Triangle shaped lights moving across the sky, then it ‘parked’ and stayed in one spot for a long time.

I was sitting on my deck and looked up into the sky, and I saw triangle shaped lights off in the distance. I watched it while it went across the sky slowly without sound until it went over my house.

About halfway across the sky, I noticed two other lights that were chasing it, but they never caught up. Or it looked like they were chasing it.

Later I came out and it was sitting in one spot for a long time. 20 minutes?

Driving north on NC-540, we noticed a dark object hovering over highway. We saw a second smaller object pass through or behind it.

My son and I were driving north on NC-540 heading to a soccer game at around 11:30 AM. We drive this route often and I am used to seeing aircraft take off from and land at RDU airport near this spot of the highway. As I watched a plane take off from RDU heading northwest from several miles away, a much smaller dark object hovering in the sky caught my eye because it was between us and the plane. At first I assumed it was a large bird (they are common in our area) but then as we got closer, it seemed to be much larger than a bird, perhaps the size of a truck. I then thought it was a cluster of black balloons that were tied together. But it was stationary, hovering roughly 200-250 feet directly over the highway without drifting. We steadily approached it driving 70 mph and eventually reached directly underneath it. My son used his phone to capture video as both of us watched a second smaller object (same color--dark and solid) approach the larger hovering object. The small object appeared to either go through the larger object or go behind it. This occurred just a few seconds before we passed directly underneath it, at which point my son tried to capture it by moving his phone camera to look through our car's moon roof, and we could see we were still passing directly beneath it. That was the end of our sighting as we could not safely stop, nor could we make a detour to find it because we were running late to his soccer game. As we continued on NC-540 toward our destination (WRAL Soccer Complex on the northeast side of Raleigh), we saw a large helicopter, which looked military to me, heading away from Raleigh in the direction of I-95/Wilson.

A silent orange light flew low and quickly in a straight line due north along Gorman St. and vanished in a wink.

On Thursday, 02/08/2024, around 10:30 PM, I was opening the trunk of my car at an apartment complex on the 1500 block of Gorman Street, when I noticed an orange light in the sky. It was to my left (west) maybe a few blocks over, about 50-60 degrees up in the sky, and moving due north at a consistent speed. I turned and looked, thinking it was a low-flying helicopter or plane. There was no noise, aside from the sound of some light traffic coming and going. The object was bright orange, but its glow was dull like the setting sun (not like bright headlights or streetlights) with a consistent luminosity throughout the light. There may have been some structure to it, but if there was, it was obscured by the glow of the circular light. There were no aviation lights (white,red, or green) or other lights visible. The light may have had a slow, slight pulse around the edge but did not blink at all. It flew north in a straight line along Gorman Street, faded very slightly for a fraction of a second, and "blinked" out of existence mid-flight without slowing down. The light moved at pace maybe slightly faster than a car; it did not seem to vary in altitude, speed or direction at any point from when I first notice it until its sudden disappearance. It appeared to be several hundred feet above the treetops, and maybe the size of a small car or plane. Again, it was completely silent. There was no consistent breeze, and the sky was 100% clouded over. I instinctively reached for my phone, but it wasn't in my pocket so I watched the light for several (as little as 3 or 4, maybe as long as 7-8) seconds before it disappeared suddenly. I stood and watched to see if it would return or if there were other lights, but I didn't see anything. Around 10 minutes later, I was standing on my back porch and noticed a helicopter a few miles to the north and another several miles west of me. I could hear both of them and clearly see their aviation lights, so I know whatever flew by was not a helicopter or plane.

Falling object and two possible aircraft

While driving west on Lynn Rd I noticed what I originally thought was a meteor. It appeared to be something falling with a tail lit up behind it. I also noticed 2 small objects to the right of the falling object. I thought they were small planes watching from a safe distance what was happening. They were just lights or light reflecting from the sun off of them. Instantly one of the small lights disappeared, and then the other did as well. The falling object made a steep change towards the opposite direction and continued to fall. I watched as I turned north on Leesville Rd until the trees obstructed my view. I took a picture on my phone of the falling object from my car. The object appears just above the lower trees on the left. You have to zoom in to see it. It looks like a fuzzy streak and that distance.

Shiny contrail-less craft following jet airliner

I was admiring tonight's amazing sunset as I walked my dogs. A passing jet had just added a beautiful arcing contrail to the scene and I thought to take a photo of it. Before I could get my phone out of my pocket, however, I saw another craft right behind it. It was extremely shiny and angular. I could not make out much more as I only saw it for seconds (it was nowhere to be seen by the time I got out my phone). What caught my eye was that it seemed to be near the airliner but left no contrail of its own.

I am a Navy veteran and familiar with all types of aircraft. I am also a drone pilot and do not believe this was a drone.

In the photo, the craft would have been in the sky in the area directly above the porch light and slightly below the contrail.

Silent triangular craft seen flying over Raleigh

My wife and I were walking in our neighborhood and noticed a triangle of lights flying silently in the same direction we were waking (southeast). There were three solid warm white lights at the corners, with a red light in the center of the triangle blinking at a steady interval. I only made out the lights but my wife says she could see the outline of the craft. It was flying roughly SE before banking south. We continued to watch it fly south towards downtown Raleigh until it went out of view beyond the tree line. Another regular looking aircraft was present flying in a normal northward flight path. Other aircrafts were seen in the area after, but none seemed unusual and all were in typical flight paths for this area. There is generally a lot of air traffic in this area. Observers were two mid-30s adults who are working professionals. We were able to record a video of the craft, though it was difficult to see the details in the video. We are not interested in releasing the rights to this footage at this time.

String of lights over Raleigh near falls lake

Near Falls Lake walked out of the house. Wife looked up and said "what's that". I said probably birds. She then said "birds that have lights?" Conditions sparse clouds, dark. Second look I could see a string of lights heading west to east in an subtle arc. Moving at a pace probably double to triple a commercial airliner. Evenly spaced if I held a ruler to the sky I would say 1/2 inch apart from my vantage point. Some were a little higher than others all moving steady in the same direction. When they hit a certain spot in the sky they disappeared one by one as if going behind a curtain. They came into view in the west about 25% (1/4 distance from horizon) across the night sky disappearing at about the same point in the east. My 18 year old son also saw this. We tried to film it but it came out too dark to see. The lights were very very high in the sky

I saw two lights moving in an irregular pattern. They were spaced too far apart to be connected on an airplane and I saw nothing connecting them, but they were moving perfectly in tandem. They were alternately fading in and out (one became brighter as the other faded out). They eventually moved so that only one was visible above the trees - and that one moved suddenly in a different direction and then stationed in the sky. I was at an intersection and had to drive before I could see anything more.

