We saw about 30 moving lights in varying speed at different moments headed in different directions over the course of 1.5 hours.

Around 9 pm we looked up and saw a moving light, it was not pulsing or flashing and was moving relatively fast. Over the next hour and a half we saw about 30 more lights with about 2 or 3 of those lights being blue. They did not alll appear at once and they were headed in different directions coming from the north, south, and west but none from the east. None of the lights made any sound as they traveled. One of the lights got bright twice and then its light turned off. There were no visible craft bodies to any of the lights although at one point we saw two lights traveling close together that almost appeared to make an outline of a craft. It could be unrelated, but about 30 minutes in we saw 2 military helicopters on a flight tracking radar app flying over the city. The sightings continued and later around 10 pm we saw 3 lights that zipped across the sky VERY quickly that were only visible for a second. All of the lights faded out of sight. Some of the lights made deviations in their flight pattern with 2 crossing by eachother in an x pattern. At one point our wifi went out on our cell phones.

I’ve seen it before but never recorded it. Pulsing orb with “solar flares” coming from it. Hovers for 15-20 mins then disappears.

The summary is pretty much it. I sometimes can’t sleep so I will look out my window and will sometimes see this object, sometimes I see plans coming and going from the airport nearby. This object struck me as different because it doesn’t move like a plane, it just hovers. It always pulses white, blue, and pink light with what looks like solar flares coming from the main body in those same colors. Sometimes it will disappear and reappear within the same second in a different area of the sky and will hover there for a while before disappearing altogether. I can’t tell if it is hovering high above Eastern Lawrence or if it is closer to Kansas City. It doesn’t behave like anything I know. My husband is a retired Army pilot and he says it freaks him out.

Saw Formation of 6 UAPs in southwest Mi

I was driving westbound on 94 towards Chicago. Suddenly 6 bright lights appeared above the horizon, not moving and in a vertical formation. The lights stayed still for at least 30 seconds and my eyes were glued to them. Eventually after about 40 seconds the top light flickered, then disappeared, then the bottom light did the same thing. The remaining four lights all followed suit from bottom to top in about 10 second intervals.

These lights were not moving at all and appeared very far away in the sky. Even though they were in formation, they were not close together and had significant spacing in between them - which is why i dont think this was Star link.

For several days I and sometimes my children have seen a light that hovers in Douglas County off Farmers Turnpike (N 1800 Rd)

I throughout my life have seen UFO's and they do not scare me as I find them fascinating. Lately since March 2022 I have seen objects above Douglas county while driving on Farmers Turnpike. Not every day but enough that my children have been in the car with me and have seen them as well. The object has it's own white light source and doesn't move from it's seemingly stationary place. The object has had a halo around it and sometimes it fades out to nothing and other times it moves off quickly. I have seen it no less than 8 times since March and it always seems to be in the same area. I have seen it anywhere from 5 pm to 9 pm. I normally wont report anything but I was talking to a co-worker who said they saw something similar to what I saw when they were in Lawrence. I have heard this from several other people in the area so maybe it may be something that should be on your radar. I have a picture on my phone from one of the times but I can't zoom in very well on the object but when I do it looks like it is a double image or two objects. The photo was taken heading W on N 1800 Rd at the cross of E 1000 Rd in Douglas County, Kansas. The object in the photo was the first one that I had seen as my daughter took the picture. The objects that I am seeing are bright and located in Northern Douglas county North of Lawrence. They look round to the naked eye and do not have any colors or trails. They are fast when they move and I have seen on one occasion it seemingly fly up away from the small planes that come from the Lawrence airport.

