Star like yellow object that quickly accelerated before making a startling disappearance.

UFO sighting over Cloverdale California Tuesday August 4th 12:23am.

History of observer: • 56 years of age male, Senior Optical Engineer • Designer of high resolution astronomical imaging systems • Amateur astronomer and Astrophotographer for 41 years.

Planetary observation session was interrupted by an object that was not easy to dismiss as an aircraft, satellite, meteor or man-made space debris.

Observed was a -5 magnitude star-like object traveling from SE to NW at a speed slightly faster than the a typical fly over of the International Space Station. First spotted SE of the Sturgeon full moon passing and travel NW exactly between the moon and Saturn. It rose higher into the sky traveling at a constant velocity to an altitude of 38º to 42º above the "due south" horizon before its startling disappearance.

What was unusual about this object:

• Just before it disappeared from the sky it rapidly accelerated for 500 to 600 milliseconds.

• The rate of its extinguishing light after the rapid acceleration was startling. Not at all like a typical satellite darkening into the earth's shadow or tumbling in sunlight.

• Sighting occurred just after midnight and a satellite could not have been illumined by the sun.

• Color was white to slightly yellow and had a slight haze surrounding its star-like appearance.

• Westerly orbiting satellites are very unusual.

• To verify it was not local aircraft out of Santa Rosa or San Francisco a flight tracker app was checked within seconds of the sighting. No aircraft were in the air between SFO and the Oregon border.

He notified his sister with a text to verify time, location and document the event. This was only the second object the observer could not identify over his observing history.

White orb composed of strings of light in rural mountainous area of Sonoma Co., CA.

Sunday Evening – 10/7/2018 Highway 128 coming from Mendocino County travelling towards Sonoma County. As you approach Cloverdale the road becomes a twisty mountain road with hairpin turns. Towards the beginning of this stretch of road I spotted a large orb made of “strings” of light. I remember thinking that it looked spiderweb-like. It was very large like when the moon is close to the earth. Initially, I thought that it was some kind of natural phenomena like the Northern Lights. There was no shoulder to pull off on and it was dark. I kept driving in hopes of getting another glimpse of it.

I made many more turns and didn’t see anything. I thought that I wasn’t going to be able to see it again but soon again I did. The next time that I saw it. It looked like the beam of a huge flashlight. It began in a large circle and the bottom of the beam looked it when a spotlight is directed at a floor with a disc-shaped bottom. It was very bright and well-defined. Its beam ended well above the top of the mountain; much closer to the beginning of the beam than to land. Then, again, it was obscured from my view by a mountaintop.

When I next saw it next it appeared to be separate beams of light coming from a star. Very bright white light. Kind of like the beams coming from the Eastern Star on Christmas cards.

The next couple of times I spotted it it was as above.

When I was just about at the end of this torturous stretch of road I spotted it again and now there was a shoulder on the road and more light. I stepped outside of my car to take a picture. Once outside it had moved behind the mountainside to the right. I walked across the road to take a picture. I could visualize it but it was a if a dimmer switch had turned down the intensity. I snapped a pic. Not impressive but it was there.

As I headed down the access road to highway 101 the only thing I could see in the area it had been was what looked like a bright star lower in the sky than you would expect it to be. To my left there was another “light” at about the same height in the sky but it was yellowish in color and less intense. I’m not sure if these last two items were related to the orb and the beams of light. There were no other stars that I could see looking briefly.

Once home late afternoon on Monday I looked again at/for the picture I had taken along the way. It wasn’t what I remembered. It wasn’t discernable at all. I’m not sure if it was even the same picture because of this. If it’s not the pic I took, it was no longer on my phone.

On Monday I googled “light orb spheres” and found a pic that was similar to what I had seen and I’ll include it here. I couldn’t find anything else close enough to the flashlight-like beam and beam streams to include.

Background of observer: 58 y/o female, registered nurse. No previous sightings or particular interest.

Lights in sky move back and forth while other lights form patterns.