It was 5:29 am and I looked up at the night sky. I saw one white dot moving across the sky. It was moving very fast. It stayed solid and then flickered a little bit. It then turned back solid. Another object moved right behind it at the same speed. There were about ten objects in one line moving at the same speed to the same place. There was no line connecting them. There was then a break in the objects and a less bright light came slower from another direction following them. Then more of the bright objects came by. T his was repeated about 4-5 times. They were all white and very bright. They looked like stars or satellites. However, I could not make out a distinct shape.

On that Saturday afternoon, at approximately 13:30 hours, December 14, while walking in my neighborhood, I looked up as I usually do to watch for birds in tops of trees. In the clear sky ahead at about a 30 degree angle I saw 7-8 small perfect circles that were brilliant white. First several – 4 or 5 of them on the left side of the asymmetrical group appeared to bounce. Then one perfect circle became elliptical and gray and appeared to join the right hand grouping of 3-4. For a second or two, they appeared to be in formation with four circles forming a rectangle and three circles following as they moved slowly to the left and then suddenly disappeared.

My daughter and I were in the hot tub last night and we both saw light in light that lite up the sky and our home and thought it was lightning and were about to jump out of water but we looked up at the sky and there was a fireball traveling unbelievably fast and then just disappeared.

It was way to low to be a shooting star and besides that I’ve never seen a shooting start with a blast of light at the beginning and then disappear in the manner that this did.

It was nothing neither of us had seen before and we both say there in complete amazement for a good while and new we had just witnessed something that was not from here.

I’m still in complete awe over the experience Can’t get it off my mind.

It was heading West. 3 lights blinking one at a time from West to East. Light blinking repeated once a second in total for all 3 lights blinking in a loop - 1,2,3 - 1,2,3 No engine sounds. Looked extremely wide/long from our view.

The light's rate of blinking sort of looks like normal aircraft. Only there were 3 lights, and all 3 lights moved together, and their blinking pattern was synced up as if highlighting a single shape. Unclear if disc/chevron/whatever.

If it was 3 helicopters, they did a really good job going at the same speed in the same direction, really really slow.

I've seen normal helicopters flying over my house before. Lights look different, and I can hear the engines.

Only other simplified guess I can make is some kids tied 3 drones together with a really really long fishing line. I wouldn't be surprised if it was more than 1 to 3 miles long. I'm no pilot or anything. So my ability to judge the distance/speed/size is based on only my understanding that a traffic light is as big as I am close up.

It was white in color and it was moving just enough to look like it was just hanging there floating around. I called two of my roomates to also look at it and they agreed it was moving but dissmissed it as a plane. However, it was not moving nearly enough to be a plane it was in the same area the entire two hours. Eventually I look outside around mid night and it was gone.

Pill shaped object seen flying behind and around airplane.

I was looking out of my window and saw what was clearly a plane with a short lasting contrail following the plane. I was inside so I’m not sure if there was a clear sound. Either way it looked like a normal plane. I first noticed it flying out of the southwest and it continued to fly into the northwestern part of the sky.

Suddenly, I noticed a second flying object and it wasn’t leaving a contrail, it just flew into the area i happened to be looking at from a lower altitude. The second object appeared white but it may have been a different color since stuff up high usually looks lighter than what it really is but it looked kinda like a pill shape and continued to fly into the contrails of the airplane quickly. It wasn’t flying abrutly but it was making maneuvers that I think would be difficult for a plane to make.

Then both of the objects moved out of my line of sight.

White cigar shaped UFO flew over small patch of sky I was watching at 7:28 AM

I was boredly watching the sky, waiting for the bus. The sky was only a patch, not a big open area. Since I'm an astronomy lover, I thought to myself, "What if I saw a UFO?". I had seen an assumed UFO two years back, but it didn't look anything like this one.

Anyways, I suddenly noticed this one white, shortish cigar object flying across the patch of sky slightly faster than a plane. The other people around were busy socializing. I narrowed my eyes, hearing my heart thump in my chest as I grew more excited.

I grabbed my phone, and the cigar-shaped object was almost out of view. I opened my camera as fast as I could, but it was too late, as the object had already flown out of view.

4 greenish-blue lights rotating around a red light, brief "meteor-like" sighting

Driving along 64 Westbound, about 1 mile east of Raleigh East Airport (W17). Saw a bright greenish-blue light (with a slight trail) appear about 10 degrees over the horizon (nearly directly west), RAPIDLY moving downward to the ground and disappearing. I assumed this was a meteor and made a joke about it being either a meteor, a missile or an UFO.

Within 10-20 seconds of this, the light reappeared at an elevation of about 40 degrees, still west of us. It appeared to be a series of 4 extremely bright greenish-blue lights forming a circle around a dim red light. The 4 lights were rapidly rotating around the red light (at ~15 RPM). This object rose rapidly, made a turn to the right (north) and suddenly shot back down to the earth (nearly identical to the original sighting but at MUCH closer range).

Distance, size and speed is hard to calculate at night (and with an object of unknown size). That said, the speed at which the object moved was roughly that of a fast moving meteor burning up in the atmosphere. The object was also much larger on the second sighting, so I'd assume that we were much closer.

Object 300 meter in the air crossing the sky like a rocket opens the walls of earth and explodes into thin air leaving just a trial

At about 5:15 am on 8/13/2016, just before the sunrise, about 300 meters in the air above highway 40 an object cross the sky at the speed of a rocket. My first thought was to be afraid fearing that it was a missel of some kind however certain things happen in the course of 30 seconds that were beyond human capabilities in my opinion. This option let behind it a trial of what appeared to be smoke similar to what a jet does as it crosses the sky only this option was moving so fast it appeared to be opening the earth around it. When it reached what seemed to be its peak it exploded into thin air. It look like I had just seen a black circler option open the walls of earth n disappear. I had to share this with someone because the trail of smoke remained in the air for a few seconds after the object exploded into thin air.

I'm a truck driver I see things shoot a cross the air all the time but I've never seen anything like this before in my life it seem impossible what I witnessed.

