An explosion, followed by a triangle shaped smoky/cloudy craft flying over our home and out of sight.

Sunday night, April 20, at about 9:25, my wife and I were on our deck enjoying our new firepit. It was a Perfectly clear, starlit night with not even a breath of wind anywhere. Suddenly we heard a very loud explosion, like a July 4th firework going off maybe about a mile northwest of us, over the City of Atwater. I told her, "Man! That was loud! What was that?" Less than a minute later, I happened to look northwest of us and saw a blurry illuminated spot in the sky, maybe about 1000 feet in altitude near where the explosion may have happened. It looked like just a small cloud that looked to be illuminated from the ambient light only. I stood up and pointed out the area and asked my wife, "What is that??" I then told her "It's probably just the smoke cloud rising up from whatever that explosion was that we heard. I expected it to continue rising like a small mushroom cloud and dissipate. We then heard several emergency sirens coming from that same area, and I told her they must be responding to whatever exploded. Then we watched as the smoky/cloudy object ascended only a little bit and then stopped in mid-air which I thought was very odd. It then began heading our way, still about 1000 feet up. I said, "That is weird." Based on many years of experience estimating speed for my job in law enforcement, I'd estimate it was going about 75-80 mph. It was a triangle in shape, with small, fuzzy, spherical nubs on the corners, not sharp ones. It was flying parallel with the ground, with one of the corners leading, directly in the middle and it was not rotating. Nothing metallic or solid was seen at all but at the same time, it maintained its exact shape 100%. I can only describe it as the shape of a blurry, cloudy, triangle, with a cloudy or smoky appearance. There were no blinking lights and no noise whatsoever. We were just looking at this mass approaching and flying over us with our mouths open saying, "What the heck IS that thing?" It continued toward our house and flew right over it at the same altitude; not descending or ascending. The weirdest thing is that although it was cloudy or smoky, it wasn't dissipating, changing shape at all, growing, nor shrinking like smoke, vapor, or clouds will do in the atmosphere. It stayed the EXACT same triangular shape. Keep in mind, there was no wind whatsoever nor any breeze at all and there were no other clouds at all anywhere in the sky. We looked at the tops of very tall redwood trees next door and in our neighborhood and they were perfectly still with ZERO wind movement. So, this couldn't have been something blown along by a low-level wind current or anything. (A check of the local weather at that time will back that up). It passed directly over us in absolute silence and we watched it maintain its speed, altitude and triangle shape until it flew out of sight southeast of us deeper into the McSwain area southeast of the city of Atwater. It then flew far enough away we could no longer track it. My wife said the incident really spooked her and she wanted to go inside which we did. I'd estimate a size measurement of around 50 feet across and when it was directly overhead, it was about 1000 feet up. What man-made objects look or behave like this and especially without making even a whisper of a sound?

V shaped silent craft with 3 red lights on each point.

A V shaped craft with 3 red lights on each point, flew silently from the North West going in a South Eastern direction. I watched it for approximately 30 seconds before losing sight of it behind a group of trees. We are well acquainted with the sights and sounds of many types of aircraft coming in and out of the nearby (retired) Castle AFB. This was not at all like any of the usual aircraft in the area. The altitude was that of a small plane, but it was completely silent. Immediately after observing this craft I experienced a physical reaction of anxiety, lightheaded dizziness and shortness of breath.

Strange rectangular objects shaping low hanging clouds and flashing green light.

I saw two strange crafts, each with a set of what looked to be functioning claws of some sort. Early in the morning while the sun barely was putting out any light, they flew through the low hanging clouds shaping them into cubes. They were pure white in color with the only discerning trait besides the claws being a green flashing light. Immediately after seeing this strange phenomena, I headed back inside to grab my phone in an attempt to record what I saw, only to suddenly feel very drowsy and then wake up at 1:13 PM the same day.

It was about 4 pm November 5th 2015. I lived near the back side of the post office at the time. I have 3 small children whom were inside taking a nap. I went out back to feed my dogs after i sat down and made sure they werent aggressive. As I am sitting, suddenly have the feeling of something trying to get my attention or the feeling of being watched and you look towards the direction. It was as if time slowed down and i see an oval shaped light energy ball it seemed to shine/brighten up get a bit bigger once it knew it had gotten my attention and than just disappeared it felt like it wanted me to look at it, it wasn't hostile seemed curious or it was checking up? I always see ufos here but nothing like this. I wonder when will be the next time i see it. It was peaceful bynun.