We live in a mobile home on private property at about 1,000 ft. elevation which is a couple of miles from the nearest town. There are virtually no streetlights and houses are far apart; hence, our view of the night sky is excellent. I often step outside in the evenings to gaze briefly at the sky--ever hopeful I may be rewarded with the sight of a meteor.

Early Friday morning (06/01/2013) between 1 and 2:00 am, I briefly stepped outside onto our front deck but, after checking the sky for a couple of minutes and seeing nothing of interest, I was just about to go back inside when a pair of bright stars (at least that's what I thought they were at first) in the eastern sky just above the treeline caught my attention. The reason they did was because they actually appeared to be moving AWAY from each other in completely different trajectories! As I watched, the brighter star (which was, from my perspective straight above the other, slightly dimmer, star) began to descend vertically towards the tree line. At the same time, the dimmer star started moving horizontally in a northerly direction. After going a little way on these separate courses, both hesitated, stopped and began moving back toward each other again.

They moved back and forth like that slowly for a few minutes while I stood there, trying to figure out just WHAT they were and HOW they were doing what they were doing.

I then dashed inside our trailer--looked briefly for my pair of binoculars (but couldn't immediately find them)--and grabbed my Canon XS-100IS camera before dashing back outside.

I was able to take a little video and a couple of still shots while I fiddled with the settings trying to get something documented on film; however, I don't own a tripod and the "stars" were so far away that the quality of whatever shots I was able to get was severely downgraded.

I went back in the house briefly, found my binoculars and dug my small flashlight out of my purse. I decided to walk down the driveway to my daughter's place, bring her back with me to my house so someone else might be able to confirm what I was seeing.

My daughter got out of bed and followed me to our house at the top of the hill and confirmed that she also could see these two "stars" moving back and forth.

Looking through my binoculars, I scanned a group of very small, very dim "stars" directly to the north of the first two and noticed, after "pulling out" the zoom function of the binoculars that these lights were arranged in a very organized-looking pattern -- resembling 2 triangles stacked one atop the other with their apexes faced in opposite directions (like a "Star of David"). My daughter also took a look at them with the binoculars and confirmed they appeared to have this pattern.

I returned to observing the first 2, brighter, stars and noticed the brighter one was changing colors from blue to white to amber (or red/yellow) in rapid succession. After about 15 minutes or so, when I glanced back at the group of dimmer stars which had been arranged in the "Star of David" shape when last I looked at them, I found them to have moved into a different pattern which resembled a wheel with a "hub" in the center. There were 2 "rings" of lights at that time -- one "inside" the other -- and what appeared to be one light in the exact center of these 2 "rings."

All together I (and later, my daughter) observed these "lights" exhibit inexplicable motions and patterns for nearly an entire hour. They were still exhibiting these characteristics when both my daughter and I went inside for the night and went to bed.

I was in the driveway looking south for meteors then about 45 degrees up I seen what I thought were two bright stars that suddenly appeared but then noticed they were slowly moving north. If I extended my arm and measured between thumb and forefinger they would be about one inch apart from each other moving in tandem and could not discern if it was one craft or not.

I called my wife out to see and by that time they had dimmed to the brightness of the other stars. We watched them go over head and to the back of us and they seemed to fade out when they reached about 70 degrees. I did not notice any airplane noise during this event.

First saw it slowly rising up above trees. Then it went slowly northeast across the sky until it was out of our sight.

It looked like a yellow orange flame with a milky white, cupped circular shape behind it. It didn't appear very large, not sure how high it was.

At first we thought it was some type of a fireworks that had been sent up, but it kept moving and staying just as bright. It appeared to really move slow.

One white light in the north and 10 minutes later an orange teardrop shaped light that was followed by two jets patroling the night sky

I was out taking a walk with my boyfriend just enjoying the beautiful night and I happened to see what I thought was a satellite in the sky, so I was trying to show my boyfriend what I was talking about when all of a sudden (left of where we were looking) there was a bright white light that was brighter than anything else around in the sky. We could tell the light was moving and that it was moving away and fast.

