Black triagle flying south

Out for a walk with dog, nice clear sky, still bright outside, just looking up and caught movement of black object, at first thought bird, but once I focused on it I realized it was triangle shaped. It was very high up, if I put my arm straight out and measured with my fingers, it was about 1/4" wide. I wanted to grab my phone but I figured would be hard to focus on. As watching there was a brief flash underneath in center of craft, was not sure if a light or a reflection from sun which was starting to get low to my right (west). My best guess is the craft was about cupertino/saratoga area, heading towards santa cruz/pacific ocean. After about 4-5 seconds it just vanished. I did not see it "phase out" or accelerate, it was just gone. It was still high up in sky, not like I lost it over a horizon. I live under flight path to SFO as well as traffic to SJC. The direction it was flying is not typical of what I see with planes, especially flying south. Planes fly in direction along cost, this craft was heading toward pacific.

Live near Cupertino foothills, south of San Francisco, east of San Jose. The 2 main flight patterns out of sfo are heading south, higher altitude (15-20000ft?), and the approaching about 6,000ft. I saw a plane heading south, white and red lights. But I saw what seemed higher, a bright light, about size of typical satellite, but I know satellite speeds and this was slower, and a bit brighter, as I watched I tried to video with my iPhone, and as it headed south, it’s speed slowed, as well it dimmed for a few seconds, but then brightened back up but it was barely moving, after about minute and half it faded but I could still barely make then it finally disappeared.

Was clear night, no moon.

Swarm of ufos over Los Altos

Walking down my driveway, facing N/nw, I just happened to look up and saw what I thought was a large flock of birds circling, but seemed very high I could not make out size or type of bird. Than I began to notice that they would go from a dark to light color, but it was not reflective of sun, most of group was circling clockwise, but either side would turn whitish, not just group at “9 o’clock” position as if that how angled in turn, the 3 o’clock side would also go white.

I pulled out my phone to record, and continued watching and the objects were fading in/out, then after about 2 minutes they all vanished. I went to watch the video and stupid me didn’t record!!! I did see a very high altitude plane fly over, maybe over 20,000 ft (lots of planes fly over to sfo, that pattern puts at 6000 over my house, so this plane much higher) but the object were definitely below this plane.

Bright light followed by helicopter.

Stepped out to throw garbage out, heard low humming sound like a distant helicopter. I looked in direction and saw a helicopter following a very bright light, heading west over hills above Los Altos/Palo Alto. The bright light then dimmed to gone, then there was a very quick, bright red flash.

The helicopter that was following stayed on same heading till was gone over mountain range. That range of mountains no higher than 2000', so I don't think light and helicopter were much higher.

I'm right under flight pattern for SFO, very familiar with plane lights, and their landing pattern. We get lots of traffic out of moffet, but again familiar with those aircraft, both military and coast guard. Coast guard copters have a very distinct whine, not same as the military helicopters, so at first I thought maybe it was CG, but this helicopter had a different sound to it.

Unidentified aircraft seen hovering very low and very still near highway 280. Though it was very dark, a faint, triangular outline was visible. 5 lights were visible from point of observation, three of which were positioned on the points of the triangle, one positioned in the exact middle of the triangle, and one positioned laterally between two points. Object seemed to be slightly larger at its largest dimension than the largest dimension of a Bell 206 helicopter. No mechanical or engine noises were heard.

glowing horizontal saucer-shaped light seen hovering over Los Altos Hills, CA.

It was early in the morning on July 18, 2009 in Los Altos Hills when I spotted the UFO. From our car, one passenger and myself spotted a glowing light in the sky. It was a long horizontal band of light that looked to be spinning. It hovered in the air a few miles away from where we were parked in the hills and looked as if it was levitating. It was a fairly bright saucer-shaped light that seemed to accelerate and get smaller before completely disappearing into the night sky.

The entire episode lasted about 3-4 minutes and we could not think of any logical explanation for the unique shape and characteristics of the lights.

apparent aircraft develops comet-like tail which grows steadily, eventually losing its fan shape, becoming a luminous cloud

I wish I had reported this event immediately. Finally checking the NUFORC log today, I found 3 reports around 5am of May 9 that share elements of my sighting, but I believe that I witnessed a more complete, longer duration event. Returning home after a very late night at work (normal for me), I had just pulled off I-280 at the Foothill College (Moody Rd.) exit when a bright light in the southern sky caught my attention. I am thoroughly familiar with the constellations and celestial bodies, so anything "out of place" is immediately evident. This object was at least Sirius- or Jupiter-bright, in the constellation Ophiuchus and somehwat east of Arcturus. Jupiter had already set or was obscured by the coastal ridge. The object was moving very slowly north- or northwestward and at first I took it to be an incoming aircraft. Expecting its brilliant, steady white light to begin strobing any second, I was astonished when instead it sprouted a "vapor trail" on its left side that mimicked a classic comet tail (I noted the time [5:06] on my car's digital clock about now). This trail was highly structured and almost perfectly triangular. It then began to grow steadily but maintained its geometrical shape. As I continued to watch (I had parked my car on the periphery of Foothill College by this point) it was as though the mass of the original object were being converted into this growing exhaust trail. Eventually, the object was completely "consumed" and no longer visible, leaving behind a glowing elliptical cloud with a very long major axis. This cloud easily covered the area of a small to mid-size constellation, perhaps larger than Ursa Minor or about half of Hydra. It faded gradually but I could still make out traces of it 10 to 15 minutes later when I arrived at home. As far as altitude and location, I would estimate it to be somewhat higher (2000-3000 ft.) and closer to the coast than the San Jose observer. I fully expected some mention of it to be made immediately on local radio (there was nothing subtle about this!), but KGO, KCBS, and KQED-FM were all silent. Nothing could be found in print the next day. I have been intending to check the NUFORC log all this time, but the more usual weirdnesses of life have kept me distracted. By the way, I am a CSETI member and have witnessed a wide range of UFO phenomena, but nothing before quite like this. I am willing to discuss this incident with anyone.

