Saw an unknown object through telescope pass in front of the Moon during Lunar Eclispe

Date: 26 May 2021 Location: Downey, CA. Lat. 33.928N Long. 118.0134W Elev. 37m Time: Approximately 02:52 PDT Temp. 62°F, RH 93% Mostly Cloudy Wind Calm I've been an amateur astronomer for 18 years and it was also a hobby of mine for a few years growing up. This is the second telescope I've owned and have had it since January 2003. I've viewed 6 planets with it, Orion Nebula, star clusters, and at least a dozen total lunar eclipses. I've seen the ISS and the Space Shuttle Orbiters docked and undocked through binoculars and with the naked eye. I've watched the Geminid Meteors a half a dozen times and have viewed several comets. I'm familiar with most of the Northern Hemisphere constellations and the stars in them visible to me. I'd like to think I know what I'm looking at in the night sky.

I was viewing the beginning of the umbral phase of the total lunar eclipse through my 6" Dobsonian, focal ratio f/8. It has a resolution of 0.77 arcseconds. I was using a 25mm Plossl eyepiece which yields AFOV = 1.2° (Actual Field of View) at 48x magnification.

The umbral phase of the total eclipse began at 02:44 PDT (local time). I expected overcast skies so I didn't bother to even check conditions until 02:40 PDT. Even though the sky was mostly cloudy the Full Moon was visible through some light haze. I quickly set up on my front yard but then had to move to the driveway. By this time the Moon had already began to move into Earth's shadow (umbra) at about the 8 o'clock position on the Moon's face. I quickly brought the Moon into view through the telescope. The Moon covers about 0.5° in the sky and fills about half of my field of view with the aforementioned setup. I took a few picture with a digital camera just by holding it up to the eyepiece of the telescope. By now it was about 02:52 PDT. I took another look to see if I had to adjust the telescope to keep the entire Moon in view. This must be done every 1-2 minutes to keep it centered. As I looked with the entire Moon still within the field of view I saw a very small black o! bject travel across my field of view in a straight line from right to left very near where the equator would be. This took about 3-4 seconds. There were no lights on the object and it was only visible when passing in front of the moon. A characteristic of a reflecting telescopes is that they invert the object being viewed 180°. So top is bottom and left is right etc. So in reality it was traveling left to right or east to west. It was in focus and was too small to accurately determine any shape. I continued to view the eclipse, adjust the telescope as needed, and take a few more pictures. Then about 10 minutes later I saw the same thing again. By about 3:15 PDT the sky was completely overcast and the Moon was no longer visible.

I did some calculations using the distance the Moon was from the Earth at that time 357,422km and the resolution of my telescope 0.77 arcseconds. The smallest object I can see at that distance would be at least 1,330 meters which is 0.82 miles. I have heard other reports where people said what they saw was larger than this. The largest object in orbit is the ISS which is 109 meters and orbits at about 400km from Earth. I thought it could possibly be small satellite thousands of miles high but they all orbit in the opposite direction than this did.

A solid round(luminate) green light with no sound, I'm not going to lie I was kind of scary.

A solid green light (highly luminant) no sound, Round and bigger then A regular aircraft light, I'm not going to lie I was kind of scary. Moving kind of fast as it did pass pretty close over my location, And moving from South East to North West at a constant speed, So from my left to right heading out towards the ocean, Strangest u,f,o, sighting I have ever seen, And I do look up a lot. This is my first legitimate sighting, Made all other sightings look amateur.

I was washing my car at the time while on the phone. I look up to see a bright light, brighter than any star in the sky stay in one spot for a second then fade away. I did not see any movement or pulsation, just the fading out. It was a lone, white light.