We confirmed it NOT to be the Goodyear blimp as we've seen that many, many times

Dark silent rough looking craft.

I was laying down on chair cushions enjoying the shooting stars. I noticed a rectangular rough looking object flying approx.150mph. No lights and no sound came from it. It was maybe 3-1000 feet from ground level. It was heading eastwards. I was a little frightened realizing it is intentionally meant to not be seen.

I hesitated for 20 minutes to call 911. But if someone else seen it then I would feel better about such a strange call.

Anyhow 911 responded "what is your emergency"?. I said it isn't an emergency but more a inquiry. Has any one called about a dark large craft flying eastward no sound or lights?

They were understanding and asked shape and size. I guessed on size and said about size of a football field but it was more size of a 18 wheeler. I just got excited, I guess.

Spherical motionless mystery object in the daytime sky looked like a Mini Moon





It was around 3:00 PM; I was finishing up my work day and looking up into the sky I was amazed at how crystal clear and blue the sky was when I noticed up in the sky a Bright white dot in the sky at approximately the 11:00 position not quite straight up but off to the side a little bit well after a few mins expecting to see it move i noticed it had not moved at all so i retrieved my Binoculars to try to get a better look but as I focus on the Object I noticed it to be very high up and perfectly spherical in shape pearl in color or the best way to describe it would be it looked very much like a Mini-Moon I estimate to be perhaps 1/10 th the size of the moon I began to think it must be a balloon but the fact that for over an Hour it had not move in any direction just totally motionless in the sky then I saw a large jet aircraft flying at a very high altitude near the object thinking i could get an idea what altitude this object may be when the jet flew near the! peripheral of the object it was evident that this object was way further up in altitude way way higher and the size of the object was almost the same size as the large jet aircraft that flew near it making me consider that this spherical object must be very large so perhaps it was a weather Balloon but why it was so motionless was a mystery after about observing this craft for about 90 minutes several other aircraft flying overhead started leaving con-trails in the clear blue sky and suddenly within another 30 mins began to haze up and become partly cloudy and the mystery object was completely obscured and no longer visible thru the sudden cloud/haze barrier that formed and remained until past sunset

Strange occurance

I'm sitting here having a cigarette and I look up at what my mind automaticllly thinks is a prop plane passing by but the only odd erie thing was it made absolutely no sound...?

When I noticed that It was moving silently across the night sky, I shouted to my brother and he didn't think much of it at first until he also realized it made no noise...

It had red and white blinking lights and seemed about 2,000 ft off the earth in elevation!?

Are they just private aircraft contractors building silent planes or are they from alien worlds?

Orb in the Night

At approximately 11:10 pm I observed out in the back of my yard a glowing cirular orb about 1000-1500 feet off the ground. I do not know for how long it was there, but I do not believe I initially saw it, and that I noticed it and it was brighter than the surrounding stars. As it caught my eye the craft moved rapidly upward and climbed higher. As it went higher the orb disappeared, then reappeared, before disappearing completely. During these quick seconds this orb made no sound. This was peculiar; but what was more puzzling was that I noticed three aircraft in the area flying around almost as if trying to observe the orb. These aircraft made the distinct sounds of planes. Even more bewildering was that two of these aircraft appeared to be heading right towards one another as if they were going to collide, but passed within 500-600 feet of each other. These two aircraft flew in the same area, but lower, than the orb which I saw.

UFO changed colors/shape over Atwater, California

I was sitting in my cousin's back yard talking with a friend when a red light in the sky that I thought must have been a firework caught my eye. I automatically assumed it was a firework due to the richness of the color and it was descending just above the top of a wooden fence that separates his property from the next. I stood up, and informed my friend, who immediately turned around to look. The entire sighting lasting 10 to 15 seconds.

Just as I was asking him what it was it changed course and began to increase altitude and rapidly descended and ascended in successive fashion, too fast for me to count how many times. All the while, the object changed color in a very fluid motion from red at first, to gold, green, amber and possibly blue, but not too sure. While the object was changing colors, it was also changing shapes, going from what I would describe as a teardrop, to a sphere, to almost seeming to flatten out. It then proceeded to head west away from our location towards and probably past CA-99. I caught about 10 seconds or so of this object on my cell phone camera, although by the time I began recording, It was already heading away and had stopped changing colors/shape. I could not identify the object, and it was COMPLETELY inaudible.