Star I was staring at for at least 5 mins flew down over the lake then directly at us. Was a craft with green fluorescent light

About 6 years ago me and 3 other friends are hanging out we decided to walk to the lake which was a short walk from their house. Once we got to the lake it was around 12am. I layed on my back and began to stargaze and search for the brightest stars in the sky. I find the star that is the brightest and begin to watch it and think about life. After around 5 mins I sit up and instantly out the corner of me eye towards the left in the direction of the lake I notice another star positioned perfectly where i could not see it while laying on my back. What was odd is that this was now the brightest star in the sky and i was wondering why i didn't notice it earlier while I was looking for the brightest stars. So I restarted the whole process of thinking about life because I now found the true brightest star.

I watched this star just as intensively as the last and did not break eye contact not once while thinking about whatever came to mind. The Universe, my past, my future, anything just life in general. But I still had the feeling like I should have noticed this star already. I watched it for about 5 mins, the same amount of time as the first star. I asked my friends randomly "Hey do y'all think that's a star or a satellite?" while pointing at it. I really didn't expect them to have any clue what star I was talking about because there were so many but as soon as I finished my sentence the star broke out of position and flew about 50ft over the lake that when i noticed that i definitely wasn't a star but it looked like a craft of some sort. Then it came directly at us in a straight line but moving very smoothly. At that point I started to freak out because I was just staring at this thing and it wasn't moving, it was up there with the stars.

I told my friends we should leave but they were all stuck with their mouths open. I started to move back towards the tree line. Then I decided that I needed to get a look at this thing at least. Once I looked back it changed directions as if it backed off because it knew I was scared. It's a crazy thing to say but I really feel like it knew I was scared and decided not to approach us. It got within a couple hundred ft and I noticed a green glow that almost seemed fluorescent right before it disappeared behind some trees. It made no noise at all.

Very bright light in evening sky where neither a star nor planet should be and then 3 pulsating lights came through the trees.

My husband and I were walking up our driveway around 8:45pm, extremely quiet night & the sky was still bright. We noticed a really bright stationary steady light (brighter than a planet) in the northeast sky. No other stars or planets were out. Just seemed out of place. It didn't move for about 10minutes (we were trying to figure if it was a planet or space station). Also, it was not where a planet would be (calibrated StarWalk to moon & nothing bright should be there). My husband was caught off guard & mentioned how it was changing colors. Then, it disappeared. We looked for it about 2-3 minutes and all of a sudden reappeared in same position (small light that got brighter and brighter until it was as bright as before..and there were no clouds to distort the view), stationary about 1 minute then IT STARTED MOVING northward (to the left) about the speed of a second hand on a watch. It moved, by perception, about 4 inches across sky then light just quickly phased out.

As soon as it disappeared again My husband saw a pulsating LED light which flashed 3 times, then paused, and flashed 3 times again (about 3 flashes in 2 seconds) coming thru the trees from southeast toward the west. He mentioned there was a plane coming although there was no noise (we were still looking for the light in the sky). He thought it was a plane until it stopped on our side of the treeline. Brilliantly white bright light. Then I saw it. It followed right under the top tree line (about 50 ft up). When it got in front our trees but still in the branches, behind our house, then the lights started going south to north following our tree line (sometimes a little lower in the tree line and then sometimes a little higher but was never lower than about 50 feet) until it got to the top of our most northward tallest tree & then disappeared. Just 3 flashing-then-pause-then flashing little but amazingly bright LED-like white lights. I thought maybe a drone but there was absolutely no noise. Plus, as my husband pointed out, it was too close into the trees.

Please give some rational explanation.

Pair of Silent V shaped objects with red-orange lights flying low and slow over Raleigh, NC

On the evening of 4/15/2016, we were out to dinner with two other adults in Raleigh, NC. Upon arriving back in front of our home and saying our good nites to the other couple, some lights in the sky caught our attention. There were two noiseless objects with red orange lights flying low in the sky in tandem. There was absolute silence, so they were definitely not helicopters. The objects were V-shaped with what appeared to be headlights on the front. Their speed was slower than a helicopter or any plane that has flown over this residential neighborhood. They never waivered from their path. We all watched them until they they were no longer visible. We all agreed this was nothing we had ever seen before(and yes we were all sober). The other couple left us and later in the week when we spoke again, they reported they saw 2 more of the same objects traveling in the night sky as they neared their residence.

I am a 48 year old woman who works full time for a Non-Profit Energy Efficiency Company.

I was talking with a co-worker about what I saw while driving to my son's house on 2/2/16. She recommended that I report it here, so here it goes!

I was driving on Buck Jones Road going to my son's house (toward Cary, NC). It was a nice sunny afternoon when a shiny, sphere-like object caught my eye in the sky to my left. It appeared to be floating very slowly downward and I watched it for approx. 5-10 whole seconds.

I passed a couple of large trees on my left that blocked my view for a mere second and once I passed them, the object was nowhere to be found.

They seemed to loosely follow each other but were also in very close proximity to each other.

I am guessing they were at approx 2500' msl...very bizarre.

Two concentric rings of light moved slowly across the night sky, stopped for 10 minutes, then moved back in the opposite direction.

On a clear night at 9:30pm, I sat in a lounge chair with my girlfriend on my back deck to do some stargazing, maybe catch a meteor or two, and then view the International Space Station that would later pass at 9:57pm.

At 9:38pm I noticed something unfamiliar in the sky with my naked eye in the area of the Andromeda galaxy. At first I thought I was looking at a star. However, after looking at it for a few seconds, I noticed it was moving very slowly from East to West, it was larger (not brighter though) than a star and it was egg-shaped.

At this point I figured it was some unique satellite so I ran to get my binoculars for a closer look. Within 30 seconds I returned with my Bushnell 10x50 wide angle binoculars. After focusing in on the object I was completely astonished. It was two concentric rings of light with two bright spots on the leading edge of the outer ring.

As my girlfriend and I passed the binoculars back and forth, it continued to slow down ! further until it came to a complete stop (relative to the stars in the binocular's field of view) at 9:43pm. We continued to take turns with the binoculars in complete amazement.

I then decided to go to my neighbor's house to show them this amazing object in the sky. The parents were out for the evening, but their three kids, their babysitter and I went out onto their back deck. Everyone had a couple good looks at it. It was still frozen in place in the sky, however the bright spots on the outer ring of light were on the other side, there were more of them and a little less bright.