12:07am Kansas, Southern sky 10-15 white lights close together making a wide V shape. But slightly irregular V shape. (almost like this shape { )They were flying from west to east, looked to be high up, and flying very fast, the sky was clear and the moon was waning 3/4 full. Then they disappeared and shortly, maybe 3 seconds later another grouping of lights followed in another wide V shape but slightly diffrent in shape. They followed the first set but a bit further south, then also quickly disappeared into the sky flying east..about 4 minutes later we saw the same V shape but looked to be higher in the sky, flying east to west, the lights were brighter and closer together. My husband also saw all 3 incidents.

saw a floating transparent white orb that for really bright then disappeared in broad daylight

As I was talking to my father on the phone while walking my dogs in a small field near my apartment I looked up and noticed a white transparent orb in the sky. I couldn't tell if it was moving but it definitely looked out of place. I didn't think much of it at first then the more I looked at it the more confused I got. It appeared to be much higher in the sky than an airplane, but the size of it would be much bigger than an airplane. It also didn't make any sound. I continued looking at it to see if it would move (maybe to see if it was a weather balloon or a drone). But it was also very windy that day so if it was any sort of balloon it would be moving around rather quickly. The object I saw appeared to be still or hovering. Then as I continued looking at it the object almost appeared to turn or shift. And as it turned or shifted it got really bright. But not light on an airplane bright or star bright. It was as if it was a very bright reflection off of a shiny metallic surface. This was especially odd to me because of how far away the object appeared in the sky. It was even almost difficult to look at but I kept my eye on it as long as I could (2-3 minutes maybe). Then my dog pulled me in a different direction so I looked down to see what she was doing. It couldn't have been more than 3-5 seconds then once I looked up the object was gone without even a trace of where it was. I looked for about 15 minutes in the sky after it disappeared to see if I was maybe just overlooking it or to see if it would show up again. But I saw nothing else. And this was on a perfectly sunny mid-afternoon day where there were few clouds in the sky. So it would have been easier to track something down if it had moved in the sky. Unfortunately I didn't capture anything on my phone camera because I was on the phone with my father and processing what I had just seen. The final thing I noticed is this time of year birds are flying around everywhere as they prepare to fly south for the winter. But during this sighting there was nothing in the sky or even anywhere near where I was looking. I didn't think this was odd until I thought about the two times I took my dogs out before the sighting and the next time after the sighting when birds were flying everywhere and making noises. There was none of this during the sighting. But that could have also been a coincidence or me just not paying attention to anything but the object I saw in the sky.

All metal disc with blue light. After some seconds it just teleported ahead within a second.

I could be either dehydrated or I saw what I saw. Usual AM PT. Ending with 15 sec sprints for 5 mins. While doing breathing exercises with some stretching I lookup above the trees is a disc shaped drone. Well I thought it was a drone. But it’s way too big to be a drone and it’s circle with no fans or propellers. And no sound. I stared at it for a few seconds then this blue light turned on from the disc then shot away in a blink of eye. No fire or rocket booster visible. I panicked no way that just happened. My Apple Watch has a high bpm but I’m running so that’s normal. I’m confused and it doesn’t make any sense. Distance I would say probably not close enough to throw a rock at it but definitely close enough to fire at it with any Glock or AR. Color I would say silver or the special gray they use to paint Navy warships with. Time of day was early morning as the night is leaving and the sun has arrived and along with nature animals communicate with each other.

Glowing orange orbs traveling across the night sky.

10-12 glowing orange balls were seen passing over the eastern end of Lawrence Ks. These orange balls were traveling from SE to NE, and were traveling roughly in a line. Several times one of the balls could be seen to pass other balls before fading out. This fading out appeared to happen when the balls would travel higher, out of eye-shot.

It was fully dark at this time and I was walking from my neighbor's yard back to mine when I noticed them. I have never seen anything like this before. My background is educated, office worker, and not prone to believing in conspiracy theories. But this was weird!

