We live approximately 1000ft above the Pacific on a hillside. We have a clear view from the coast to Catalina Island. My son called for me to come see what he described as "pepper flakes" crossing on or near the ocean. As we watched they began to ascend. First the frontmost, then the next, etc. They were not evenly spaced but were clearly on the same path mostly. They were not connected. They rose into the clouds until we could no longer see them. Took about 5 minutes. I assumed they were large drones or weather balloons, but I can't find anything that fits. I'd love to hear a reasonable explanation for what we saw. This was observed by myself, my 11 year old son, and my 15 year old daughter. The image is the area of the sighting but I didn't take a photo of the event, at the time not thinking it was unusual.

Changing Bright Light object over Los Angeles

Saw an extremely bright, changing color, flickering, triangle shaped object flying above the ocean. It looked like water was being pulled into it. There was a smaller object next to it, just stagnant. There was no sound with either but both had a glowing haze. We got a quick video! Soon as we put the flash on, it stopped flickering colors and the brightness stopped and took off.

Bright, fast bar of light in the sky in Southern CA on 2/28/21 at 9:15PM

Rancho Palos Verdes, CA/February 28 @ 9:15PM: Unidentified Sighting My husband and my 10-year-old daughter saw a strange bar of extremely bright light in the air. They went outside as it circled in the sky for about 30 seconds. It was soundless and unnaturally smooth. Then, the object glided out of sight, heading north at a tremendous speed. It appeared to be about 500 feet in the sky and seemed too large to be a drone. We were not able to capture a picture of it ourselves, but after looking online we found picture almost identical to what we saw.

was in hot tub facing East South East toward pisces, when suddenly appeared 3 bright lights in a iso triangle shape, the stars were not visible yet and air traffic to LAX very obvious with nav lights. The light last for about 10 secs., then the bottom right light faded to invisible, followed by the bottom left light fading away followed by the top light fading.

I grabbed my iPhone and opened Sky Guide app. The screen shot revealed on Sky watch said that there 2 rockets named C. 2228 and C. 1328 I guess the third was not there on sky watch.

UFO spotted flying low for >30 seconds, no reports called in personally but multiple helicopters spotted circling within 5 minutes

UFO spotted briefly for >30 seconds, flying dangerously low through a rural residential neighborhood in Rancho PV. UFO appeared to come from behind our vehicle and then along the driver side. UFO was large enough to possibly hold a person or two.

Extremely fast/brief movement, obscure/irregular flight pattern (wavy), strangely SILENT, ascended slightly before emitting a neon orange light and seemingly disappearing. No reports made personally, but multiple helicopters began circling with their lights within 5 minutes of sighting.

Triangle UFO hovering on top of my home then accelerate very fast, after illuminating center white light.

I was on my living room sofa, watching late movie with the volume down since kids were just went to bed after their summer school at Ridgecrest.

I heard humming sound with the electric current from outside. Initially I thought it was someone is driving their EV or Hybrid, because my Optima Hybrid made similar sound at its EV mode. However, sound seems very loud compare to any other hybrid car that I have seen.

So, I looked out the window, which was just next to my sofa. There was nothing on the street. But there was a triangle shape flying UFO hovering, or very slowly moving, on top of my home. I was looking at it for may be 10 to 15 seconds or more. I was speechless at first, but I think I said to myself, "What ((deleted)) is that? What the hell is that thing??? OMG!!! How can it hovering, without making any sound...but I can feel electric humming sound." These are the words that I was talking to myself during the observation. So I was probably witnessing less than 20 seconds or so, approximately. I need to stop the incidence report here for moment and describe my initial sighting of this object back in January 2015.

I was walking outside my home on the night of January 5, 2015, approximately around 07:50 PM, I witnessed a strange flying object that does not flying like a plane or helicopter. And it was flying at very slow speed with not so high altitude. It was definitely higher than tall trees in PV, but much lower than conventional flying altitude of helicopter. I went to my car and grab a binocular and saw the object and, it was a somewhat triangle shape (not the perfect triangle, I was not too sure about the perfect or not due to the visibility was not clear) with the 3 flashing red lights on each corner. There was a center bright light on bottom and top which was on and off. Ever since, my curiosity lead me to follow the object whenever I saw it. It used to come up in the same area at same hours. It seems to have regular schedule of flying hours. Then sometime in May or June, it was stop showing itself. I was pretty much forgot about it since it did not show and had busy work schedule and with the kids...