Shortly after the event, other witnesses that had gathered, along with myself, saw multiple conventional aircraft with flashing lights following the same general flightpath of the object.

I been doing UFO hunting on my own when i was a teen.

Hello, well I seen this Ufo pass some time now and I been keeping a eye on it for a long time and when a Jet come by it stops moving when the jet go pass and about 50 ft of the jet that pass by it starts to move in the ABC's and do Firger 8.

I been doing ufo hunting when i was a teen and I can see pass long ways that some people cant see. they would need a phonelens but somethings tell me that I can see lot more far that other people cant see.

but any ways this been going on pass 2 years In Atwater and I had it on video but i clean it off cause i didnt want get made fun of cause of it but some time soon I am going to get it back on video. To show people that they are out there.

P.S. I would like to work with u guys with the Ufo hunter's some day.

TRIANGLE UFO'S ARE REALLY IN THE SKY

Heading East on old 224 (waterloo rd). My family all own motorcycles and decided to to take an evening cruise. My wife to the left of me pointed up to the sky.Amazed at what I was seeing I slowed my bike down to almost a crawl. My father and step-mom were behind my wife and I, and my father in-law behind them. What i saw was a black triangular object blocking out the stars and sky. It was moving incredibly slow.there were white lights at each corner,then in marvel another soon floated behind the first just as slow.(same lights) no flashing,just solid. I actually passed under them going 5 miles per hour.I would guess 5,000 ft. up and the size bigger than a football field.

I'm reporting this now because I didn't that night. I felt this needed to be said, It has weighed on me for a little over a year. to top it off my step-mom behind us seen them vanish with speeds of the blink of an eye.

Triangle Craft Sighting

A clear September evening with full visibility of the sky and stars. Atwater is a small country town with no distracting lights or city noises.

Five family members went for an evening bike ride (motorized) We were heading east on Waterloo Rd. when my wife urgently got my attention as she pointed to the sky.

What I witnessed along with four others was this. Almost directly above me was a massive triangular craft, guessing around the size of a football field,moving extremely slow. It had a light source at each point. Behind it approached an identical craft,just as slow. They had blocked out the clear view of the sky and stars. At that point I passed under them and continued forward around 5 mph. trying to keep my visual.

The split second I looked forward and then back, both crafts were gone. My step mother was 40 yrds. behind me and her visual was that they accelerated @ light speed.

Honestly, what the hell did I see and @ that size? If our military has any involement,they are flying a mother ship of there own.

Black soundless trapazoid with small dim underside lights, seemed like camoflage. Gliding quickly.

I don't know who else to report this to, but I saw a bizarre object at about 7:45 pm PST this evening (Nov. 9) in Atwater CA. I was in my back yard when an object caught my eye, moving in a SE direction. At first I thought it may be a meteor streak, but was stunned to see it was a silhouette of an object, dimly lit at the outer part with individual lights the size of background stars, the object appeared to be the shape of a trapazoid moving sideways. It seemed to be a few hundred feet off the ground, gliding rapidly and completely without sound. It would seem to me it would have been seen by others, as other aircraft were in the air at the time. I don't what I saw, whether it is experimental craft or what, but it seems strange to me that experimental craft would be zipping down the Central Valley without strobes with other planes in the air. Regardless of what the explanation is, what I saw was really quite stunning.

it was around 9:30 when i noticed an extremely bright glow in the sky it moved from side to side - disc shaped with colored lights.

I was with a friend just leaving an appointment when I noticed an extremely bright light in the sky. I asked her if she thought it was a blimp she said she'd never seen a blimp with lights around it. We stood watching this lit up disc shaped object move from East to West it as it changed color sometimes surrounded by a red hazy glow and three bright metalic red lights. There was a circular shaft of light in the center of it . It moved at random speeds, more slowly when it was traveling side to side where it went behind trees and seemed to hide for a moment then reapear. The speed picked up when it moved towards and away from us. I could see the bottom of the disk when it traveled North (towards us) it had a circle of blue and green lights around it. When it moved away it changed shape completely it looked more oblong with a fish like tail. The first time it changed shape I was sure it was going to vanish it got considerably smaller and seemed to travel far away at a high speed then came back to its original shape and spot in a clearing between trees.. Two hellicopters appeared after we had been watching it for about 10 minutes one swooped down close to it from above and vanished out of sight another hellicopter was shining a searchlight below and to the east of the object it was about five or ten minutes before that one left as well.

