Tonight, we saw a stationary, dimly-lit orb or sphere 1/3 size of moon in SW sky having possibly six total vertical, shallow grooves.

My husband and I live in Loma Linda, California. We sometimes hike in the local hills at night. We have seen a UAP tonight at 9:30 p.m., approximate map location 2PQV+6F which is stationary, spherical, dimly lit, hanging low in the southwest sky, maybe 1/3 the size of a full moon when seen in the air. It has vertical grooves at equal distance from one another; judging from the three that are visible, there are possibly six all around. These grooves do not extend to the top or bottom of the object, and are shallow. They appear as symmetrical narrow wedges or slices. The object is not shiny but dull in appearance, similar to how the moon looks. There are no lights on it. At about the 7:00 location on the sphere, the object is shaded, as if the lighting is reflected from somewhere onto the opposite side. It is seen most clearly through binoculars or, better, a spotting scope. With the naked eye, it looks more like a smudge in the sky. In the scope, it is absolutely clear, and it is perfectly round. We have seen this on one other occasion, both times on night-time hikes in our local hills on a mostly clear night with no moon. Our phone photos are very poor. We could not get photos through the binoculars or the spotting scope.

Both of us saw a round white object like a full moon except dim and about half that size at 30 degrees at 10 p.m. while night-hiking

My husband and I were on a night hike in the hills behind Loma Linda, California, around 10 p.m. The trail begins at the very end of Crestview Drive, heads uphill, and becomes a fire road about 0.2 miles ahead. Near the fire road juncture is where we first viewed what looked like a white smudge in the sky, about the size of my thumbnail when stretched out in front of my face.

Since we often name the stars and constellations to each other, we were doing this as we walked along when my husband first spotted this object fairly low in the southern sky. It was not super bright, but soon I saw it, too. We could think of nothing in the sky that would look similar. My husband thought it could possibly be over the area where March Air Force Base is.

We both took pictures of it with our cell phones, but the spot was blurry in them. It did not move at all. After about 30 minutes of watching it, we walked back down to our house to retrieve our spotting scope and binoculars. When we got back up there, the object was still there. We were amazed to see, in the spotting scope, that the object appeared distinctly and precisely round, white with slightly shaded gray edges, exactly as a full moon might look (apart from the topography of it) if dimly lit and about half the size. Unfortunately, though we tried, we were unable to photograph the object through our spotting scope.

We decided, because of its possible location near March Air Force Base, we ought to notify some authority, so we called our local Sheriff’s Department. They sent an officer to the top of Crestview Dr. and we hiked down to meet him there. He was very interested, but said his department was too busy to allow him to walk up to where he could see the object, which was not visible from where he met us. We walked back up, and the object was still there. We finally had to leave, and unfortunately have not had the opportunity to hike back up there to see if it's still there. We have been dealing with an electricity outage at our house due to the major fires in the Los Angeles area.

We also called the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, and they referred us to the phone number for the UFO Hotline. We called and left a description on the message machine. Someone from that hotline contacted us a day or two later, and we again gave a detailed description of the sighting. That man asked us to submit this detailed report on your website.

We are not UFO enthusiasts, and do not believe we have ever seen one before. But this struck us as very unusual, and we still have no idea what it was. We would love to know.

I am a retired RN and my husband is a partially retired rheumatologist, emeritus professor, and medical research scientist. We are not astronomers or anything close; we just enjoy observing the night sky.

UFO SIGHTING

ON Thursday March 5, 2015 driving on my way east on Benton road in Loma Linda California.
The time was 1:00 p.m.
At a stop sign we stopped on the red light, I looked up thru the front windshield and
Saw these very very shiny lights. 5 of them.
I thought maybe they were drowns. But never saw a drown so was not sure. My husband
Looked and only saw one , I kept looking till the light turned green on the stop light.
Down the road a short distance was another stop sign, and was red, so we stopped and waited,
Again checking up in the sky. Again they were still visible and exceedingly bright.
The signal change and we had to go forward, again another stop light, stopped and this time
I looked out the side window of my car and the front window too. This all took about
1 to 1 ½ minutes. I could see that two fo them had some of them had a vapor trail.
My husband said they were moving west ward. I was not sure by then as I had to keep driving.
I am not sure what I saw. UFO’s or something else. But for sure I did see 5 of what ever they were.
They were so bright one could not help but see them.

sighting of an extraterrestrial being

My fiancee and I were driving north on the 210 freeway from Loma Linda to Highland around 10pm. Suddenly something moved across the freeway just in front of us from right to left, but never made it to the center wall...it just vanished into thin air. It was obviously a living creature approximately 12 to 13 feet tall and extremely thin. It ran with a speed faster than I can even estimate. I have seen things before and have UFO sighting experience but my fiancee is traumatized. She said "I have never believed in UFOs or anything of that nature, but I know beyond any doubt I saw an Alien being". It was also slightly transparent, as we could see throught it as it ran in front of us. Even though I am a believer and know what I have seen in the past, this has disturbed me. We didn't talk much about it at first, I think we both wanted to pretend we didn't see it, but she will not drive that stretch of freeway alone at night now. We've decided we need to talk to so! meone...but who?

Sphere creating light all around it changing size and shape when it moved.

I had to leave early in the morning, around 3:45 AM, for work and I spotted a bright pulsing light comming from the South East over the canyon. The object changed color very rapidly, and changed size with every burst of color. This object did not have lights on it, it created light all around it. When this object moved it change into a bow tie shape. This object was strange enough for me to want to video tape it so I did. The tape is about 5-7 min long.