Mysterious yellow teardrop shaped UFO Lawrence, Kansas

At 10:48pm CT in Lawrence, Kansas sky gazing in the parking lot of Rock Chalk Park a local recreation center near the outskirts of the city I witnessed the following over the course of about 6-8 seconds: A large teardrop shaped flying object appeared in the sky. The object forked at the end and the two ends of the tear drop didn’t quite touch . I could see the space between the two arms of the teardrop shape. The object had a yellow hallow around it as if it were glowing. The flying object was around 4 inches long in the sky and appeared to be as close to the earth as you would see an airplane or a jet. The object was moving from the SW (near Highway 10 entrance) to the NE (toward Queens Rd) and was flying straight and seemed to be moving both fast and slow at the same time. It covered the sky from point A to point B at a distance of about a 85 degree angle in about 7 seconds and then disappeared, it was completely silent.

Very bright, white light flashing, triangular object moving extreme distances instantaneously

A group of us were watching the Perseids Meteor Shower.

The object appeared in the distance, as I pointed it out, it blinked brightly and disappeared. It reappeared a few seconds later in much different part of the sky and continued to flash brightly, disappear and then reappear, and flash. We were unable to make out the shape. This went on for a few minutes.

Then the object appeared directly overhead moving at a very fast speed. We could see the it was of triangular in shape, it left a light tracer behind it as it was moving above us, then flashed a VERY BRIGHT white light and vanished, never to been seen for the rest of the night. At no point was any noise heard. The object's flashing was at least 10x brighter than any meteors seen that night/morning.

Bright white teardrop light ejected a bright blue light, moving fast

I saw a bright white teardrop shaped light moving from west to east at low cloud level; several clouds were in the sky but overall sunny. The light appeared to travel out of one cloud then separated or ejected a brilliant blue light that turned gold and disappeared as the white light continued to the east and vanished into another cloud. It all happened extremely quickly, 3-5 seconds approx. in duration.

Definitely not an airplane or helicopter. Was with a group of students and they saw it, too.

helicopter chasing orange light at low altitude

I was in my room in my apartment watching Dave Chappelle on Netflix, when I heard a helicopter overhead. It sounded very low and powerful, so I figured it had to be military, and I-being a total nerd-had to run out to the parking lot to get a look.

By the time I was out my door and in the parking lot, I had just enough time to watch a small orange ball of light being chased by what I assume to be a Blackhawk helicopter (because of size and sound) disappear behind the rooftops of the buildings east of me. This struck me as bizarre because I saw something similar some months ago in the same general area (skies south of Lawrence, I live on the south side of town, not far from Baker Wetlands).

The light was small and orange in color and was about 50-100 yards ahead of the helicopter. It made no erratic movements but was travelling at a fair clip as the helicopter was tracking it at almost the exact speed and it was moving pretty quickly. As such, I have my doubts that this could've been a paper lantern (though the color and intensity of the light were similar to one) and the distance ahead of the helicopter rules out a refueling boom. I'd give the altitude of the two objects to be between 500-1000 ft agl and the speed! of both to be about 100 kts at the time I saw them.

Also of note, I saw another object in the sky in the general area at the same time, though it may not have been connected. This object seemed to be an aircraft judging by the red and white lights it had on it, but it hovered in place for a moment until the lights slowly faded out with no apparent change in location. The direction I was looking toward would be about a straight line to KCI, so I wasn't immediately suspicious, but--having seen plenty of air traffic heading to and from KCI on that flight path--this didn't look like anything I'd seen before (no landing lights). I mention this because it was odd and because the previous sighting of a few months earlier of the same kind of event had 2 helicopters chasing the light instead of just one. Maybe this was the second.

My experience started last summer, and continues on to this day. Leading up to my current “issue” with these objects, my father had always talked about this light in the sky following him wherever he went. He didn’t know why, or what it's intentions were. He called it his “guiding light”. He thought it was a surveillance drone and if it is, why him? Well 3 years of this guiding light had him pretty nervous. I had only heard the stories, until one night we were heading to my mother's house to visit (parents are separated), and before we got out of the driveway, he asked me, “What do you think that is?” and pointed at a very bright light in the sky. My first thought was: It’s a planet. It was bright like Jupiter or Venus. Until I noticed how low it was and that it seemed to be swaying or hovering. Then I said it's a drone. Dad then tells me to keep my eye on it and see what it does.