Almost just as soon as we had seen this bright white light it dimmed to nothing in the distant horizon. As if that wasn’t weird enough, about 10-15 minutes later I was by myself and I saw an orange teardrop shaped light in the sky (south of the white light.)

I stood there and looked at it for about 1 minute or so and then it just went out as if it hadn’t moved or went away, but it just dimmed out.

5 seconds (or less) passed and there were 2 fast planes/jets that cruised the sky kind of close to one another side by side which made me wonder if they were U.S. military.

bright red sphere moved radically in a clear starry night sky and we got the feeling that we were being watched after it disappeared.

my boyfriend and I were standing on a levy down by the river looking at the starry night sky. I looking out over the mountain ridge and noticed a reddish sphere in the sky moving left and right along the ridge so I said “what is that?” because there was no noise coming from it and it also moved unlike anything else I had seen before. I pointed to it and I had to ask my boyfriend again what it was and he said he didn’t know. When he said he didn’t know what it was either the red sphere jet back and forth in a couple of different directions in a radical fashion and then it blinked out and disappeared. We both felt as if we were being watched and got spooked out and went home.

2/12/08, 18:45, on nightly walk spotted disk in sky that appeared to be the size of a football field moving slowly across the sky.

While walking in our neighborhood at dark we spotted lights in sky that appeared to be two planes/helicopters, or whatever, flying in such perfectly synchronized formation that the lights stayed equidistant apart (something along the line of blue angel accuracy.) We realized after closer observance that it was one vehicle, not two. It was hard to make out at first, but could see it was saucer/disk shaped and at a fairly low altitude moving slowly across the sky. We guessed it was flying about the altitude a small plane would fly in our local area so we guessed it to be about the size of a football field across. The light to the right went out, blinked, and then came on again after a second. and then flickered on and off again. Then it turned westward while rotating around clockwise. It then disappeared northward as it turned counterclockwise and moved over the mountain range and disappeared from our view. (We deducted this because the light on the right side was above the other which made it seem to have turned that direction.)

Red ember-like object on barn roof.

9/1/2007 Last night I was driving up my driveway toward my barn which just got a new metal roof installed.

As I was driving up about 5 mph, I saw a red ember like item with a trailing red tale rise up from my roof and then extinguish about 10’ above the barn.

I thought this is impossible: a fire? I checked around and couldn’t find anything wrong.

Two lights in sky seemed to play "tag"

While travelling from San Francisco to Eureka, CA, at about 10 PM, my partner and I saw a single light travel across the sky; it was followed by another. These two lights seemed to play tag, one passing the other in a seemingly perfectcircle. We observed this phenomenon for about 20 minutes as we were travelling. A CalTrans flagger and a bystander that we passed were also engrossed in the lights as we passed them. I thought that it was a search light on clouds, but I could see no beam, and there were only spotty clouds. The lights seemed to be amorphous.

Amorphous "something" seen at night in the skies over northern California, 5/10/01.

I was with my girlfriend when we had this sighting in Cloverdale, CA, a small town about 85 miles north of San Francisco. She is a teacher and I am an engineer. When I can get out of the Big City (San Diego) I like to look up into the night sky. This night was cloudless, visability excellent. We were taking a leisurely walk when I looked up right at an amorphous, semi-transparent cloud-like light area (not lighted but lighter than the background sky) moving towards us at about 70 degrees in the southern sky. My first thought was that it was a flock of light-colored birds flying at night and I called it to the attention of my girlfriend. It became quickly obvious to both of us it wasn't birds. You could see the stars through it. It varied in its lightness throughout its area (maybe two thumbwidths roundish at arms length), like a group of thin clouds moving together. It wasn't an object or objects. It was amorphous. In the course of about 4 seconds it moved to roughly 70 degrees north (total about 40 degrees) and faded from view. Estimated height 500-1000 feet, speed maybe 200 mph. As this was taking place my mind was trying to put this in a compartment of the known and it completely failed. My girlfriend's response was kind of like "Well that was interesting." My response was more like "What the heck did we just see? That makes no sense. What the heck did we just see?" To reiterate, it was calm, warm, and completely cloudless that night.