We had to meet someone for dinner and left after watching it for about 25 minutes. It was hard to take my eyes off but I was also having doubts and questions about what I was seeing and trying to turn it into something explainable- maybe some new military plane.

I was visiting my parents and had just arrived at their home around 12:30am from the Los Angeles area. My folks were asleep and I put my luggage in the spare room and went out to the back patio, by the pool area to call my husband. As I was talking to him I saw a red triangle come up from behind the church roof. My parents live on a busy road but their house is set back from the road and the church is about a football field away. It was bright red inside the triangle with an outlining of yellow/orange. It was moving very slow, there were no sounds except for crickets and the sound of a light breeze through the trees. It was dark except for a few street lights across the street and the sky was clear as a bell. It also had like a white tail coming from the lower left hand corner but it wasn't attatched. I whispered into the phone, oh my god, oh my god, hon, there is something weird in the sky, he laughed and said why are you whispering, I just said I don't know this is really weird. Then the triangle began to get smaller where you could only see a little bit of the red part and the yellow/orange outside. It was still moving slowly up into the sky at an angle towards the Big Dipper. It then began to slowly get bigger again and I saw a red dot fly out of the lower left hand corner and disappear. Then seconds later there were 3 more balls of red. One came out the bottom center, the other to the right of that one and the third came out from the right hand corner, all disappeared in a flash. The triangle stayed at that size and was still slowly moving up into the sky. Moments later I heard an airplane coming from behind me, I turned around and it was going at a high rate of speed towards the triangle. I'm not good with distances but if you out strecthed your arms this is about how far the plane was from the triangle, then the triangle suddenly just disappeared! Then out of the corner of my eye I saw 2 more airplanes coming in the same direction as the first plane. I looked and saw the first plane had turned around coming back towards me. These planes didn't sound like jets, just regular planes, but I couldn't figure out how come they were moving so fast. I was shaking, it was so amazing I couldn't take my eyes off of it, I could've went inside and grabbed my mom's camera as she always has it right on a shelf handy, but I was afaid it would be gone and I didn't want to miss a second of it. Needless to say, I was there for 3 more nights and I found myself constantly going out looking for it, hoping to see it again.

Very bright light hovering over central california

I worked as a security guard for a major packing shed located in the town of Atwater in the central valley of California. My shift would start at ten pm and I would get off at six am. I like to finish off my shift by having some morning coffee with some of the employees of the cannery. After having my cup of coffee with the employees on this April morning I got on my security golf cart to finish my round. As I was driving out of the main packing shed I saw what at first appeared to be a helicopter shining a bright light over a company truck shop which was located about half a mile away from the plant. Many people were walking towards the plant because the morning shift began at six am, but only a few stood there looking at the light.

Out of the people that stood there looking at the light I singled out a supervisor. I got of my security golf cart and walked up to him and asked what he thought the “helicopter” was looking for (as for me, I knew this was no helicopter, even though the plant was located near highway 99 and we saw our share of high-speed chases, but this time, the light was not here in our sky as we know it, this light was coming from really high up in the sky)? The supervisor answered it was a space shuttle and it was going to land in the Mojave Desert. I answered by saying the light was very slightly moving towards the north east, and Mojave is to the south east. At this point he stayed quit and just watched the light. I then radioed my partner and asked him to take a look at the “helicopter” shining the light on the truck shop (when using the radio we needed to maintain serious due to management listening in on our radio conversations). My partner replied stating, “What the helicopter wanted?” I replied it was just the police.

After a few minutes the light had moved from the truck shop and was now hovering over a peach orchard. The life span of this light was about fifteen minutes and then it just shut off. The source of the light went off but we could still see a beam coming down, and then it just began to fad away, kind of like fog. The best way I can describe this light is like a huge “Mag-Lit”. It was really bright and very intense white light that was more like a beam. We could see the source that is how we could determine that it wasn’t here, not even close to earth. There was no sound coming from the source, nor change in color, just very slight drifting movement.