Our trip was going to be from Lawrence, KS, to Kansas City, MO. He puts the truck in gear and we go. As did this bright light. It would stay in the passenger window down I-70 then positioning itself directly behind us and it was like it locked on to our vehicle. It would sometimes ascend higher and then come back down. It was tracking us! I was mesmerized. I had never seen a UFO and here is a full on bright, unidentifiable flying object following us down the highway. The object followed us all the way to 152 hwy in Kansas City, MO.

We get into the city and this thing decides to completely blow my mind by joining up with 2 more lights to form a triangle formation. I am saying all kinds of, “what ((deleted)) is that,” at this point. And as we turn down the street to my moms house they all 3 got as faint as dim stars, one after the other, and disappeared. This was the beginning of my fascination that has now become my reality.

Fast forward almost one year later, I researched the hell out of these things. I know now it's not a FBI drone. Not a police surveillance craft. This goes way beyond that. I start living with my dad about 5 months ago. This thing would literally hover outside of his house every night along with 4 or 5 other objects mimicking stars and constellations. I decided to start filming them because if it is government then they are violating our rights on all possible levels.

Also, because they fascinate me. I have videos of triangle craft, hovering commercial jets, cigar UFOs in the day time. Aircraft that I can't explain doing things we have no context for. Well they now follow me everywhere I go. Any clear night I have 1-3 star UFOs hovering over the house. Possibly more. As well as very strange airplane and triangle craft that circle the house really low. Some will eject smaller drones I shit you not. I've been watching and studying these like it is my job. The strange thin! g is I can't get any media outlets or MUFON to investigate this. I know I'm not the only one. We need to call attention to it and get answers. I didn’t ask to be tracked and surveilled by these things. I'm not a criminal. I'm not doing anything wrong. Please help get this story out!!!

It was after dark. 3 lights in a triangle shape at what appeared to be very low altitude. Was approx. 5x the size of a commercial jet but could not tell for sure. Object moved fairly slow, and was completely silent. Appeared to be over an apartment complex so there are likely other witnesses.

First thought was that it was a stealth bomber, however it was much much larger and it was not fast as they usually are.

Rapid moving flash of light while taking movie of clouds

Date: 27 July, 2016, at 820pm, The location is Lawrence, Kansas, stopped on Clinton Lake dam to view Venus and Jupiter at dusk.

I was taking photos of an interesting cloud bank with a new iPod touch (I don’t carry a cell phone), the first time I had ever used it for photos, hoping to get some really interesting photos of lightening. The photo is oriented looking east from Clinton Lake Dam, back towards the city of Lawrence, Kansas, seen in the background.

I accidentally took movies for several of them, since the photo app on my ipod is new to me.

10 seconds into the 17 second digital movie is a flash of light that crosses from mid-level left traveling to the upper right corner of the movie.

I saw this also with my eyes at the exact time of the event.

I got home quite a bit later and downloaded it into the computer.

I have seen something like this one other time on Clinton Lake Dam, only the light traveled much slower then.

My husband and I were driving back into Boston, MA, on route 93s, when he pointed out a fireball heading towards us. I looked up and it looked like a lit t-shape fork with the wings slightly tilted up at the ends, but completely covered with fire. I could not believe it. I almost stopped right there and then and almost caused an accident.

I pulled over by passing two lanes and parked on the emergency lane. The object kept flying at the same level and headed left over us into what could have been Lowell/Lawrence area. I was completely shocked. This is the second time I see something in the sky that is completely rare to me and the people with me. I tried to take a video/pic, but by the time I pulled over I only observed it for a few more seconds before it disappeared into the sky, meaning kept flying away from me.

I wonder if anyone else saw this? :/

Interdimensional being flying through the sky in a liquid motion.