Now going back to the story that I paused for minute. This almost perfect triangle shape was hovering very low on top of my home which is probably about at 4 story high, less than 40-50 feet high. I was able to see very clearly..its shape, material of the body. When I first saw back in January with my binocular, I thought it was a black color, but it was more like a silver or gray, hard describe its color, but very materialistic color, may be like graphite.

However, it was not pulsating red flash light in three corners. It was a white flash lights in the three corners, but no center light. My phone was at my computer desk and was charging and I did not want to miss the opportunity to witness the close up encounter with this object.

Suddenly, my cat jump up to the window and I was surprised by sudden presence of my cat and made a sound. The object seems to notice that I was watching it at that moment. It quickly began to emit very bright center light with the high charging electric sound which last only may be less than two seconds, then it began to accelerate toward the ocean very fast for about 50 feet then got disappeared.

After I witness the UFO, I searched online and trying to find out about the object online and close thing that I discover was a flying object called TR3B. However, it was not entirely the same from one that I saw. If you type TR3B on You tube, then you can see video image from France, it was illuminating center light bottom and top and disappeared in front of your eyes. However one that I saw was only from the bottom portion center was illuminate. and moving speed approximately 50 feet was just blink of an eye, less than second or so.

It was not very big. It was probably only about 1.5-2 times bigger than my Optima. I was able to feel our window was vibrating at that time when the object was hovering our home.

Perhaps, I am exaggerating, but it seems like it was checking on me because I was following it for few months every time I saw it. My wife told me to stop thinking about it and maybe I better stop thinking about it. I did not expect it to show up on top of my home.

Bright, amber colored sphere dances around night sky near coast of RPV, CA; remained stationary multiple times before moving.

A friend and I were sitting outside on his porch listening to music at around 10:00 PM. After awhile my eyes drifted up towards and sky and I started to star gaze. Some time after I started to star gaze, I became fixed on a certain star that seemed to keep holding my attention. It was noticeably brighter than most other stars that were visible that night, and have a very characteristic amber color to it. However, after studying it a bit longer, it appeared to be much closer in terms of distance than the other stars that were visible.

After maybe another ten minutes of studying this star, it started to move at a very slow and steady pace. I started to think maybe it was just aircraft, although it was much, much too high to be an commercial airliner. This lead me to believe it could have just been a satellite. Yet, those thoughts were soon pushed out of my mind completely.

About 2-3 minutes after it initially started to cruise, the object stopped, and then started to go back to the space where it came from. It continued to move back and forth in this manner for 3-4 minutes. At this point I was certain it wasn't an aircraft or a satellite. I kept looking at the object, thinking maybe my eyes were just playing tricks on me from staring at one place for so long.

I looked away for a minute or two to rest my eyes, then looked back up towards the object. After staying stationary for a few more moments, it started to move again, but this time in multiple different directions. It would go forward, back, side-to-side, etc., all while coming to complete stops multiple times and then continuing to move about (almost as if inertia had no effect on it). This continued for about ten minutes, and during this time I was able to point it out to my friend who also confirmed that he could see the object moving. I'd like to note that while it was moving, a faint trail of light followed behind it, resembling a sort of little tail at the end of the object.

By this time, it was after 11:00 PM. The object remained stationary for quite some time after it had done all that moving about (but stayed in the same general area the whole time). I kept my eye on it, waiting for it to make its next move. After staying in place for about 15 minutes, the object moved again, this time moving in an arc pattern that was EXTREMELY noticeable. Seeing it move this way made it certain that my eyes were not playing tricks on me. After this, it continued its previous moving patterns from the beginning, which I continued to observe until approx. 11:50 PM. At that time I drove home, the object still being there when I left. Unfortunately, the area this occurred at is not visible from where I live, so once I left my friend's house, I was only left to wonder how long it stayed there.

I feel it's important to note that I felt very, "otherworldly," when I was observing this object. While this sounds a bit cliché, I definitely felt something when looking at it. Some sort of connection possibly, that I could feel that this object was not of this world. Then again, I could have just been awestruck. I plan to keep an eye on the night skies more often, though.