Bright stroboscopic light slowly passes by within 100 yards, and leaves with an otherworldly piercing whistle.

I grew up in a small town in northern California. Cloverdale is situated 90 miles north of San Francisco, at the north end of Sonoma county it is surrounded by rolling hills and vineyards. The geyser’s (at one time the world’s largest geothermal power plant) sits about sixteen miles to the east. This area was considered sacred ground by the Indians of the area and they made trips there for healing and ceremonial rites.

My father worked at the geysers for about twenty years. During his many night shifts he and others had seen several un explainable lights in the sky. During the early nineties the area known as the geysers, along the borders of Lake, Sonoma, and Napa counties was known as a UFO hotspot. I had many sightings alone and with other people beginning around 1989.

This particular event happened in the summer of 1992, along the road to the geysers at roughly 3 am. I was with two friends C and G who were parked along the side of the road. We were on a slight bluff overlooking Geyser’s creek, facing up the river valley towards the east and the geysers. Suddenly C. or G. said, "What’s that?" There was a super bright white/blue stroboscopic light, blinking two or three times a second heading just towards us from up stream. The light appeared suddenly from a hill around a bend in the river. It was slowly following the path of the creek, at a very low altitude and slower than a plane. It was lower than the tops of the hillsides on either side of the river valley, maybe 100 feet high… It kept getting closer and closer and all I could see was the light blinking almost hypnotically… The light was so bright that one couldn’t make out a shape. It was as if there were no craft, but only a light. Eventually the light reached where we were and passed us just above the tree tops and disappeared behind the hill to the west. It was heading in the direction of town… It floated by extremely close, within a hundred yards or so and we all noticed that it didn’t make any sound… none… zero… if it had been a plane or a helicopter or whatever we would have heard it the entire time we saw it, it was that close.

This is where it gets weirder. My friends (who themselves are avid ufo observers) got in their car and turned around to try and follow it. I was left alone with my truck. I went to relieve myself behind my truck, feeling quite dismayed by what we had just seen. All of a sudden I heard a sound that seemed to be the birds in the trees chirping in unison! Now this is at three in the morning when birds do not chirp. Suddenly, the chirping became louder and so intense that I could feel the vibrations turning my stomach, not unlike when at a concert, the bass rattles your pant leg. Although this was an otherworldly sensation, the chirping was at such a vibratory wavelength that it made me feel as if my head were going to implode… I almost fell to my knees from its force… slowly it faded, sounding like a cross between a flute and a whistle. That is the closest description I have of the sound….

Luminous egg see over The Geysers east of Cloverdale, CA

At approximately 12:15am PST on June 15, 1983, my friend Paul P. and mysef were leaving a mutual friend's house and spotted a luminous egg shaped object slowly descending towards the eastern ridgeline. This would place the onbect roughly over The Geysers, a famous geothermal field run by Unocal Geothermal and PG&E (which was originally developed by my grandfather and his mercury mining associates, and curiously enough also where my father worked as production foreman). This object made no sound, was surrounded by a faint glwoing aura and left a glowing luminous train which gradually tapered off to nothing. Both Paul and myself stood on the front porch watching the object slwoly slip behind the ridgeline, as if it was coming in to make a nice, gentle landing. Once the object slipped from view, both of us seemed to snap out of our amazment induced shock and proceeded to verify that we had both seen the same thing. I have personally seen 14 UFOs in my life, 4 of which I cannot dismiss as some other phenomena. These 4 sightings, all of which were witnessed by at least one other person, all occurred in/near Cloverdale, CA. Perhaps the geothermal energy production units at The Geysers are of interest to visiting species...