Came out of nowhere, looked almost like a cluster of stars or birds moving like liquid through the sky, it was transparent aside from the multiple extremely dim lights coming from it, my girlfriend had seen it the night before and as she was trying to find a pic of it on the Internet is when it appeared, judging by the way that it moved I feel as though it was not a craft but an actual being of some kind, possibly from a difrent dimension. We were both immediately overcome with a kind of fear I have never felt before. It was clear that although it presented itself as a cluster of lights it was one entity, it was almost like a fast moving mist, but it was going against the wind. And it was definitely in our atmosphere.

bright cherry-red light,steady movement and altitude, did not fade out.

at apprx. 3:45 am, central standard time, I was in the parking lot of my place of employment. I happened to glance up and saw a bright light to the SE of my position. As this was just after the July 4th holiday, I thought it was a firework or flare.

I expected the light to either fade out or explode into a star-burst. Much to my surprise, this light was moving steadily from south to north. Aside from being obscured by cloud cover a couple times the bright red did not fade, nor did it change speed nor direction.

Because of its speed and altitude I thought it could be a plane, but I looked carefully and could not see any flashers, like a small plane would have. It looked exactly like a very bright cherry red flare. After about 1-2 minutes of observation, it was lost to sight as it traveled to the north.

On the Southside of Lonestar Lake, going from south to north, was a point of light that was moving in a straight line at a good speed, almost 2 times that of a passenger jet.

Part of me thought that it might have been a satellite but I have never seen one go straight north and south.

The light was bright as the brightest star I could see in the night sky. It had a white color to it and flew well above where the jets fly.

Object with pulsing wave of light moving around it

I stepped out back behind the Press building for a smoke and looked to the north and saw what a "line"(?) of pulsing lights in the sky slowly moving along the western edge of a thunderstorm. The lights were pulsing in a solid wave to the right, far too consistent to be an airplane's running lights, and one solid blue-white color. Could've been on the edge of a disk shaped object? Too far off to tell.

I moved positions to try and get a better look, but the object moved away and out of sight beyond the tree line, going very slowly. I have no idea what this was and am pretty excited because it couldn't have been an airplane. I've flown airplanes before. I know how they move and what their navigation lights look like, i.e. flashing in a set pattern and in green, red, and a white strobe.

This object seemed to be pulsing a wave of light that may have gone "around" the leading and trailing edges of the object.

Very cool. No way of telling how far off it was or how high up it was flying.

It moved to the north in a straight, steady pace.

The Lawrence Field Day and Free State festivals are going on right now, so I'm wondering if anyone else saw this.

Bright green fireball.

I was walking home from work, west bound on 10th Street at the intersection of 10th and Delaware in Lawrence, KS. I happened to look up and I saw a what looked like a green fireball streaking down toward town. The object moved like you'd expect a meteor to move and burnt out after a brief time. The object was very bright, the same sort of luminescence and coloration of burning copper. It left a trail and smaller pieces seemed to break off of it and burn out as they streaked across the sky. By my estimation, I'd say that it was no more than 1000 to 2000 feet above the ground.

I filed a report of a similar object that I saw around March of 2007 here on the NUFORC database as well. I'd always thought these fireballs were just common meteors that may have penetrated deep into the atmosphere, but I'm no meteorologist or astronomer.

After sighting the fireball mentioned in this report and reading about a similar sighting here in the database, I did some internet digging and found that green fireballs have been investigated by the Air Force in what was called "Project Twinkle." Since they are such an odd thing to see and worthy of the curiosity of the Air Force, I feel I should report them here.

Red Star-Like object moving in the sky. Two spotted twice and then 3 single ones after those.

A very clear evening and all stars could be seen. 2 Red moving balls of light that looked about the size of a bright big star. The light did not flash. 5 different instances. 2 of these lights were spotted moving at a constant speed diagonal from each other maintaining spacing. They eventually seemed to dim but appeared to be moving outward from the Earth and then disappeared quickly. almost instantaneously they reappeared in the same configuration in the opposite direction of where they were traveling but then seemed to travel the same path again.