Bright Light made fast movements in the sky

Around 11:30 PM, saw a bright light to what I thought was a star just really bright, then as I was looking and observing the object moved very fast up and down and from side to side, then would station itself for hours then make movements up down and side to side, I would notice planes and other smaller planes fly by them with no recognition from either crafts. noticed the craft move very high and stay station there for the remainder of the night, i went to sleep woke up around 4:00 am and it was still there. Next day woke up and it was gone by daylight. I did notice at one moment the object broke into two the became one again a pattern of lights turned on in a circle then turned off the same way it lit up which was one light by one light at a time until a full circle then turned off one light at a time until the light was one bright light confusing as hell but i saw it. I could also see it spinning you can see the light spinning around.

NE of Downey, saw a light shine like a star; it was mostly blocked by the high end of some tree leaves. As time went on it slowly rose above the tree until it was completely visible. It continued to slowly move up. It could have been a drone, but I’m not too sure. It looked far away, like in the Temple City/Arcadia area.

White egg shape object high speed at (jet speed or faster) high altitude with no sound or lights

Flying north to south at a altitude of a commercial plane. White egg shaped object originally thought a shooting star until I realized there was no glow around the object, figured a bird but how high it was and the speed couldn't have been a bird. To my best knowledge the speed had to have been of a fighter jet or faster but i heard no sounds what so ever. I saw it for about 10 secs until it disappeared into the dark sky.

Bright light shining towards what seemed to be a cloud glowing green that remained brightly lit while object flew away.





Daughter looked up into the sky to a bright object. She called her father. He observed a bright white spot light like light shining into a forming shape that seemed to resemble a green beam glowing thru a cloud. Stood there watching the light while daughter rushed to call me and grandma out. While rushing out to see we watched the stationary light break away from the cloud. Moving slowly what looked like backing away from the cloud. The light keep moving and dimmed but also elongated vertically and faint. All the while the green glowing cloud like shape remaining quite bright long enough for me to go get phone and snap a few pictures.

Saw a fast moving object in sky in the east for 30 seconds, or so......no nav. lights.

At 05:45 am, I went to the golf course. Was walking and looking east and saw Venus in the sky. Just under that was what looked to be a high flying satellite or a high flying aircraft. There were no nav. Lights.

Suddenly, it sped up real fast and made a 20 degree course change and went out of sight.

UFO sighting over Los Angeles, 2013.02.09 at 3:40am

We were driving on the 105 freeway east towards the 605 south interchange when me and fiancee spotted something off of the Bellflower Blvd exit. It was a bright ball of light, a little bigger than the street lights, floating at a level no more than two light post stacked up against each other.

It was the brightest object in the area. Keeping in mind that this is Los Angeles it rules out a star (both due to its proximity off the ground and the light pollution). We have seen plenty of helicopters and airplanes and that object was neither.

With the manhunt for this cop killer I know that anyone reporting this to the authorities would have been turned away. What makes this impressive to me is that my fiancee has been a long life skeptic, until today. We cannot claim that it was a spaceship with little green men in it, but it was a UFO by definition.

While swimming in our backyard pool, my wife and I observed an object very high in the sky directly overhead traveling west to east. The object was oval silvery white and not glowing like the other stars in the night sky. The object was traveling much faster than any commercial jet we normally see in the sky. We watched it until it faded from sight.

It was a rectangle craft that looked pretty normal first but turned out to be something very different.

I was driving home from an Angel game one night and was just minding my self.

Then when I was looking at a couple of stars I noticed they were perfecly lined up. I was going to tell my mom but stoppped knowing it would be brushed off as an illusion. The lights seemed to be moving a little slowly.

We started getting on to the off ramp of the free way,and a tree obscured the ufo. When we got away from the tree the lights were gone and nothing was in the sky,it completely shocked me.

Bright, discoid or shallow cone-shaped object in full daylight.

While out taking a walk during the afternoon break at work, I noticed this bright, metallic-looking object moving across the northern sky at a leisurely pace, perhaps a third way of the way up from horizon to zenith. At first I thought it was a helicopter, but as I kept watching I realized its profile was too round and solid.

The sighting lasted the greater part of a minute as it crossed my field of vision from left to right.