I then returned to my house to retrieve and set up my telescope. I knew it would take about 5 minutes to assemble so I went back to my deck to view the object again. Now, at 9:53pm, it had started traveling back very slowly in the opposite direction, now going from West to East. We watched it travel slowly for three minutes, until 9:56pm. Then we both looked down to talk to each other, ! looked back up and it was nowhere to be seen. A minute later, at 9:57 pm, we spotted the International Space Station, traveling West to East, across the northern sky. We continued to search the sky for the object off-and-on for another hour, until 11pm, but never saw it again.

In total we viewed this object for over 15 minutes. I would estimate it was at an altitude comparable to that of satellites orbiting the earth.

I have been an avid stargazer for over 30 years that can easily distinguish the planets (by name) from stars with the naked eye, easily spot satellites and have viewed the International Space Station many times, but this was a truly unique object and experience.

I was walking my sisters dog around the subdivision when I noticed a bright blue circular light from the corner of my eye. Characteristics: Lights on object

looked like moving stars in perfect "V" shaped formation and moving North across the sky at high speed until it dissappeared.

We were on our patio talking and one of us looked up and said "look, what is that"? I looked up to see a boomerang shaped object in perfect formation with many white lights. To me it looked like a perfect bird formation flying high and glowing. It seemed too high to be birds and they were glowing light fluorescent.

It also looked like stars in a perfect V-formation, moving across sky towards the North.

One of us walked and kept up with it and it got smaller and smaller and then disappeared. It made no sound whatsoever. It seemed to be moving faster than an airplane.

I am 54 years old and have never seen anything like this before. This is my first UFO sighting.

Multiple crafts delineated by bright, burnt orange colored lights over I-40 by Raleigh.

While driving on I-40 from Raleigh to Chapel Hill, my family and I (both parents and my brother) and witnessed multiple objects flying relatively low, utterly soundless. Opaque darkness obscured stars above the area between lights; one object was a triangular shape and one was a slightly arced line.

The lights were a burnt orange color, quite bright and steady, and lasted for 3-5 minutes.

We first saw the lights from a distance and drove directly under them and they disappeared from view a couple of minutes after we passed.

There was a small yellow crescent shaped UFO to the right of the moon and lower than the moon.

I was in a parking lot leaving a coffee shop when I looked up and saw a yellow glowing crescent to the right of the moon, but it was lower in the sky than the moon was.

It kindve looked like a half solar eclipse except much much smaller, it was a bit smaller than the moon too.

After about 2 minutes, it started to "go out" and then looked like a normal star and then just disappeared. It did not move around it the sky, it just stayed in place.

White streaking light moving quickly in the sky with no arc

I was out walking my dog around 23:00, perhaps a few minutes before. I rounded a street corner in my neighborhood and a light up in the sky caught my eye. I stepped out into the street for a better view and observed a lighted object streaking across the sky from right to left. I was facing Southeast. It was not cloudy out, but there was a haze in the sky where the object appeared. There was no rain falling, and stars could be seen. The object moved fast, and had a straight trajectory with no arc as it maintained a parallel path with the ground. There was only one object. Due to it being lit, I could not make out the exact shape; however, the lights were confined to a rectangle-like formation. The light was white. I could not discern the distance above ground, however it was lower than a typical airplane or jet and there was no sound. The speed was extremely fast. I would compare it to the speed of a jet seen at low altitude, only perhaps faster. It was visible for approximately five seconds and then disappeared. I looked around me for other witnesses, but there were none.

Bright light flash and satellite like movements in night sky over Northwest Raleigh, North Carolina on the evening of February 19, 2014.

The night of February 19, 2014 was the first warm clear day/evening in almost a week. At 7:15pm, I was walking outside to my car while looking up appreciating the clear night sky. While I was scanning the sky an extremely bright flash of light caught my attention. The flash itself was very reminiscent of a signal flash you would get with mirrors.

There was a single flash of light then the light/object continued across the sky in a north east to west trajectory. If I hadn't witnessed the flash of light I would have mistaken it for a satellite. It was heading on a straight path with a constant speed and brightness for about 15-20 seconds then it completely vanished. I searched the sky couldn't see movement or lights anywhere along the trajectory path that it would have been on.

Two silent, pulsating red orbs slowly moving due north near downtown Raleigh at low altitude.

I witnessed two reddish/orange (color was pulsating) spheres traveling across the horizon at a slow rate of speed in a direction vector approximately due North. From my location, the estimated distance of the orbs were approximately less than 1 mile at an altitude of approximately 1000 ft. They moved in tandem, one trailing the other, but still within close proximity of the lead sphere. They emiited no sound. At first glance, I thought they could be aircraft approaching RDU Airport, but realized no noise after a few moments had passed, and the light emission was much greater than normal markers and strobes on a typical aircraft.

The weather was clear and cold. Stars were clearly visible in the background. I see a lot of air traffic overhead and am confident in my ability to identify various military and civilian aircraft. These flying objects did not display any visual or audible characteristics of any military or conventional aircraft. Conclusion.....UFO's! Without a doubt!

Diamond-shaped object glowing in morning sky

At 7:27 AM Saturday, I was running late to meet my family for breakfast in downtown Raleigh. As I hurriedly turned south onto Blount Street from Peace Street, I spotted a very bright object in the eastern sky, roughly above Oakwood Cemetery. It seemed to be stationary and diamond-shaped. It was about the size of my pinky thumbnail held at arms length. The top half was extremely shiny, almost mirror-like, while the bottom half glowed brilliant amber. The sun was rising behind it at the time and I couldn't tell if the sunrise was reflecting off of it or the glow came from the object itself. If it was reflecting sunlight at that time of day, the object must have been very large and very high in the sky. My sense was that it was reflecting sunlight.

I turned my attention to the road and back and lost sight of it in that brief time. Had I not already been late that morning I would've gone looking for it.

This is the second unexplained object I've seen over Raleigh in four months. A report of a similar object seen over Raleigh two days prior prompted me to file this one.

4 Clear Disk-shaped UFOs over Raleigh, N.C..

I saw 4 disks in the clear sky. I took a very clear photo of what I witnessed. I was on the 10th floor of a tall office building when I walked out on the balcony to look at some unusual clouds.

