Bright, orange red light came from behind the mountains travelling north east, disappeared behind mountains to the east. It was silent, moving steadily, rate of speed similar to an airplane.

Witnessed an intense white-blue globe of light hovering above the cliffs at Castle Crags

I'm reporting this now because of some strange things I keep hearing about this area. Castle Crags is located about 10 miles south of Mount Shasta. I pass through this area almost every other year hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, and always see unusual lights in the skies after dark. They usually have triangular configurations. And occasionally I find Bigfoot tracks hiking along this route. I was outside my tent and it was really late at night, I was unable to get to sleep because of the heat that summer. A flash of light further up the canyon caught my attention. A shining, white-blue globe of light I estimated to be about the size of a vehicle was seen hovering over the cliffs of Castle Crags, about two miles away from where I was camping. It hung in the air, glowing with a cold white intensity for a few seconds, crackling like a ball of lighting, and then instantly vanished. Almost like a portal opening and closing again. This is a very weird area to explore, there's a lot of Bigfoot activity, mines, caves, stories about lost treasures, and even some strange rock carvings located along a creek up this canyon below Castle Crags. But this was the first time I ever saw something like portal-related activity occurring in the area.This sighting was also seen by 3 other witnesses camping nearby. We all gathered and talked about it but weren't sure what it was. We thought maybe something burning fell out of the sky, but that didn't make sense, because it just hung in the air for a few seconds. It was one of the closest encounters with a weird object I've ever had. I hiked up the creek the next day to the rock carvings, but didn't see anything out of the ordinary. I've heard a lot of stories about this place, and after seeing this I'm more inclined to believe they might be true.

Big, bright light that left tracers behind it, which abruptly stopped in the sky until it later blinked out of sight.

My fiancée and I were driving south on I-5, around Dunsmuir, California. At around 10 PM we both witnessed a bright, circular light on the south east horizon. We were listening to the radio and both noticed the light in the sky.

After 10 seconds it disappeared and my fiancée interrupted the silence asking, "Did you just see that?" I quickly replied, "YES!! I DID!" Then about another 10 seconds later to the east of us we noticed the light flickering then it dipped down in a swirling motion, leaving traces of light in it's path and it disappeared again.

My fiancée told me that when she first saw it she thought it was a giant shooting star, because it had a trace of light following it. She was excited because she had never seen a shooting star, but then the light abruptly stopped in the sky and stayed there until it blinked out of sight (and then later appeared to the east like I described).

We know it was not a plane, it was much bigger than a star, an! d it was far too high in the sky to be a street light.

Whatever it was, we can not explain. She never fully believed in UFO's until our experience.

Black object moving over railroad tracks

My friend and I were staying at his family cabin next to the river. We were headed to different colleges in Sept so this was a kind of departing trip - the end of High School and the start of a new chapter in life. During the days we would hang out at the river, hike around, fish, etc. But at night we would go to a bench next to the railroad tracks because the stars were visible. Yes, we would drink and carry on until well drunk, like normal 18 year old boys.

I want to emphasize we were completely sober during the sighting.

The night of sighting, just as the sun had set, we started walking to the bench. The path took us alongside the creek, over a bridge, and then a footpath through the forest. We were chatting and walking through the forest which was quite dense with tall Douglas fir. The path through the forest ended with the clearing made for the railroad tracks. The tracks were on a raised gravel berm of sorts with about 10feet of gravel on either side, then another 10 feet or so of dirt.

My friend was walking ahead of me and just as we entered the clearing, he stopped abruptly. I actually ran into him gently as he stared. I was literally looking over his shoulder. We both looked up and it seemed like there was some kind of giant black object or shape in front of us. I can’t say anything about the contours or dimensions but something massive was in front of us. The object then accelerated instantly to something like 1,000 mph are shot southwards down the tracks in under half a second. The curvature of the tracks in this mountainous area was such the trains in that area move at a crawl. Some have suggested it could have been a runway train but that is simply not possible - nor did it sound anything like a train which makes a clack-clack-clack sound. Whatever it was seemed to be hovering above the tracks and when it became aware of our presence and shot away instantly.

It did not make any wind that I can recall, but I felt an incredible low-frequency vibration in my body, like a deep bass note at a concert. Also, the fencing and other outbuildings further down the tracks shook with this low frequency energy as it zipped off - the craft itself did not seem to make any noise but the rumble vibrated everything on each side of it.

It was terrifying and we ran back to the cabin. We didn't really understand when it was happening that this was a UFO. It was not a "lights up in the sky" sighting, this thing was less than 20 feet from us. I cannot overstate how incomprehensible this event was and how scared we were.