Then there was one at different plain moving about the same speed as the first 2 in the same direction. As that one moved another one appeared at about the same plain but not exactly moving in the same direction. Then a 3rd one appeared in the same way but all were on a similar plain but they were not right behind each other. These moved at a speed that seemed slower than what a satellite seems to travel at when one goes over head. It was not a plane because I was able to see several planes prior to and after this spotting. The light were very visible on the planes and blinking could be seen.

It did not appear that the balls of red light were within Earths atmosphere. I was in the military and I am a quality manager now so I generally get details very correct. These were red and came from the west. I would not expect anything to move in that manner even though it seemed to drift to the east. They way they disappeared was unusual as well. I have seen flares and many things.

I also witnessed this same ball of light about 2 weeks prior to this sighting but there were two of them in the east sky not moving much. They stayed in one spot and one time drifted to east slightly, maintaining their configuration, and then stopped. They were there for about 3 minutes from time I spotted them. They too disappeared quickly but seemed to moving away from the Earth because these drifted as they seemed to move away.

I have some video but it looks just like a red star and nothing more on my phone camera video.

Bright light rises straight up quietly flys away

In the same exact spot a light seemingly get brighter rises straight into sky like helicopter then proceeds to slowly fly straight over same direction.

I can see plane fly way off into distance very good because I am on top of big hill (KU campus) that sits above land all around.

silent blue and white lights of craft object change color, approach myself and boyfriend, before changing into buzzing, everyday plane

A white light and a blue light (parallel to each other), moved horizontally across the sky in the distance, away from a lightning storm approaching our city from the north-west. The lights were level to each other like a pair of eyes watching my boyfriend and I on the porch at about 8:00p.m.

the two lights moved to our right (east) behind a large tree. The tree was about twenty or thirty feet near us. At this point, only I had seen the two lights.

Calling my boyfriend's attention to it, the blue light beamed from between the tree's leaves, then dimmed to original brightness. It moved perfectly backward, out from the tree, blue light still on the left side/white light on the right, to where it was in our view.

We were in total awe as the white light grew blinding and the blue light changed into a powerful green and the (object, craft) seemed to come directly AT us.

After glowing at a spotlight brightness, the craft backed away from us, dimming,and quickly hovered to the west behind another tree. The lights magically turned softer and red. The sound of an airplane filled the air, as it was totally silent the entire time, and it flew off.. into the east as this 'air plane'..

I am told a description of the observers is useful, but unless I am speaking directly to Peter, I will not leave any personal information. However, I am a completely sane and honest person, and witnessed this event within the hour of this report. I am reporting on this as a sign of my own awareness and concern for the questions we all have on our minds as witnesses... What DID I just see? Am I ok? Did anyone else in my city observe what we did? Should I worry? Did it see me too? this will have been my first report, but most certainly not the first time I've seen objects in the sky. This experience itself, however, was the most intense by far, and the energy in our bodies afterwards has been like static. Please email.

2 brightly lit craft with banks of lights seen after dark within ten minutes of each other in similar flightpath.

I was driving to pick my girlfriend up from work on E-7 HWY when from the S side, over a ridge, came a very bright craft with a bank of lights unlike anything I'd ever seen. Sunset had been just about 18:30. As it was turning to go N, it banked and the bank of lights turned with it. It looked like one quarter of the lights from the ships from Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind. I assume these were entirely terrestrial, but am including this report in case any others saw them. We were under wind advisory conditions and I can attest to 40-45 MPH winds and this would be a mean feat for any aircraft, especially lighter than air ones as these must have been. They were going too slowly to have been regular planes and almost looked as if they were some kind of advertising gimmick. I should note there is no military flight path nor event center I know of for miles. I followed this craft with the eye until I could no longer see it. I picked up my girlfriend (waiting about ten minutes) and immediately told her about the sighting. As we went back toward W HWY-10, another craft, exactly the same, came over the crest and I had to stop the car to give her a good look at it. Wind gusts were really getting high now, but the highly-lit craft (mostly white) with its bank of very bright lights took a similar flight plan and didn't seem to notice. No effects on car, radiation or otherwise. It did not occur to me to try to take video of either craft, if I had been very alert, along with traffic, I might have gotten blurry video that may have looked like a very new type of aircraft.