I was on an interview and was immediately called back in, but not before I could take a picture. I didn't look at the picture until later that day when I remembered how strange it was.

I looked at it closely and DID NOT alter it at all. I showed a few friends and family members and the feedback was all the same.

Nobody could explain it at all! I'm completely baffled and really would like some answers to this strange sighting.

The objects looked like disks with a hole in the center. One was extremely large. (Maybe the size of a Walmart store).

The other three around it were much smaller but in a triangular formation and slightly above the larger one. (I emailed the photo to [email protected])

Tonight me and my wife saw a Orangish Red Circle that emerge from over our house! We watched it for about 45 seconds and it appeared to be headed towards Southeast. Very quiet and moving at a slower pace then a airplane. It was so bright that you really could not see what type of shape because the whole object was bright Orange and it appeared to have a destination because it stay course. This is the second siting me and my wife seen. The first siting we could actually see the spaceship less than 300 ft up with no sound whatsoever; if it was not for us looking up we never would have seen it.

Was walking my dog when I say a floating yellow/orange light about 2 miles away. It was bright enough that I knew it wasn't a plane or a star. It floated there for about a minute before slowly moving across the sky towards RDU. It didn't get smaller or bigger. And kept steady speed while moving. I knew it wasn't a plane before A. Planes don't float in mid-air, B. planes and helicopters don't have lights that stay on at all times. And it moved too slow and steady for a plane coming in to land.

Two lights. One bright white light & a dim blue one (appearing & disappearing). Ground level & moving closer.

Last night. First time back in a week from Jamaica. Me & my sis hot boxed outside around 1am, when all of a sudden I noticed I bright light. & then I noticed a second blue light. It was not as bright. It was jus a blue light. I didn’t say anythin to my sister for a while I jus watched the blue light until it disappeared & appeared again. I still didn’t say anything until the first light got brighter then it would lesson it’s brightness. It wasn’t someone walking with a flashlight but they were gettin closer. So I asked my sister “is that a plane?” She says no it’s too bright nd it’s not moving. All of a sudden the blue light comes back & I asked her did she see it. She saw it. & it disappeared again. & that’s when I was confused as to what I was seeing. We’re these people ? I haven’t hot boxed that spot in a week. So many questions unanswered. The brightest light was gettin closer & we refused to leave becuz our eyes were amazed. We saw the same thing. We de! cided to run as fast as we could to the house because it wasn't in the air it was more ground level at this point. I wanted to get my Canon t3i with my 55-250mm lens to record & get a better look but my sister didn't want me to go back out there.

Four of our dogs started growling and barking towards the front of our home. I was in bed with my husband and saw a floating light through the slats in our bedroom window. I could tell they were too high off of the ground to be a car, so I got out of bed to check it out.

Looking out the window, I saw the tail end of the craft. It was triangle shaped with 3 red lights on the rear and emitted no sounds at all. I could hear the cars driving down the main road by our home, but could not hear any engine like sounds coming from the flying craft.

It seriously scared me, it couldn't have been a plane or helicopter as there was no sound at all from the craft.

My husband thinks it may have been a government drone. I don't know what it could have been.

Lights seen above downtown Raleigh

On Saturday, September 28th at 9:45 PM, I was attending an outdoor concert at the downtown Raleigh amphitheatre when my wife pointed to the sky to the right of the stage. A series of amber lights were floating slowly across the sky, north to south at about 10 degrees above the horizon. There were probably 6-8 of them and they appeared for a minute or two. I did not see where they went because they went behind the stage where my view was blocked.

I assumed that they might be flares the fire department might have been using to test wind direction for the fireworks show that was scheduled later that night but the fire department told me it doesn't use flares in this manner. A check with the 911 center showed no calls reporting lights or flares in the downtown area during that time.

The lights appeared about 10 degrees above the buildings in the background, somewhere over the intersection of Dawson St. and Cabarrus St, and moved slowly from right to left.

Unknown object seen in Raleigh, NC 8/2/2013.

At 2100 EDT my friend and I were taking pictures of the lighted pyramid on top of one of the buildings. We weer shooting pretty much due east.

My camera was a Leica M9 with a 50mm f 1.4 shooting at ISO 160, f1.4 and speed around .,5 - .7 seconds. t was hand held.

We observed a very large sphere behind the building, note the building edges cutoff the sphere.

I took 4 pictures each had the object. When I downloaded I found two more pictures that had it and they showed a movement from left to right or north to south.

The pictures have been sent to and examined locally and no has any idea what it is.

The camera had just been returned from Leica who had cleaned and aligned it.

There was no filter.

There was a concert being held due south of us several blocks away at the Redhat amphitheater.

Three orange lights moving slowly and quietly.

While traveling down I-540 away from the airport towards Raleigh I commented to the driver how you can watch incoming flights way off in the distance and pointed out three.

But by the time we got to the US70/Glenwood Ave. exit the lights were not far apart enough to be airliners coming in for separate landings (also from experience one of the planes should have gone overhead by the time we reached the exit.

So we assumed they were helicopters from the NC Air Guard site next to the RDU airport. At the Creedmoor Rd. exit the lights were directly above us; still heading towards the airport.

We rolled down the windows to hear the helicopter blades and engines; but there was no sound as the lights passed overhead. We traveled south on Creedmoor and at the Strickland Rd interchange the lights reappeared over the car; meaning the lights did not proceed towards the airport but headed back in the direction they originally came in.

The traffic signal changed to ! green so we proceeded down Strickland but never saw the lights again.

Three triangular craft visible for 5 min near I 540 on 2/27/2013

I saw three triangular craft over I-540 over a large patch of trees. I was at stop sign juncture of Macon Road and Ray Road. I thought at first it had to be three military planes flying in perfect formation and i was amazed at the slow speed and exact eqiudistance and how the planes maintained that exact distance but were also able to stay in air at such slow speed. I realized they were only at most 2 to 3 miles from rdu airport and i decided to try to take a closer look. There were 3 lights on each craft. Once i pulled over and looked back either the trees obscured my view or they took off. I never saw side view or any view other than complete triangle appearance which was weird.

Two large red/oraange lights travel across Raleigh sky

My husband saw two lights heading on a straight course above our neighborhood. He called me outside and I saw two large red lights, one following the other, for about 3 minutes until one vanished. The other lingered a minute longer until it too faded out. We saw the second light flicker very lightly just a few times until they were no longer visible.