3 Possible Missile Launches Seen @ Sunset off Los Angeles, CA (appx) 50nm

I could not find ANY information on what was seen about 50 nm off the coast of Palos Verdes. Please excuse me if I go ahead and just tell you about what was seen - even if it has nothing to do with UAP's.

The few who were around me at the time, all witnessed a typical plume of a vapor trail which obviously looked identical to the one seen around Nov 10 2010 - off the coast here. I watched it through the setting sun and thought it was simply a contrail of a jet flying from west to east and coming up over the horizon. There was one prominent one and two other smallish 'launches' at the same time, with that spiral looking plume, contrail or vapour trail behind each. They were very slow. But really far off to the west. It was quite strange to also note these long, far-reaching shadows that all eminated from the set-sun but it was these strange contrail-looking plumes that had cast the shadows across the sky.

I only want to know if in fact they were launches from somewhere west of us. I CANNOT find ANYTHING ANYWHERE on the Net about this at this time. Nothing said on "Coast to Coast", and can find absolutely nothing about it on the Internet (NASA, NOAA, and indeed on Google) - and it was MORE of a sight to see this time.

3 then 4 lights above Santa Monica Bay, directly aligned above each other, flashing green and red.

While driving from the top of the peninsula down to PV drive West, we saw 3 bright lights in the sky on the opposite side of Santa Monica Bay above Malibu. It seemed odd to us that stars would be aligned so perfectly like that, so we kept watching to see if they were planes, or thought maybe our shifting view would clarify what they were.

Our view was obstructed for two minutes, and as we approached Palos Verdes Drive W. (we were on Via Coronel at this point), the lights came in to view again, unchanged. Our view was obstructed again as we approached the Palos Verdes Drive West, and was blocked by trees as we headed North for around 1/4 mile. When there was a break in the trees, we pulled over to give it a better look, and again we saw the lights.

The lights were definitely above land, though not extremely high in the sky. They were as bright or brighter than how Venus usually appears. We guessed that there was around 1000 ft between each light. It seemed odd to us that stars would be aligned so perfectly like that, and while we were watching, the middle and upper light started flashing. The light on top was flashing green and the middle light flashed red. This continued for approximately one minute, then suddenly a fourth white light zoomed in from the East and into position directly over the green light, and a second or two later the lowest light took off in the opposite direction.

Following that, the red and green lights turned white again. Then one by one, the three remaining lights appeared to be moving away into the opposite direction of where we were. First, the uppermost light became fainter and fainter, then the middle light and finally the lowest light remained, becoming fainter, and then disappeared. The entire event probably lasted 30 minutes, though the initial alignment that we saw may have been like that for awhile.

Bright blue lights, characteristically a saucer, moving erratically and quickly around Redondo Beach and Palos Verdes.

My brother notified me that something strange was in the sky and we quickly made our way to the outside porch. A brightly-lit blue saucer was moving up and down, in-circles, and every which way, at an incredible speed. It very quickly moved up into the atmosphere and down into the neighborhoods of Redondo Beach and Palos Verdes Estates. It finally disappeared into a wooded area less than 100 yards from the ocean, near Haggerty's church.

Stealth Bomber-like shape but invisible body of craft (Lights outlined shape)

My family was BBQing outside on a warm evening looking up at the stars. We spotted about 12 blue/green lights in a wide V-formation. They glided slowly in unison across the sky. Then we saw red/orange lights in a similar formation gliding behind them. As we "connected the dots" of these lights we clearly saw that we were looking at a single invisible craft that resembled the Stealth Bomber's shape but this thing was the size of a football field.

It did not sound like an aircraft; it had a low and constant HUMMMM. It was flying low and slow as if wanting to be noticed. I commented to my family members that maybe it was a government plane of some sort.

They said, "No way. That thing is huge AND you can see the stars right through it!" I was relieved that four of us witnessed this. The craziest part was the invisibility. If it weren't for the lights that outlined the shape we wouldn't have seen a thing. Had I been alone and told this later no one would believe me

Circular Flying Craft with glowing tube of light around perimeter seen less than 1000 yards away.