Diamond shaped object hovers over Kansas University Student Union 3/10/2012.

Location: Kansas Univ. Student Union Bldg, 3rd floor cafeteria table near window facing the football field. I was sitting with 2 other adults and 3 children. The reflection of one large diamond shaped object caught my attention out the window. I asked if anyone else could see what I saw, and only the two other adults could see it. None of the kids could see it, even though it was very bright and large.

I asked the kids to come around to where I was sitting to get better look, and they still could not see it, but for the adults it was still there the entire time. The object was stationary for about 3 minutes then flashed very bright and disappeared.

We looked down on the field hoping to find an explanation or witnesses, but no one was in sight. We never heard any sounds.

Details: Plenty of sunshine, no clouds, mid afternoon, no other aircraft or objects in the sky.

The object hovered motionless above the football field.

Large glowing spere like object appears vanishes and appears as a strange bar shaped object with two lights then vanishes.

Last night, August 1, 2011 at about quarter of 1 AM, as I was pointing out the constellations to a friend's younger brothers, I noticed a very strange object appear in the sky to the left of Mars in the west. It was a fiery orange/yellow globe hovering in the sky.

At first I had thought that perhaps it was a plane, because it had just suddenly appeared. Then I thought it could not be a plane, because the object was stationary for a minute or so and it was huge. Big enough that when I pointed it out to the boys they thought it was the moon! We watched it and I noticed it did not change size or shape, as I would have seen or expected from other planes in the sky. Typically the lights grow smaller or larger as it comes closer or further away. This was very different. It stayed hovering in the sky fixed in that one spot. The boys were looking for an explanation as to what it could be, I had none.

Then after a few moments of staring at the object it suddenly vanished, then reappeared further away in the same area. It was smaller and still glowing in the distance. Seconds later it vanished again and instantly reappeared moving to the right. I was stunned and the boys were frightened. It then appeared as two lights in what seemed like a strange bar like object with curved edges still moving to the right. It vanished from sight as it passed behind the trees in the distance. I kept looking to the other side of the trees expecting to see it appear on the other side again trying to reason that it was a plane. We watched for what seemed like forever. It never returned. I have yet to figure out what it could have been. It was scary to say the least.

The object was so bright and so large I expected to see it in the news this morning. I have yet to find anything on the matter. I found it so strange I was compelled to report to some one and found this sight. I hope perhaps this can provide me with an explanation as to what that object could have been.

Orange glowing craft hovering 30 yards about ground

Two friends and I were going to a late night movie at Regal movies in south Lawrence. I picked them up about 2145 and started driving south on Louisiana Street headed toward 31st street (this was before the South Lawrence Trafficway was built). While driving on Louisiana street my friend noticed a bright object in the sky and I thought it was a street light that had an orange hue. But as I got closer to the 31st street cross section, we all noticed an object the size of a small car hovering over the field across the street. I decided to take the back route the the theater which would take us right beside the field. As we got closer to the object, we decided to pullover and get out of the vehicle to get a closer look. To my recollection, it resembled a large basketball, round and the color was dark orange and the surface looked like flames. We stood there watching it, 50 yards away, for about a minute when it started moving south at a very slow speed. Then it stopped moving and that is when I felt that it had then noticed us. For a couple of seconds I stopped breathing and tried visually remember that moment. The craft made no sound as it hovered above the cornfield and when it started to move south again, it moved at a speed I have never witnessed in any object before. And in a blink of an eye, it was gone. To this day, my friends and I talk about our experience and do not know what it was other than a UFO. I tried telling others of our encounter and received suspicious stares. But after so many years, I had to share it with someone, somewhere. This experience made me believe.

I was driving to work on the 495 south bond lane going over the Lawrence MA bridge. when two cars passed me. then both cars hit there breaks. I applied mine. All three of us were going about 60 mph. I looked up in the cloudy sky and noticed an oval shaped light flying overhead erratically in the clouds from my car to the other two cars in front of me for about a ½ mile before disappearing.