Too late, I decided to photograph it and snapped 3 shots with my pocket camera. In the last photo the object presents a different profile and is seen juxtaposed above an airliner. It disappeared from view moments thereafter.

Thisn happened on saturday at 3:00 pm, 2 crafts with the shape of a diamond appeared frpm the north, then another 2 appear kind of on the east, and all of a sudden they started to circle around each other like playing in the sky, then on the opposite side one of the crafts moved to joint another craft and they started to circle against each other, then one of the start shape objects started to flash at me with high intensity light, there was another person with me but he was only able to see the ones that were on the oposite side, he even made a comment that these could be devils or alliens.

But about 4 weeks ago and also on a saturday a hughe display of crafts was visible, my daughter was able to count at least 25 but I think that there werre at least 50 or more, this was visible by at least 10 people, my daughter, her boyfriend , 2 military men that are next door neighbors, 4 christian missionaries, 1 girl that lives next door, this girl even mad efun by yelling at the to "TAKE ME PLEASE".

The most incredible thing is that I was told during the night that they were going to be sending me signals very soon and that was only a few hours before the sighting.

Now I am confusse because I can actually communicate with them, when I concentrate they appear with their flashing lights, and I believe that its only me and those that are with me that are capable of seeing them.

One last thing every time I see these objects they always form geometrical shapes in heaven, one time they flew over creating a Hexagon and the last 2 times they created perfect triangles.

Orb hovers for more than an hour

I was golfong at Rio Hondo golf course. Our tee time was 9:30. While walking to the second tee I looked up into the sky because the course is in the airports flight path. While looking up( about 75 degrees upward) and facing North, I noticed a shiny orb in the sky. I told my friend, who had a hard time seeing it without polarized sunglasses. As I continued to look around, another one appeared higher and to the left of the first. And finally a third appear almost directly overhead. The second and third one stayed for about 10 minutes. However, the first one I spotted stayed within visual range (never moving from its relative position) for more than an hour.

3 lighted cylindrical vertical objects in eastern sky

What Is This? December 25, 0:26 I looked out my window to sky toward the East and saw a helicopter, and as I looked closer, I saw further in the distance 3, hovering, cylindrical, lighted objects (looked almost florescent), which were hanging vertically. (about 3 inches long, measuring with my thumb and first finger). I went outside to look at them closer and they just hung there. I thought they were going to make letters so I ran in to get my camera and ran back outside. They had moved to the North about the same distance in the sky, one then started to move from vertical to horizontal, to the left, very quickly. Then it disappeared directly to the North. I was only able to snap 2 shots and only captured the image in one photo. The photographic image shows an additional circular globe. All the images then just disappeared.

3 separate pairs and one single object, separate but similar movements and trajectories.