On October 30, 2008 I was driving up into Palos Verdes, CA, on Palos Verdes Blvd. coming from Redondo Beach, CA at approximately 7:50 PM to pick up some food I ordered. When I got up into the beginning area of Palos Verdes just passing the shopping center on my left I saw a circular object, straight ahead and slightly to my right that had a tube ring of light that wrapped around its perimeter.

The best way to describe this light was if you were to take a straight tube fluorescent bulb and bend it to wrap around into a circle. This was around the perimeter of the object and was glowing powerfully, with a slight blue hue to it. There was also a square shaped lighting tube that was off to one side of the object that was the same color and intersected with the round shaped tube of light but was much smaller in overall size in comparison. The second I had caught view of the object it had made a very quick, smooth flight pattern that I would say was a 60-70 degree angle straight upward in the sky but still in my view. The instant I saw this I couldn’t believe what I was seeing because it was so close. I could easily say it was less than 1000 yards away at its farthest point during my sighting. As I saw the object make that quick flight pattern, I was continuing to drive straight when I glanced to my right to see a couple that was off the side of the road, standing beside their car, already trying to take pictures of the craft. I thought, “my god they are seeing it too and who knows for how long before me.” After stopping at a stop sign immediately after and continuing to drive forward I see the craft lowering itself from the point it had stopped from the previous flight pattern. I then pull over the side of the rode where there are houses lined on the street. My eyes are staying focused on the object the whole time. I’m staring at this craft object through my windshield off to my right which is slowly lowering itself while making a flight pattern quite strange. I get out of my car trying not to loose even a second of looking at the object. The craft is swaying back and forth from right to left, to left to right. Then it begins to simply lower straight down very slowly and smooth until it is out of vision, below the elevated plateau I’m standing on. The area it was flying over and eventually lowering itself was over the ocean as Palos Verdes is a town with several layers of elevated plateaus and oceanside cliffs.

I then quickly get back in my car to turn around to see if the couple I saw was still there but they weren’t. I’m not sure if they would have seen the lower flight pattern it took because from their position you can’t see over the ocean and there are trees that possibly blocked their vision from their angle of view. I then try to drive down to a lower area to see if the craft was still hanging around beyond where I could see. I got down very close to the ocean, cliffside, but I saw nothing. The object was gone.

I was completely baffled and couldn’t believe what I had seen. The fact that it was so close and could see it so clearly felt unreal to me. I tried to rationalize during and after the sighting what it could have been. There was only one thing I could come up with other than it being some “other worldly” craft. I thought maybe some talented guys had built a circular, remote controlled craft and were flying it. I then thought that this was not likely true because the lighting of the craft was simply too magnificent and the craft likely too large. That powerfully glowing tube of light around the perimeter was a light like I’ve never seen before. The couple that was taking pictures must have been awed enough to stop and take pictures. Also, that beginning flight pattern of the craft shooting straight upward at a 60-70 degree angle was too fast. Conclusions I came to were as follows: - This was a “flying craft” of some sort that was being “controlled” somehow.

- The object was obviously circular shaped - I have NEVER seen anything like this - The size of the object was estimated to be about the size of a car or larger considering the relation to the landscape and how close I it was to me.

- The craft made no sound that I could here.

I will never forget what I saw. I would love more than anything to know exactly what it was. I feel strange that I saw this so close to me. It was not just some point of light in the distance. I don’t know what to do with my experience as it was so “baffling” and feel incredibly unsettled about it. The thing I’m most intrigued about was the lighting. I’m not a 100% believer in UFOs and this lighting was like nothing I’ve ever personally heard reported in peoples sightings.

