fog coming in from the coast. It was then that I saw the triangular shaped object moving silently against the night sky.

As an amatuer backyard astronomer, I am very familiar with the sky...meteors...comets, satellites and the like...and I know that what I saw was nothing of the sort. It appeared to have three "lights" with one in each corner. I put "lights" in quotes because they were not like any kind of lights I have ever seen on a familiar aircraft. Most planes and such have sharp, crisp looking lights. However, the lights on this craft were diffused...more like a glow. They were of an amber-red color and were large and round. They appeared to be directly under the craft and not on the sides.

I have no idea how high up it was, but it did not appear to be flying at a high altitude. I followed it as it traveled in a straight line until I lost it. Unlike other people's posts, this craft did not stop and turn abrubtly, but just continued on a straight path. I lost it in the sky because the object itself was very dark. Without the reflection of the city lights, I probably would not have been able to see it at all! I do not know what I saw that night, but I am of the mentality that it was some sort of government craft. In this day and age of terrorism, I do not believe that there is a way for ANY kind of foreign craft to be in our atmosphere without the government descending on it instantly and without everyone hearing about it. It is, however, an experience that I will remember and always wonder about.