My parents worked at a wine making company in the town of Livingston. Both of my parents worked in the vineyards. They too started their shift at six a.m. And they too saw what I saw, except they saw the source of the light. They along with about ten crew members witnessed the incident. They told me the source changed colors. It changed from dark blue to purple, to orange, to red. They could see the light beaming down but couldn’t see the movement that we saw at the cannery.

I have been a long time Art-Bell listener and never did I hear a caller call in on this incident. I checked the evening news casts and the local newspapers in the surrounding areas, and there was nothing covering the event.

I was going to sleep and saw 2 uaps I waved at them and one waved back

I was at a boyscout camporee was going to sleep when I noticed 2 uaps at first I thought they might be falling stars or planes but they made 90 degree turns and 180 degree turns at break neck speeds. They looked like they were playing with each other. One of them was moving to the right away from the other one. I waved to it thinking there's no way it sees me.

It was an abnormally warm night and I'm pretty sure some of the warm breeze was being generated from the ships show.

As soon as I waved both uaps froze looking at me like two angry eyes in the sky. Then the one on the right waved back. They both started to bounce up and down like they thought it was funny.

Not having a plan after that my 16 year old self ducked down into my sleeping bag and hid like a child hiding under the covers. I peeked a few minutes later expecting to be surrounded by green men only to find the spaceships gone.
This campout was supposed to be at castle Air Force base but was moved to a nearby park at the last minute because castle said they were busy and we couldn't come. I think they were busy with what I saw in the sky.

I've been looking for them ever since. I wish I would have been braver because they seemed to want my attention.

while on the way home from the drive in movies we saw a falling star slow to a stop just in front of us

At first it looked like a falling star,my sister made the comment look a falling star it had a firey tal just like one then it began to slow down at this point I knew it was'nt it kept slowing till finally came to a stop over some very large trees about 60 70 ft tall and it made them look like tooth picke it was very large the front half was hard to make out because of the bright light it seemed to talk up the whole front half of the craft it sat here and rotated with the light away from us lighting up everything in front of it as if it were day time.the back was disk shaped and very thick with rows and rows of different collored lights when it first slowed to a stop I got off on the off ramp and started driving tward it and got to the stop sign with it right in front of us so we had avery good look at it it seemed like a long time but was fairly short and as soon as it arrived it left so fast that in a matter of one second it shot out through the stars and was gone.I was in the Military stationed at Castle AFB at the time and know it was not from there.all the other drivers on the road just kept driving as if not to have seen it or didnt want to but just kept going.

for the next several nights we kept experiencing some wierd stuff like after going to bed and just about asleep my wife and I would see a bright light outside the bedroom window getting up to see as soon as I got to the windo to look out the light would go oout this happened two or three times a night for several nights.also had a brittney Spaniel dog in the back yard and after these few nights she began to act wierd like running into the fence and house and realy acting strang to the point we had to have her put to sleep.There were threeof us in the car my wife my sister and myself on the way back from the drive in movies with no alchol or anything else to injest except for the cokes and popcorn.

As you can see this happened a long time ago, so my recolections of exact times and date regretable are gone.. although it was 3 days prior to the announcement of the Mississippi sightings... the guys that were taken aboard a craft supposedly. Anyway the only reason I come out with it now is because it was so very different in shape than any other reports I have heard. It was made up of Balls... in the shape of an M ....4 of these huge balls were the outside legs and the V were, each side 2 balls.... Was incredible , no sound and no lights. Could not tell how far away it was.... but seened huge. The only reason I think I even saw it is a bit of a story itself..... I was a young mom, hubby was in the Air Force and we were at the AFB.. living in base housing. He was gone, working, it was a weekend night, I was feeling sorry for myself, (was summer or spring, warm anyway) so I went outside well after the children were asleep lay back on a lounge on the patio .. just reflecting on my life... when there it was ... did not appear to move very quickly, I watched it about 10 minutes... even had time to run to neighbors to see if I could find anyone else to look.. but no .... went directly overhead... could see it clearly, although I don't know why.. Was not a moon that I remember.... and I knew it was nothing from the base. Couldn't understand why the base was not responding .. called the air police to see ifanyone else reported anything... No one had.... And was told not to worry, it was probably just my imagination. However I know what I saw. Just would like to think that someone else may at some time, have seen something similar ... but it doesn't appear so .. On April 17th , 1966, one of the greatest UFO chases occured With police in NE Ohio and Western PA

At 0510 hrs on April 17th, 1966 2 Portage County Deputies in one car were dispatched to drive towards the Summit County line to check out a call from Summit County Sheriff's Dept. about a strange light or craft in the sky, heading east down Route 224 toward Portage County.