Powerful light with odd-shaped trails pierced the clouds

Please don't contact me - probably not a UFO as I don't believe in them, and did not see a craft - but a weird occurence nonetheless. Saw a very powerful, wide, white light 40 minutes past sunset that must have been playing some unusual tricks with the clouds. It was dark, and very cloudy (marine layer). The light was bright as a star, but about 5-10 times bigger to my eye - a bit bigger than a golf ball, but much smaller than the moon. There was an odd shaping of lit clouds or some sort of light trail forming fast off both sides, starting narrow at the ball, and getting wider as it went out, but changing shape rapidly. I pulled my car over, saw what looked to be what I call a "God" effect, with light piercing through a tunnel hole in the clouds, creating sort of a corona on the sides. I thought it might be the sun going through an unusual hole in the clouds, but it happened at 7:00, well after sunset. The cloud trails reminded me of missile testing i've seen before, but the sky was too cloudy. I never thought helicopter because I didn't hear anything - so it's a mystery. I then continued to see bright light lighting above the clouds in one patch until I got to my house three minutes later. Then it faded. I kept checking every 5 minutes or so, but did not see anythiong. Then, 20 minutes later, I went back outside with my son, who asked what the blue light was above the clouds, which were turning the otherwise gray marine clouds blue in a small area, which was the same direction I was observing the earlier white light. (to the West - over the ocean ?) I told him I didn't know, but 5 minutes later it faded for good. End of story - do not return e-mail or contact me please.

It started high in the ski to the NE and made its way to ground level and emitted a quick sound, like muted thunder. Perhaps the sound came from something else and was coincidentally at the same time? Thought I'd mention it, maybe someone else happened to be looking up around that time...

Strange, angular object clearly seen flying over Palos Verdes Peninsula in California.

I was driving home from the Los Verdes Golf Course on the Palos Verdes Peninsula during the summer of 1986. Truthfully, it has been so long that I may be off by a year or so on the date, but it was the middle of summer. LVGC is on the west side of the peninsula, near the top of the hill above the Pacific Ocean. The time was about 5 pm or 6 pm and the sky was clear and sunny.

As I began to drive down the hill towards the ocean on Hawthorne Blvd, I noticed a strange flying object, near the cliffs on the water. It was moving slowly, no more than 20-40 mph. The position of the object was south of the Point Vicente lighthouse by about a mile or two. The object was very angular, oblong and shaped oddly which is why I believe that I noticed it at all. We were used to seeing small planes, helicopters and the Goodyear Blimp flying around the peninsula. The thing I witnessed was not any of those. It did not appear as if it should be able to fly. No wings, no rotors, no jet engines (it was not disc shaped either). As I drove down the hill, I had a pretty good look at it, but it was probably about a mile or two away (as a crow flies). I have attempted to sketch what I saw in the "1-2 miles away" drawing. This first half of my sighting lasted about 15-20 seconds. Then as I was driving down the hill I lost sight of the object behind fences and houses.

Once at the bottom of the hill, I pulled my car into the Safeway parking lot and got out. I had a really good look at the thing for about another 10-15 seconds as it flew between some hills. My second sketch depicts a side view of the craft. Again, this view showed the angular construction of the object but this time it was closer. The color was dull gray. I could clearly see rectangular, opaque panels on the side of the craft. A notched cutout was visible on the bottom near the front. No lights at all were visible but again it was still very light outside. It was moving slowly at low altitude, no more than 500 ft up.

I have never submitted a report of this incident. Back when it happened, I absolutely expected that I would soon be reading about it in the newspapers. Nothing was ever reported that made the news, at least not that I saw. I am still amazed that a bunch of people did not see and report this flying object. The only thing peculiar that I can think of regarding the location of the object was that it was near the old NIKE missile site up on the hill. This NIKE site was converted and now houses city government offices. During the twenty odd years that have passed since I saw this thing, I have never seen a picture of a UFO on TV or otherwise that looks like what I saw that day.

Late at night in the summer of 1979 a huge chevron shapped UFO flew silently and slowly just above the rooftops of So. California