They did not completely cross the sky. We could have watched them go even further but they disappeared before then. We heard neighbors outside and one said, ‘What the hell is that?’ so we knew we were not the only ones who saw this.

The lights did not blink and were extremely red/orange in color and quite large. The lights were constant the entire time. I have never seen anything like this and am continually checking the local news to see if others caught it. The sky is extremely clear with only a few sparse clouds.

Being a skeptic I couldn’t help but think it was a plane of some sort until we saw commercial planes fly by and it was extremely obvious these were not commercial planes.

A black cylindrical object seen fairly close to an airplane during daytime

My girlfriend and I were on our way to get burgers for lunch over the weekend in the northern Raleigh area. My girlfriend says we were travelling East on Millbrook Road towards Millbrook Collection, which is a shopping center, located at the corner of Millbrook Rd./Atlantic Ave.

My girlfriend was driving and since I'm still quite new to the area, I was looking around and noticed, what I believed to be chem-trails, which were all intersecting in one spot in the sky, similar to the shape of an asterisk.

Just west of this formation, in the sky, was an airplane which left an extremely long plume of white vapor. In the same area as this plane, was a solid black object, sort of, cylindrical-shaped, with some kind of blurry feature on it. Both the plane and the black object appeared very high. I'm guessing that that plane was at crusing altitude, so what's that, 30,000+ feet? Well, it appeared that the black object was at least that high. At arms length, the object was about the size of a pencil's eraser. If this object was indeed around the same height as the plane, it must have been 1/4 size in comparison to it. The distance from the object to the plane appeared to be 300-400 yards. The object made no noise.

At first, I thought it was a bird, but it didn't move. I observed this for at least a mile, still in the same spot. At some point, the trees got in my view and i was unable to see it. Once past the trees, I looked and the plane was still there but the black object was gone. I didn't see it again.

I've made several reports on this site over the years. This is the first UFO I've seen and reported in the Raleigh, NC area. The others were all seen by me and other witnesses in and around the Charlotte, NC area.

I have a new camera and wanted to see if I could capture a picture of the moon. So I went outside and looked for a clear angle. As I was positioning the camera a red dot flashed on the LCD screen. Not knowing what it was, I checked the camera to be sure I had it set correctly. I then noticed that the red dot was in the sky, much smaller than the moon. It flashed again, and I took a picture. I then moved over slightly to take a second picture. I then noticed another object (blue/green) below the red. After taking the two photos I returned indoors. When I loaded the photos in my computer I noticed the other was green, smaller and positioned below the red dot. So I enlarged them. I do not know what to think about all of this other than it is strange. They looked like dots until I enlarged them. The enlargements look like vapors or fog. See photos attached.

Dark cylinder hanging motionless in the sky near a jet.

This sighting took place somewhere in North or Northeast Raleigh, North Carolina. I lived there with my girlfriend at the time for a short while and since I rarely ventured out of the house, I was unfamiliar with the area, so I'll try to give my best recollection involving where we might have been when I saw this UFO.

We're traveling in my girlfriend's car on what I believe was Spring of 2012. She was driving. I'm in the passenger seat and there was no one else besides us in the car. As we're moving I was looking at all the scenery and it was a beautiful day. In my peripheral vision, I noticed a large passenger jet somewhat high in the sky. The jet wasn't low. I'd wager it was flying at roughly 10-20,000 feet.

That's when I saw it. Just in front of the jet's path looked to what I can only describe as an Oil Drum or a dark, almost black-looking cylinder, upright like an oil drum. Now it was hard to tell but it looked like it was up there really close to this jet which was heading towards it.

The windows in the car were up so I heard no noise. It just seemed to hang there, motionless in the sky. I was excited so I told my girlfriend and she wanted to see it and asked where it was. I said, "It's up there, by that plane!" Unfortunately, she couldn't look as she was driving. I probably looked at this thing for about a minute, no more. As we drove some trees blocked my view. We pulled up to a traffic light and that's when I looked up again only this time all I could see was the jet and no cylinder.

To give an idea of the sizes of this jet and cylinder, at arm's length, the jet would have been about the size of my thumb and the cylinder was about 1/3 that size. I wish I could give more information but the sighting was brief.

Just one last thing. As I said, I was unfamiliar with the area, but I know we used to live a mile west of Route 1, a.k.a. (Capital Blvd). We lived off of Durant road between Capital Blvd. and Falls of Neuse Rd. The sighting was not too far from this area. I wish I could tell you the name of the road we were on, but all I can tell you is we were no more than 5 miles from our house on our way to get a burger from this great little burger and hotdog place where you walk up to the window and they take your order. When it's ready they call your number, go up to the window, get your food, and then we would just sit in our car and eat. That's the best description I can give as, yet again, I can't remember the name of the place!

A bright white light that was extremely fast with no sound, ejected 2 smaller objects in opposite directions.

At approx 8:45 on the night of 4/9/2012 I was letting my dogs outside for their last bathroom trip for the night when I looked up in the sky and saw a bright light in the south eastern part of the sky. The light was extremely bright and moved at a high rate of speed. What got my attention was that there was no sound and there were absolutely no flashing lights of any kind. I called for my fiance to come and see, she also noted that there were no flashing lights and that it just did not move like a plane because of the high rate of steady speed. As it moved from the south east it increased its brightness by 50% then made a very sharp turn towards due east at about a 60' to 70' degree angle then as its brightness decreased we could see 2 smaller objects, 1 ejected from each side of the object, 1 going north and 1 going south at the exact same speed. The objects that came out of the side of the light/object moved so fast they were gone as soon as they came ou! t. The object then gave off one last bright burst then I lost sight of it over my neighbors roof. Never seeing anything of this nature before, I posted a question to Facebook to see if anyone else in my area saw anything strange in the night sky. I got a reply to this site from a friend saying that this site(NATIONAL UFO REPORTING CENTER)might be able to answer some questions for me, so I thought I would share my experience for those who are interested in strange aerial phenomenon. Im not saying that what I saw is of extra terrestrial origin but it was something I've never seen before in my lifetime.

Observed a non conforming craft south of Raleigh moving west to east and then circling north toward Raleigh center.