1/31/2009. Approx. 9:00 PM, Downey, CA. I went out to my car to go to the market. I always look up and watch the moon and Venus (earlier this month or late last month you could see Venus, Mercury and Jupiter up there). Anyway I was looking toward the southwestern sky, then instead of getting into my car I started looking up at the dipper in the southeastern sky and wondering which stars made up the handle. A few seconds into this I notice 2 white objects, round but not sure if spheric, way up high in the sky, almost blending with the stars, but la bit larger and not as bright. As I looked up the two objects seemed to be about the width of 2 fingers apart and moving west at an angle of maybe 25 degrees. No blinking lights, no sounds. As they passed what would be an imaginary line dividing the S/E and S/W sky, one seemd to move either upward or south and I lost sight of it, while at the same time watching the second one, which seemed to linger in a slow change of direction and began moving in a pretty much straight line toward the northeastern sky. I followed its trajectory until somewhere high in the N/E I lost it. As I turned to look back south, I saw 2 more, similar objects, same direction of travel initially as the first pair. This time, the lower object continued toward the west, I believe I saw it looking sort of reddish, I kept looking back and forth between the two, then lost sight of the one headed west. . I looked back and saw the top one now turn also toward the N/E direction and followed the same trajectory as the one other one from the firts pair. I thought that was strange movement for what I thought at first might be helium balloons from a party maybe. But the night was still, the leaves on the trees around me were not really moving, unless there might have been some high winds way up in the sky. But it they were balloons and there was wind that blew them from the S/W to the N/E, why didn't BOTH objects get blown N/E? How could one go west and another sout! h up jus t upward? So I don't think they were balloons, and they didn't look like nor behave like airplanes that I know. Anyway, I saw a THIRD pair coming from the same S/E area, same trajectory as the other two pairs, but this pair did not go as far west as the first two pairs. This third pair seemed to separate almost due south from my vantage point, not disappeared form sight maybe going further south or just "up" and the other took the SAME trajectory as the other 2 going N/E. Finally I saw ONE SINGLE object coming again from the same S/E location, went twestward o about due south from me, turned and travelled toward the same N/E direction as the other three. That made FOUIR going N/E, ONE went west and TWO went either south of me or just "up." I think I can rule out party balloons and I think I can rule out airplanes because airplanes would need a wider area to change directions like these did. What else they could have been I don't know. I just did not see any details on the objects, such as lights, lines, windows, etc. - just a roundis;h-looking object. By the way, these were not moving slowly like a balloon might be, and as they travelled N/E they seemed propelled and not just blowing in the wind! If this is what an UFO does then I saw 7 of them. If not, who knows what they were! But they WERE!

Funny shooting star.

It appeared to be a shooting star. What struck me was how bright and low it was. I lost it behind the leaves of the neighbors palm tree. By the time I moved to clear the view I lost it. Now it was not coming in at an angle. It fell straight down, I don't know if thats normal...I just never seen one do that.

I'll report this and see if anyone else saw it. I just hope it wasn't a plane.

we are not alone in the universeI really do understand how embarrassed it using solid propellant rocket for propulsion.

I just what to say that I have seen real UFO my self. I Tell you what I have seen on January 2 at 8:28 AM 2008 I was going to Vons grocery store at Downey California and I notice four UFO in low altitude hovering in straight formation over head. I thought that was seeing things. I ask an shopper that was leaving next to me and asked her what is that over head and she only stated that they are kites, others people did looked up and did nothing but stair for a moment. People that did seen what have seen just went on with there business. I was amazed what I have seen I look a closer look and notice orange orb hovering over head and a star light object at mush higher altitude hovering next to it. This was taking place of a period of ten to fifteen minus. After that I seen the conventional aircraft flown buy at low altitude heading south it was a twin engine propeller driven aircraft. Whatever they are, we are not alone in the universe. As for the other that seen this I really do understand how embarrassed it may be to tell other what you seen in fact no body would believe us anyway like the Arizona Lights . This really changes me and my prospective about religion and as for science goes we are still in the Stone Age using solid propellant rocket for propulsion. It first appeared very low, looked like a clear plastic ball with a burning fire inside. When we first saw it it looked large and was flying low. As it moved rapidly over, it began to get smaller and then paused in one place for about 3 or 4 minutes. It started to move again back from where it started from then it disappeared. I caught about 13 seconds of video on my phone and 2 still pictures.

The silver shiny object.

I was driving my car down a remote road in a red rock canyon. It was partly cloudy day. I was driving slow trying observe some deer in a desert area. My eye caught a flash in the sky. I looked up as i was driving thinking it was a reflexion of a plane. The I saw a oval cigar shaped object moving about the same speed as my vehicle. I observed this object as a silver shiny abject. Then I though there was no such plane that had this kind of shine to it. I stopped the vehicle to look at this more in detail. I had a pair of binoculars. When observing this alien aircraft through binoculars I could see that it was huge. It was really at a high elevation. I could see what look like several windows on the side of this thing.

What I didn't understand was how it was flying through the air at this speed and shape. I came to determination that what ever this was I could not identify.

I stood there and observed for a couple of minute and at instant it speed grew and then vanished. I don't really talk to people about this because they would prob. think I was high or crazy.

