Saw static orb take off at high speed

I was in a friend's car getting a ride back from work to home. We were about to get to my address when I saw a static light, or orb sitting in the sky. It was very large and I thought: how strange. That light is large and bright. Moreso than any other lights I usually see in the sky. Then suddenly it took off. I thought to myself: there's no doubt, that was something not from this world, or at least something that we the people haven't been shown by our government. There's no way an orb can sit there and then take off and be gone in less than 2 seconds like that. I was in the back car seat when I saw this and had a very good view of it.