While traveling in a car, approximately 1 mile north of the 401/55 intersection, traveling north on Rt 401, two white lights where spotted in the dark evening sky, to the east of a tower with red blinking lights in the vicinity of Ten-Ten road, but the craft was an unknown distance north of the tower. Lights were originally believed to be that of a military transport on approach to Fort Bragg/Pope Army Airfield, until it was noticed that the craft did not have any blinking navigational aircraft lights. Observer lost visual contact when traveling in the low spot south of 401/Ten-Ten Road intersection.

While waiting for the traffic signal to change at the 401/Ten-Ten Road intersection, the two craft lights were noticed moving east toward the Clayton radio/TV towers, one behind the other, parallel to the ground. The two white lights appeared to be moving as part of one object and maintained a uniform distance during travel. Rate of movement was faster than a helicopter. Object was traveling approximately 20-25 degrees above the horizon.

Observer spotted craft a third time after passing Wake Tech campus on 401. Craft appeared to be making a sweeping flat turn, full circle, back toward south Raleigh, approaching from the south. Observer lost visual at approximately the intersection of 401/Ransdell Road.

Observer spotted the craft a fourth time while traveling in the vicinity of Phillips Farm. Craft appeared to be banking (left light was higher than the right light), lined up for flight over Garner/Raleigh moving at an accelerating speed to points north. Observer lost visual due to trees at the top of the hill north of the Phillips Farm.

By the time the observer made it to the intersection of 401/Old Stage Road the craft was no longer visible. Observer was unable to determine if he was looking at one craft with two lights, or two crafts with one light each. Brightness of the craft lights did not appear to change during the course of the observations and always appeared to point out from the craft, even when accelerating away to the north. Lights were not observed pointing toward the ground. No noise was heard. Observation period from first sighting to last sighting was approximately 20 minutes.

UFO sighting in Raleigh/Knightdale on Thanksgiving

My boyfriend and I actually had 2 sightings on this evening. As we were driving towards Knightdale, in Raleigh, on Highway 64 business, we saw something shoot from the sky straight down and disappear. It had a glow to it as it shot down, and came down within a blink of an eye. Then, a little while later as we were standing in line on black Friday outside behind the best buy building, my boyfriend said, "Look." As I look up, and so did the other people in line behind and ahead of us, I saw two circular saucers flying in a staggered formation, one was slightly ahead of the other, across the skyline. It was almost like they were floating as they were moving, their movement was very fluid. Once we realized what they were, they were gone. They disappeared extremely fast. They looked like they were very dark gray or black with dull, glowing lights around the bottom. The other people in line also saw this, and were amazed. I know what I saw was not anything of this world.

Pyramid shaped craft with random blinking lights on the points of it, rotating in all directions.

I was driving to the convenience store, and noticed strange lights moving together in the sky.

At first I assumed it was a plane, but I could make out very faint lines in between the lights, forming a pyramid shape. It hovered on a Z-axis for a few moments very slowly and stayed motionless quite often.

We were just walking home from the bar and we saw about a dozen cross shaped objects flying just above the treetops.

They were flying with the long part of the cross in front, and were perhaps 200 feet in the air and fifty feet long.

The entire outline of the cross glowed and pulsed green and blue.

Strange, possibly extra-terrestrial energy display in the sky in Raleigh NC.

I apologize as this is not exactly a sighting of a UFO but rather a strange and unexplainable occurrence in our atmosphere. I have tried telling this story a few places and around the internet but have gotten no feedback, corroboration, or other information from any of these sources and I was actually hoping you could possibly tell me that I and my partner who also witnessed this are not alone in seeing this type of occurrence.

It was the summer of 2011 (I'm sorry I cannot tell you the exact date) and the sky had 100% cloud cover. The clouds were very low and dark but not too dark. It looked like a storm of some sort was brewing so me and my partner went out into the street to see what sort of natural spectacle that storms normally produce.

Then without any thunder or noise of any sort a "grid" made up of perfect hexagons of what could only appear to be electricity appeared over head. I would say it formed about 3 rows at a time of chains of perfectly shaped hexagons that moved or scanned back and forth across the sky in an east-to-west direction.

There was no thunder, no rain; only these "electrical" shapes.

I was mesmerized but I would say the formation lasted approx. 1 minute and scanned back and forth changing direction several times.

I have never heard of any sort of event and I cannot seem to find anyone who can shed any more light on this.

Again I apologize as this is not exactly a UFO sighting but I have exhausted all other sources and am desperate for some type of clue.

Three bright red circles of light form above for one minute and vanish.

We were sitting on neighbor's front porch and spotted orange ball of light move slowly across sky and hover above us. The light stayed in sky about a minute and faded away.

Five minutes later another ball appeared and stayed about a minute and disappeared.

We all had our cell phones and tried to take pics but the light would not show up on any of our camera's.

Ten minutes later another ball appeared for 1 minute and disappeared.

It was no plane or helicopter. It was silent with some erratic movement.

Rising light in the sky

I am a student at UNC.

I sit out on the front porch to smoke cigarettes. Every night for the past couple nights, I see a light in the same position in the sky. It is very high in the sky seeing as how I can only make it out as a light. It slowly rises directly up to a point and will stop. The light will persist in the same location for varying lengths of time. I cannot ascertain how long precisely. When I return to smoke another cigarette it can still be there or it can be gone. There are no discernable stars in the vicinity and the light is completely gone. It doesnt flash and has a slight orange or red tint to it. Planes will occasionally fly close to it but it seems they are just flying through. Perhaps the light is higher in the sky than these planes although I cannot tell.

This part is stupid and probably just my overactive imagination but I had been watching the NCAA Tournament all night and when the commerical for the movie Paul came on, the TV blacked out several times during the commericial but at no other time at any point in the night.

Saw strange light weaving and circling nearby lake

I am a student at the University of North Carolina. The two of my friends that also saw the lights are a two high school students at nearby schools.

A couple of my friends and I were hanging out down at the park in our neighborhood. I looked over the small lake in our subdivsion and saw a light that was flashing between red and blue weaving in the sky while circling the lake. I could only make out lights. I watched the light for 5 minutes or so before alerting my friends to it, not wanting it to be a plane or a helicopter and appear stupid. As far as I could tell I couldn't hear the sound of an engine or whirring of blades such as a helicopter. After I told my friends, they confirmed my beliefs that it was a UFO. It continued circling the lake for 15 minutes or so before heading off towards the north.