A ORANGE BALL OF FIRE CRUISING AT AIRPLANE SPEED FROM NORTH TO SOUTH AND APPEARED TO GO WEST WHEN WE SEEN THE OBJECT EITHER DROP WHAT WE ARE CALLING PLASMA BALLS LIKE 2 PIECES OF IT FELL TO THE EARTHS SURFACE. IT LOOK LIKE IT WAS OVER LAND ,THEN OUT OF SIGHT. I WAS VERY SURPRISED THAT I NEVER HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT IT ON THE NEWS OR RADIO. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT COULD'VE BEEN A PLANE GOING DOWN BUT IT WAS FAR FROM THAT. I WANTED TO GO AND LOOK BUT WE HAD NO IDEA WHERE EXACTLY THE PIECES FELL OR HOW FAR, BUT IT LOOKED CLOSE. 4 orange-reddish objects lights in the sky traveling in non-static formation @ equal speeds and change in appearance

I first observed 2 objects that I assumed to be 2 aircraft flying in close proximity (there are always aircraft nearby at all times due to LAX flight paths being nearby) but then I immediately realized that the light's color was wrong since it was an orange/orange-red color (not white, red or green as aircraft use) and they were traveling at what I observed to be exact courses and speeds.

I then realized that it was not just 2 but four objects traveling in a formation with one in front , the 2 in the middle (still traveling together in parallel and the last object about the same distance from the middle two as the first was and all four traveling at an apparently equal speed.

All four objects were of the same color light as the first 2 I had noticed and I also realized that the seemed to flicker a little, almost as ember that will sometimes escape from a wood fire will tend to do.

I realized that this was something very unusual so I went inside my home to get my brother and let him see these same objects to see if maybe I was jumping to conclusions to quickly. He also couldn't figure out what these objects were but we were quite sure it was not a normal aircraft.

The total amount of time from when I first noticed these objects to when I told my brother and he stepped outside was no more than 10 minutes.

About half-way through the total course of what I could observe of these 4 objects, the 2 middle objects started altering their formation from parallel travel to an in-line formation, which put all 4 objects into one single line but all four still traveling at the same speed. As soon as the 2 middle objects finished getting in the same line the first object in the front of the formation started to drop or lose something that to me appeared almost like little embers from the bottom of the object.

At about the same time the objects light intensity started diminishing rapidly and also the object started to increase its observed speed. At about the same point at which the first object started to change it's appearance, the 2nd one started to alter in the same manner and as the 3rd and 4th objects reached the same point the same exact changes occurred.

When these objects would reach their dimmest but still visible appearance is when objects appeared to reach the highest observable speed before dissapearing completely from my sight.

All four objects went through the same process in the same manner from the same points in the sky but only as they reached what was the initial point of the first object in the formation.

The weather coditions were almost clear skys with only some small amounts of hazy patches of clouds at different points of the sky around my area. There was no visible moon nearby that I could observe.

The object was a circle that was blinking red blue and green at diferent times then another one was doing the same

I was just getting home from my waterpolo practice, and got out of the car with my friend. My Mom, Dad, and sister were all outside on the front pourch. Its was already dark because it was like 6. but anyway i asked them what they were doing and the said that there is a circle in the sky about this size O or a little bigger. I looked at it and it was changing colors, like lights were blinking on it red green and blue. It didnt move for a whole hour just sat there we watched it the whole time. We also had binoculars so it made somewhat a little more definite. after about the first hour we notice that it was going South East very very slow. when it got to a certain point it just turned white and we noticed another small one below it, It was doing the exact same thing but it was a little fainter, this one was following the exact some path that the bigger one took. The bigger one after a while started to look like a star like it was disguising itself as a star becasue it had stoped changing color and was just white. We didnt watch it long enough to see if they disapered or anything. But we have never seen any stars out that way or that low and my dad constatnly looks out that way because he watches the planes come in. He is the one who spotted it first. personally i think it was a good siting, but not a very active one. except for the blinking lights

1 light, joined by two more form triangle and perform some formations, before disappearing and flying away in a pattern.