Greenish glowing craft flies over Peninsula Bayland/Palo Alto area

Sighting occurred at 01:45 on 3/10/03 I was awake and looking out the bedroom window with an unobstructed view of the night sky towards the NE. Suddenly, there appeared this strange craft, (I swear it had the appearance of NCG-1701 'Star Trek'). I say suddenly because 'poof' - there it was where there had just been empty night sky. The ship's forward area (the round construction) was glowing a fuzzy lime green, while the rest of the ship seemed dark - that is, no lights were noticed on the periphery. I would estimate that the size of this thing was very large, in that if I held my hand at arm's length, the object would almost have filled in the space of 4 fingers (thumb tucked). Unfortunately, the sighting lasted for less than 5 seconds because it just as suddenly disappeared -- 'poof'-- again.

The craft flew in a northerly direction (direction San Francisco) extremely fast, faster than a normal jet on approach to SFO. I would estimate that this craft was approximately 6-8 miles away, and flying between 3,000 to 5,000 feet over the baylands or Bay. I have a good feel for this as we live on the flight path into SFO, on what the controllers call the "Peninsula" approach. That is, jets are vectored over the Peninsula from the SW, flying over Palo Alto at between 3K-5K feet. However, after 11:00 pm, jets usually vector out over the Bay, staying away from the Peninsula area. (See http://www.uproar.org/cached/SFChron.8.6.98.html for the whole article.) I thought later that the green I saw on the craft might have been regular starboard/port side lights, but that made no sense as the side that was facing me was the left of the craft (I assume) and therefore the light should have been red. But in any case, the fuzzy greenish light enveloped the whole front section of the craft's construction - the round part.

Career wise, I am a professional secretary and hobby wise, a percussionist. I am trained to observe and memorize details. I hope that other people on the Peninsula saw this brief passing of the strange greenish glowing craft and will report it as well. No need to contact me. Thank you.

Object resembled two inverted teacups.Backlit by emerging full moon. No sound. In and out of line of sight in less than 2 seconds.

I awoke a few minutes before 9:45 pm, looked out the bedroom window (facing East) through a 3-foot open area where our drapes were open. I was watching the sky, fully awake, when IT appeared, swooping down in a "lazy J" pattern, ie from 12 o’clock to 3 o’clock, then continuing straight across my line of sight (East to West). (Only 1 object.) I believe IT was at 1500-2000 feet, below the usual approach altitude of commercial jets to SFO. IT was backlit by the moon, which was at that particular time hidden by the clouds producing a diffused background glow. IT appeared to be gunmetal dark gray/black, and I had the impression of IT having a muted red glow on the lower half. I also had the impression of panels or planes on both upper and lower halves, and in the center at the equator, a row of windows. I also had the impression that the bottom half had an internal ring which was rotating. Nothing on this craft was bright, there were no blinding lights. Size is indeterminate, however holding a 25-cent piece at my arm’s length gave me an estimate. Notable was the flat top and bottom, exactly like two inverted china tea cups. Going from right to left in my "3 foot window-of-view" it took less than 2 seconds. The movement was smooth, without any sound. I did have the "impression" of subliminal sound, kind of like the Jetson’s car, but it may have been purely overactive imagining. It was at that time I looked at my bedside clock: 9:45 pm. I was shocked. I didn’t move for a minute or so, but then I ran to the window to see if IT was hovering anywhere around. As I checked out the sky (lit up by the moon), a commercial jet flew by at the usual approach altitude to SFO (maybe 3000 feet?), making the usual noise. Quite a contrast to the silent passage of IT.

During lightning storm and early morning hours (still dark)an object with lights stayed motionless in the same area.

At around 5:00 AM in the morning myself and a neighbor were outside talking of the unusual electrical storm and noticed an object which at first we thought was an airplane but noticed that it was not moving. We could not see the shape of the object for two reasons. 1)it was still dark outside, 2)it had lights which was bright enough to mask any shape. At first glance it appeared to be an airplane as far as the front lights were same as you see from an aircraft at night. We noticed the object was not moving and made no sound as a helicoper may have made so we came to the conclusion that this object was not an airplane nor a helicoper. It stayed in one place with the airplane like headlights and no other lights visible. The object appeared to be roundish although a definite shape was not apparent and we could not see any extensions, such as wings etc. After about 30 minutes or so we had to leave for work and was unable to continue our observations. After the observation described above I have no explanation as to what it could have been but I do know that what we saw was clearly a craft and not a conventional airplane of any type I have seen in my lifetime. On a beautiful, clear spring evening, I went for a walk from my residence in Los Altos, Ca., over to Sunnyvale. At that time, when I lived in California, I was hiking between 25 and 35 miles each week, both after work and in the evenings. I was returning home from my walk, and was within one mile from my house, and cut across a supermarket parking lot. The supermarket had closed for the evening, the lights were being turned out, and there were only a few cars left in the lot. As I crossed the lot, I looked up at approximately a 30 degree angle, and noticed a tight grouping of 5 or 6 white lights with a "floodlight" shining down. There was a mist or haze surrounding the grouping of lights, which were in a non-descript pattern on this object.My first observation of this object would indicate that it was a helicopter with a searchlight shining down. I quickly realized, however, that the object was at a close proximity; approximately one third to one half a mile away, and there was no sound audible from the object. The object was completely motionless. I realized that a helicopter hovering at that close proximity would be distinctly audible.As I watched the object, a person was walking to their car across the parking lot.