I don’t remember the exact date, but it was several weeks into the first summer where my family was living (Rancho Palos Verdes, California) at the time I saw the craft, and that’s how I know approximately what month and year it was. I was 11 years old at the time and I just learned to swim a few weeks earlier, and the first thing my dad taught me was to float because if I could float I would never be afraid of the water. Floating in the pool and looking up at the stars at night quickly became one of my favorite things to do on hot summer nights. This particular night very hot, even late into the evening it was still hot so I decided to cool off in the pool. I turned off all the lights in the yard and only had the pool light turned on. It was a perfect night for star gazing because it was a clear night with no clouds. My dad and brothers were in the dessert for a few days to ride motorcycles, and my mom was at a neighbor’s house so I was the only one a! t home. My mom recently showed me how to find Orion’s belt in the sky and I remember those stars were almost directly above me as I floated. After about 10 minutes of gazing at the stars, suddenly the stars in the east part of the sky began to disappear. At first I thought maybe clouds were rolling in, but I had never seen dark clouds before. It seemed odd that any clouds would appear on such a hot night anyways, and I didn’t understand what could be blocking out the starlight? Then I began to see an area that was blocking the stars take shape and I could see the edges of a pointed tip slowly moving directly above me. The pointed tip headed west, and the edges stretched from the tip down each side at an angle like a wide triangle (chevron). Each side stretched out from north to south at an angle for about 150 feet in each direction. Our yard was about 90 feet wide and the total distance reached beyond my yard and into the neighbors yard on both sides (the entire wid! th was about 300 to 350 feet total, the lots are big in that n! eighborh ood). There was no sound at all. It was traveling east to west because I know the sun came up in the direction that it came from, and set in the direction it was heading. Our house was two stories high and the craft was flying no more than 15-20 feet above the rooftop. My best estimate is that it was about 55-60 feet from the ground. It moved very, very slowly. As I watched in sheer wonder, I was amazed that something this large could fly so slowly and so low to the ground and not make any noise at all. I could hardly see the surface because it was almost the same color as the night sky but slightly darker, not quite black, but almost black. If I wasn’t looking up at the stars and watching the stars being slowly blocked out as it passed over, I may not have even noticed it. As the craft passed overhead for about 30 seconds, the point of the front of the craft was already over the roof our house, and it was still blocking my entire view of the sky. I remember being s! truck with awe as faint lights started to show up through the trees that lined the east side of the yard. The lights were different colored (red, orange, yellow, and green) glowing on the bottom of the craft. These were not normal lights that illuminated light outward like a flash light does, but rather these areas of light seemed to be coming from an inner light source that was shining just few inches beyond the exterior of the craft, and had a very soft dim glow. I had never seen anything like this and I starred at the lights to try to see details. When the lights were directly above me I could see that the light was coming out of a round opening. I looked directly up into the opening and I noticed a shimmer effect that warped the dim light source similar to how fish scales shimmer when light hits the scales. Mixed with this shimmer effect was a smoke-like effect that distorted the edges of the round shape of the lights and it appeared to me that the light source wa! s inset deep into the surface of the openings. There were two! rows of these openings, one on the right (north) and another row on the left (south). The distance between the rows was about 18 feet (a little wider than the width of our pool). The lights within each row were spaced about 3 feet apart, and the size of each opening was about 1 foot in diameter. There were approximately 8-10 openings in each row, alternating in colors. It seemed like it took about 90 seconds to completely pass over our rooftop. At this point I hurried to get out of the pool, ran through the house, out the front door, and over to the neighbors house next door calling out to my mom. We lived at the top of a hill, and just before I got to the steps of our neighbors door the craft was moving over the top of the houses on the opposite side of the street. I was knocking on the door, and yelling to hurry up and come to the front yard quick. By the time everyone came outside the craft was beyond the viewable line of sight because it was flying so low. They missed ! it unfortunately, and I tried to describe it to them and convince them to get in the car to go find it so they can see it. They were in no mood to do that, and they assumed I must have seen a blimp because blimps used to fly over our neighborhood. I knew it was not a blimp because I had seen the blimp fly over before during the day and at sometimes at night. The blimp that used to fly over would never fly that low to the roofs of houses. I knew a blimp could never block out the sky as much as the craft I saw. The craft I saw huge, and was not shaped like a blimp, but rather a large wide triangle like shape, more like a chevron shape and not an elongated oval like a blimp shape. Also, blimps make noise even though they are quiet, but the craft I saw didn’t make any noise at all, it was perfectly silent. I will never forget this, and I’m glad I can finally share my experience. I heard about the website on the radio that encouraged to share any sightings no matter how ! long it’s been. I hope the details I’ve given are useful to U! FO resea rch.

Two to three large blue flashes, freeze seven boys in their tracks

At around 19:00 hours in 1978 or 1979, seven boys witnessed two to three large blue tinted flashes in Palos Verdes. This was on the corner of Elmbridge Drive and Browndeer Lane.