V-Shaped Craft Hovering Above the Intersection of Six Forks Road and I-540 in Raleigh NC

As my wife and I pulled out of our driveway last night around a quarter till 7PM, I noticed a very bright light a little ways off. At first I thought it might be a passenger jet's landing lights (as seen from head-on) since we live only a few miles from RDU, but after watching it for about 30 seconds, we realized it could not be a plane because it wasn't moving. A car was coming up behind me on the street, so we continued on our way to our destination.

It takes about 5 minutes to get out of our neighborhood and onto I-540 (the outer loop around Raleigh). As we were pulling onto 540, we again saw the light(s) ahead of us. As we got closer, we could start making out the details better. There were red lights on either side of the 'craft', and white lights in the middle. 540 is a very busy road on Saturday evenings, and as we were getting really close to this object, all of the cars in front of us were slowing down to look at it as well. It was hovering just above the trees at the intersection of Six Forks Road and 540. It looked like a "V" with large white lights in the center and down both "wings" with the red lights on the tips of the wings. It looked to be about the size of a passenger jet, but again it was not moving. I wanted to get out and take photos with my phone, but we were running late for our event and my wife didn't want me to stop.

Anyway, I'm just hoping that maybe someone else took the time to report this as well as I know many, many people saw this. Maybe someone can check with air traffic at RDU as it must have been on their radar.

It was not a plane, nor was it a helicopter (much too big). It's worth noting that it was not there when we returned home 4 hours later.

There was a green laser like light that came up above over the horizon that was in a fan shape and similar to that of a scanner at a grocery store. The fact that it was cloudy and has been a rainy day, made it that much more clearer to see it. 2 objects that looked like bright stars moving in parallel about 45 degrees above the horizon

There were 2 objects moving in parallel that each looked like a bright star. The moon was bright and there was some high altitude haze in the atmosphere, so most stars were barely visible at the time. At first glance this looked like 2 stars, but then I noticed they were moving slowly. They appeared to be at very high altitude, maybe 40K feet. The moved due East in parallel to each other for about 10 seconds. Then they faded away gradually over a ~5 second period. I estimate the lights were about 45 degrees above the horizon.

There are no major airports due East of Raleigh, but there are military bases East of here. These lights did not have the typical strobes flashing that is common on commercial aircraft. Most high altitude air traffic over Raleigh is running North-South up the East coast of the country. Given the lack of strobes on what I observed, I'm confident these were not commercial aircraft.

The only plausible explanation would be military aircraft. Military aircraft can run without lights. But do they have bright lights to illuminate them like a star? These objects were bright and no strobes were present. The looked like bright stars or a planet would look, such as Venus. Given that they appeared to be at high altitude, they would not have been flying in close military formation. I would estimate the distance between these 2 objects would have been over a mile if they were at 40K feet. Given that they were well above the horizon and the lights faded relatively quickly (~5 seconds), it's not consistent with an aircraft slowing flying out of sight over the horizon. I have no explanation.

Also, high altitude commercial air traffic was leaving vapor trails in the atmosphere on this night, visible by the moonlight. These objects left no vapor trail.

Cylindrical Object Over Raleigh NC

On September 25th, 2010 I was driving on I-40 through Raleigh, NC. At approximately 11:15 am near exit 300, I noticed a cylindrical object ascending in the sky at 45 degree angle from the north toward the south. I thought at first that it was an airliner but there were no wings and no tail. It appeared to be dark gray at first then shimmered as if reflecting the sunlight. Then the object de-materialized from the inside out starting on the left side moving to the right until the cylinder had completely disappeared. Though there were clouds in the sky, they were small with plenty of blue sky between them. The object did not fly behind a cloud, it vanished while I watched. The entire episode lasted about 3 seconds. The object was about the size of a quarter held at arm's length.

I’m a father in my mid-30s working in healthcare. I’m interested in UFOs, but I don’t necessarily think every sighting is anomalous or of an alien spacecraft. I’ve reflected on my sighting for several days and cannot come up with a reasonable explanation.

we saw 2 objects in the sky one night flashing colors and not moving

I went outside to my car because I forgot something in it and my son and I were getting ready for the labor day party on Monday and I looked up because I thought I saw something flashing far in front me it was very high in the sky at 12am and it was doing the same thing as it did the first night I reported before, it was in a different spot this time the first one was seen in the back of my house to the right of my window the second time was in the front of my house closer to the street,and I was afraid and I called my son outside and he looked at it and he was surprised and scared so he went to knock on the door of our lifestyle directors house in our subdivision to ask him to come out and see what we were seeing because this was the second time in a few days we were experiencing something we could not understand or believe we were seeing and we stood there for the longest time and he was like "OK that is not moving and its flashing lights that satellites d! o not flash" so he went to get his friend that was staying with him for the holiday weekend and he came out with us and he looked at it as well and we couldn't explain it then another one showed up lower than the first one but more to the lower left and we didn't notice it right away all of a sudden we just happened to look up and there it was and it sat there doing the same thing but this one wasn't so close as the one on the top was. so we could only just stand there and stare like what in gods earth is happening and if that is what it looks like. why are they here and what are they doing..we were very afraid all four of us were terrified we didn't know what to do. then we saw this quick yellow line like a streak that wasn't that long and it was in a curve go upward but there was no sound and one was gone but the first one was still there and it was 2am and we were talking trying to find out or figure out who we can ask questions to without sounding crazy or ask why we ar! e seeing what we are seeing and who can give us answers to it ! all. I c ant sleep at night now I'm very afraid. god is our witness to what we saw I have no reason to tell you something that wasn't true at all and there is no exaggeration in any of what was told. what do we do if we see anything like this again? please help us understand this. in March of 2007 me and a friend were outside talking in ny one night and all the street light and house lights and even his car shut off then turned back on in 1 minute...why?... we still talk about that night.

I was looking out of my bedroom window that night because i couldnt sleep and saw something in the sky at 10:25pm, with flashing red, blue, and yellow lights and it wasnt moving at all. and I saw the whole pattern of the flashing lights it would spin fast with all those colors on the bottom, I got up and went outside and stood outside the fence in the street looking at it to make sure of what I was looking at and it kept doing that light spinning then it would spin blue or red upward then all red blue and yellow on the bottom again.then at 11:05pm it was gone. i tried to take a picture or video it but it was too dark and far to get the shot on my digital camera but god knows I saw everything it was doing and it didnt make any noise at all.