While enroute they stopped to check on what appeared to be an abandoned car with antennas and full of "radio & electronic equipment". It had a strange emblem on the door in the shape of a diamond with lightning bolts and other symbols. While checking out the car, a large luminous object arouse from beyond the north bank of the State Route, and hovered above them. Both deputies described it as ice-cream cone shaped, with the 'ice cream' being solid and the 'cone', pointing down, seeming to be mostly light. Both instinctivle jumped pack into the patrol car. The object then started moving east down Route 224 toward Atwater Center, and they started following it. They also called their radio operator who told them to keep it in sight.

Another deputy, in a single unit car was in Atwater at the intersection of Waterloo Rd & Stroup Rd., and called to say he saw it, it was about 800 feet up and the "cone" of light beneath it appeared to be blue to purple in color. He heard no sound but noticed static on his radio until the object had passed several miles to the east. The 2 persuing deputies in car P-13 followed it east on 224 to the Deerfield circle, then SE on State Route 14. At the dinner on the circle, a night cook & waitress both saw the object and attempted to hide behind a car in the parking lot. As the object proceeded down Route 14 across the corner of Mahoning County and into Columbiana County, 2 Salem patrolmen were sent to the edge of town to see what all the radio calls were about. They describe seeing a bright object, about 1000 feet up going from their left to right (or, as they were looking north, west to east), and it made no noise, but had a trail of bluish colored smoke or light trailing behind & below it. They watched it for a few minutes and listened to the deputies on the radio, but the object veered east following Routr 165 and did not enter Salem city. After it had been out of their sight for 15 to 20 minutes, they both saw & heard jets, 2 or 3, travelling at a high rate of speed from the northwest heading south then turning east as if folloing the object. There was the Youngstown 459th Troop Carrier Wing, Youngstown AFR located in that direction.

As P-13 approached the intersection of Route 165 and State Route 14, a Patrolman from the city of East Palestine saw the object and had been listening to the radio. He pulled out behind P-13 and joined the chase. Both cars now stated that the speed was between 85 & 105 MPH. As they approached the county line, the fell well behind the object a couple of times, and it would seem to slow down to 'wait' for them. They crossed into PA where Route 14 becomes Route 51 and continued SE. A officer partoling at Conway PA saw the object coming and went down to Route 65 (51 becomes 65) to see if it was an aircraft having trouble. Being from PA his radio did not pick up the Ohio unit's chase. As the object shot overhead, he saw the apporaching Ohio cars. The object came to a hover over Harmony Township, and all 4 officers sat at a gas station to discuss what was going on. Then they heard the jets. One came in and flew over the object, while the other 2 started circling around. The Conway officer called his dispatch and asked him to call the Pittsburgh airport to see if they had any activity going on. Then as the first jet turned to make another pass over the object, the objects 'cone of light' turned orange and it shot straight up into the air, and dissapeared in a couple of seconds. All 4 of the officers heard a high pitched winning sound, when it changed color, and their hairs all stood up as it shot up. Also all of their cars shut off at the same instant, though they all easily restarted when tried. The Conway radio operator called back and said some military man at the airport wanted to talk with them. They went to a nearby police station (Rochester) and took the call. The Rochester officer stated that the man said they had scrambled jets, but another man, a Colonel, as he identified himself, came on and said that there were no jets scrambled, and that they had probably been chasing the moon.