First off..i was coming home from a friends house, when i saw, what i believed to be an extrememly bright star. I looked at it for a while, since i am quite interested in the sky, and stars and the such, and after looking for a good minute or so, i noticed 2 more of the same circular lights form behind it seemingly out of nowhere. They then moved into a triangular shape and began to move foward. They then started performing some type of movements..where the back two objects would split apart from the formation, and the front object would come foward..afer doing this formation three times, the back two lights disappeared completely and suddenly, and the first one took off in a straight line at an alarming rate of speed. It then turned left after going for a good 10 seconds..then 5 seconds later turned right, headed straight for another 20 seconds, then turned left again and kept going. This all happened over a little culvasack street, at about 6 at night or so. It really freaked me out

Slow moving bright white circular craft moving from Long Beach CA . to LAX with bright scanning light pointing upward.

One object at approvimately 5,000 feet in the dark evening sky moving slowly Northeast twards me from Long Beach California to about Paramount or Downey California then stopped for about 20 seconds. Then it started moving west towards the Los Angeles Airport. Then it stoped for a commercial Airplane to pass as it was on approch to LAX. The craft move a little south to give the airplane a little move room to pass. Then continued to LAX and stopped moving. The craft just stayed motionless over LAX for about 10 minutes until some cloud cover eventulally blocked my view.

The object or the light source emitting directly out of the body of the craft was circular in shape and was bright white. A filled in V shaped white light rose above the craft about three times the height of the craft and moved side to side in a scanning motion until just before the craft headed West, then the light on top went away.

It was difficult to see the actual craft itself because of the intensness of the light emitting from the body of the craft. There was no sound that I could hear comming from the craft itself.

Unfotunately I was so intrigued with what I was seeing I din'nt grab my Vedio Camera and I did'nt varify the time. It was somewere between 11:30 P.M. 12/19/01 and 12:30 A.M. on 12/20/01 Pacific Standard time when I first saw the object.

I saw a light slowly moving across the sky. The light then stopped, zig zaged; and sped off a a high speed.

I was 13 years old and was looking up I. The sky. I saw a slow moving object that was at the same altitude as an aircraft. The object stopped directly over me, as if it was aware I saw it. The object then suddenly zig zagged and sped off at a high rate of speed. I felt as if it (the craft or pilot) was upset that I was watching it so it zig zagged and sped off.

Very large silent slim chevron aircraft over Downey CA 1979

The night was clear and crisp. Patches of low level "cottonball" type clouds, and lots of sky in between. Something caught my eye and at first I thought it was a "search light" moving across the clouds, but to my astonishment it was a VERY large chevron aircraft skimming the tops of the clouds. It made no sound. This occurance happened over the Stonewood mall area which at that time had those sodium street lights, they look orange.

The aircraft was smooth on the bottom and low enough to make out detail. It had no markings, no engine nacells, windows or bumps of any kind. Its color was tan as I believe it was reflecting the street lights on its belly. It had no lights at all. I started counting seconds right away. Total event duration- 12 seconds.

Summary : Light in sky with amazing accelleration properties.

The Plastics Pattern Shop -- I was with several workers working outside because of the dust at night abrating plastic layup tools used to produce ablative structures for the Apollo Space Craft. One fellow pointed at a bright "star" approaching from the east (like Las Vegas). He felt it was unusual and we all watched. It was not a helicopter although it moved at about that speed. It hovered over Downey (probably more like La Mirada) for a few minutes. Then it took off on a new coarse (NW - like Point Mugu). We were all sure that it was not a plane. The curious thing is that the arc it described on the sky seemed to maintain a constant speed as it approached the horizon. That is, there was none of the normal "gradual loss of motion due to the distance" that one normally experiences. It was really booking!That's all folks!Sorry - no green women with galactic eyes and no abductions.But hey! a UFO is a UFO, right!