Parents were inside a home there at a dinner party. We thought one of them had played a trick on us, but none were around. The color was similar to some police car lights. No sounds once this happened in air or in street. Was a still night. No breeze. No sound from air, or street. We had seen the Good Year Blimp many times in the area over the years but this was not it.

The two or three bluish lights or flashes, all encompassing flashes, seemed to illuminate the whole street and side of houses and trees across Browndeer lane. Silent flashes like an electrical event but no clouds or wind. No power lines either in this area. We all froze for five seconds or so.

teen girl alone by stable sees dark grey hovering sphere

I was alone filling a bucket of water for a horse and noticed a dark grey sphere hovering stationery maybe 50 ft above the ground. I couldn't tell its size, or really its altitude. I addressed it, i.e. introduced myself, and asked it to wait.

I then ran up the hill to my house from the stable, and checked back a couple times to see if it was still there and it was until just before i entered the house. After I went up two flights of stairs and looked out a big picture window, having gotten my parents attention, it was gone.

I must have been about 14 at the time, maybe 15. At the time I was a high school student at a prestigious Southern California Prep School, and an award winning equestrian. I was mostly interested in science and wanted to become an astronaut.

My freshman year at Stanford I became ill and changed majors from physics to Values Technology and Society, and ultimately became a doctor. I now practice ob/gyn.

I have never seen any other UFO.

There seemed to be no dissipation of the glow coming from the sphere. It surrounded it, stretched in one direction and stopped!?

As my friend and I neared the end of our month-long drift down the Colorado River, we noticed a concentrated illumination going from right to left and stretching halfway across, maybe 300 meters downstream. We speculated it was coming from car headlights, but reminded ourselves we were still quite a ways from a driveable road. Guiding ourselves close to the bank using partially submerged stumps and branches to steer us, we came to an inlet and up on the bank which rose at about 30 degrees we observed an incandescent sphere of light hovering about three feet above the ground and perfectly still. It was somewhere between twelve and sixteen feet in diameter and was no more than 30 or 40 feet away from us on the level ground above the bank. We observed it for the longest six minutes or so and noticed that it appeared perfectly symmetrical and hazily transparent except for an irregularly shaped denser bluish-green core, maybe four feet across and two feet high. We could not see through this portion of the sphere. It made no sound and eerily all sounds on the river (muskrats diving in etc.) seemed to have ceased from when we first noticed the (beam) light. Holding our position right by the bank, I considered the prospect of exiting the boat and walking up to the sphere. Before I actually decided on this, the sphere moved both upwards and backwards in the blink of an eye shot into the clear black sky. I kept my eyes fixed at the point where it had seemed to disappear and within seconds observed an emerald green streak shooting from right to left at about 15-20 degrees. The whole thing lasted only a fraction of a second and we let go of the branches anchoring us we resumed drifting downstream. My friend and I and talked about the event(s) facing each other seated in the boat, he at the bow, I at the back facing foward. It was only minutes later that I observed what seemed to be a bright triangular opening in the sky at 11 or 12 o'clock and this turned into a widening bright puff and eventually something similar to a smoke ring before disappearing. I have since come to recognize this as a probable Vandenberg launch which would easily enough date the event exactly as I am only guessing now at the date. I was pointing this out to my friend when suddenly the river came alive with the sound of helicopters. We had now positioned our boat close to the center of the river and though it appeared the craft was flying along both banks, we could not tell how many there were. They were apparently painted in a dark color and try as we could, neither of us could make out any markings on the fanthom shapes. If there were any lights, they were minimal and they used no floodlights or other means to illuminate the area. We did not sleep that night and when the next morning we came across the first riverside business in almost a month, we inquired if anything unusual had been reported the night before, and were told "nothing."

NUFORC Note:

We are confused by several elements of this report. Perhaps the witnesses observed a launch from Vandenberg AFB, but their description is of something much closer. Moreover, missiles are launched to the south from Vandenberg, so a missile would not have been seen from the Colorado River moving from left to right, unless it was a launch out into the Pacific. However, we believe that those launches, intended to test the anti-ballistic missile capability of rockets launched in the mid-Pacific Ocean, began only relatively recently, not in 1971. We have asked for clarification from the party who submitted the report. PD