When the Portage deputies returned to Ravenna (where their HQ & jail was) they were told to sit tight. A Maj. Quintanilla, USAF was driving up from Dayton to interview them. In the mean time the Sheriff started his own investigation into the events. In all, of all the officers involved (2 Portage deputies, 2 Salam patrolmen, 1 East Palestine patrolman, and 1 Conway Police officer), 6 of them, were interviewed by a detective from Portage County, then by Maj. Quintanilla, a Maj. Donald E. Keyhoe, USMC (RET), William B. Weitzel (NICAP), Prof. William Powers of Northwestern University and Director of the Dearborn Observatory, and various newspaper reporters. The Detective that investigated this found elevated levels on his CD survey meter, and scourched earth in the field where the deputies claim it rose out of. And there were the photos taken by a local police chief (From Mantua) which were discounted by the "official" investigators, that this experienced detective found compelling. And there are the recorded tapes from the interviews, that never made it into the official government investigation because the Sheriff wanted his to be an independant investigation and not to come to the attention of the military - which it did not.

I was a deputy at Portage County Ohio from 1985 - 1989, and came across these files while cleaning up old files for removal to the new facility. I was to dispose of all the case material that was not related to open cases or those involving deaths of violence. But this was just too good to throw out. Much of the material is on the NICAP web site, just search under Portage County Ohio UFO Chase. However, what I found was the independant investigation the Sheriff had done, and which was never turned over to the investigators - at the request of the Sheriff himself. So I have witness statements made on the Sheriff office's report forms, the detectives report, and material never before examined by UFOlogists, or skeptics. This was a significant case in 1966, and the chase seen in "close Encounters" were the UFO goes over the lead actor's pick-up and it stalls, and as the object leaves it is being chased by police cars, was inspired by this very case. The Portage officers followed the object for 86 miles. It was chased by 6 police officers, seen by many civilian witnesses, was chased by Air Force jets, and resulted in 3 of the officers leaving the profession, 2 quit, one was fired and he got a divorice as well - all because of this chase.

I am preparing to include this in a book, with all of the new details, reports, and the evidence which was never before released, along with some other interesting events from Eastern Ohio / Western PA. But in the mean time I am sending copies of the documents and tapes to the UFO center for their examination.

Thank you for your prompt reply. The information in the material is interesting, and I would be glad to put it into report form. Some of the material I have is indeed in the NICAP database (Just do a search there under Portage County and you get lots of hits), but the vast majority of it came from the Sheriff's Office report, which again were in the detective's files, and according to deputies who participated in the investigation the material was never given to Maj. Quintanilla or to Mr. Keyhoe or the NICAP folks - it was just locked away in the detective division's files. The taped material is from reel-to-reel tapes of the interview of the 2 portage deputies involved (interview by Major Quintanilla of Project Blue Book), a Salem police officer and East Palestine police officer (both by Portage County Detectives), and some material that I cannot make out what it is. There are police reports, the original NICAP report, and some interview transcripts of 4 witnesses - all not in the NICAP data base. I did email NICAP, but was told that it is not an "active site" anymore - just a data repository. I could attach these to some emails, or better yet I could fax them if you have a number. As for the tapes, I have copied most onto cassette format, and can easily mail you a copy for you to keep.

These files were not considered an active case, so I believe legally it would be OK to publish this stuff. I will, however, ask my lawyer to be sure I am not breaching any confidentiality rules (it was not a solved case either, so it had not ever been placed in the public domain file at the Sheriff's Office; and I want to be sure that I am not going to be liable for slander in any way). The telling of the story back in 1966 led to one deputy involved loosing his job, getting divorced, and he lived in poverty for most of the intervening years - so mentioning him again in a public forum MAY be a problem. At worst, you may have to withhold my identity until I get these questions answered. But I will get this stuff together in the next few days and either email or fax the documents, and mail you the tapes.

This is known as 'Portage County UFO Chase'. It went right over me.

This so-called UFO and its sister UFOs are common here. It started on the edge of Akron on its way to Philadelphia. I watched it appear to climb thousands of feet in the air and come back down farther along the road. I watched it change color from brown to gray and back. I watched it change shape from circular to oval and back. I was illuminated in the bright light shining down. Many of us have encountered this over and over. No matter how ludicrous believers stretch it to be, it's just everyday science. Although the hype is basically true, none of it is abnormal nor extraterrestrial; for example the humming sound is normal, not unusual. Many have debunked this over and over. No, it's not Venus. Provided one of them is nearby at the moment, come on over and I can arrange for you to see the source, which will explain a lot. Weather reports explain a lot. The main explanation is that believers want to believe and make adjustments to the simple reality of what actually happened. Pilots have not owned up due to FAA violations they would rather forget.