Two orange objects spotted floating over Lawrence, Kansas, February 27, 2010 at 12:55 am.

I had just gotten home from a friends house and parked my car in the driveway. As I got out of my car I was looking at the Eastern part of the sky, which is very open from my driveway and this night was particularly clear. I instantly spotted two faint glowing orange lights off in the distance out of the Northeastern part of the sky that were headed South. The two objects, which had what I would describe as a fiery glow, were moving in formation, with one apparently leading the other and at a slightly higher altitude in the sky from my vantage point. The objects were traveling at a steady pace and appeared to float across the sky. I could not make out any sound coming from the objects, and to my knowledge they did not make any noise. I ran in to my front yard to try and track the two objects as they glided across the sky and disappeared behind my neighbors house. I ran to my side yard and around the back of my neighbors house, but the objects had vanished. T! he event was very brief but profound, I would have given anything to have had someone there with me to witness what I saw. This event felt like I was witnessing something that I could not possibly explain, which made the hair stand up all over my neck and arms. I have recently taken a more keen look at the sky as I am currently enrolled in an astronomy class at the University of Kansas, and I have to say that witnessing these two objects was easily the most intriguing, confusing, and spookiest thing I have witnessed to date.

Object appeared as I would imagine a flying Chinese lantern would look like (I've never seen one!). My wife and I (ages 46 and 54 at the time) had just dropped our college sophomore daughter off at her apartment (18th and Kentucky Streets) after taking her to dinner, and before we pulled out of the parking lot, we saw a strange glowing ball of light low in the northern sky and moving South in our direction.

At first I thought it was coming from a power line following the same direction, but quickly realized it was not, and it was so unusual (I am an Aerospace Engineer and multi-engine rated Private pilot) that I had to pull over to watch it. We both observed it for several minutes as it appeared to continually/slowly move South and increase in altitude. When it was approximately overhead, it appeared to quit moving laterally but continued to rise until it was out of site. We did not hear any sounds emanating from it and saw no other aircraft in the area.

I contacted the nearest airport's (North of the sighting area) manager the next day to ask if he knew of any aircraft departing the previous evening or of anyone launching a Chinese lantern from the airport area; he didn't. I also Googled to see if I could find anyone reporting what I saw; I found nothing. So, I laid it to rest, but was so mystified that I entered the date in my PC's calendar, so when I just discovered this website, I was able to check out reports for that date. Sadly, there were none similar or in the area on that same date.

two small, round lights moving very quickly, with abrubt direction and speed changes seen in South Lawrence.

In south Lawrence (11/20/8 7:40pm CST), in the area of 31st & Iowa Streets, I went out on the deck for a smoke- looked up at the stars, and saw what appeared to be two, small round objects (appeared as medium bright stars) moving North. The objects then stopped in mid 'flight' (flight was somewhat erratic- they would come close to each other, and then separate, but would always stay within a finger-width (from my perspective) apart), and then reversed direction and headed South. I lost sight of them when they moved past my effective field of vision- they moved very quickly- the whole sighting lasted about 30 seconds from when I first spotted them above my house. I thought at first they were high flying birds, but the strange flight characteristics (sudden direction changes, and what appeared to be terriffic speed (if they were as high as they appeared to be)) convinced me otherwise- I'm a college educated person who is extremely skeptical- I would not be writing this if I didn't truly believe that what I witnessed was something very odd indeed.

Two UFOs spotted in sky over Lawrence in a few minutes by lone observer.

This morning on 9/12/07 at approximately 4:10 AM CST in Lawrence, KS I went out onto my second story deck where I have an unobstructed view of the eastern sky to have a cigarette. Upon stepping out with my dog, motion caught my eye and I glanced up. Despite my classes in astronomy, merit badges, and 25+ years of amateur sky watching I have no name for what I saw other than UFO. I'm college educated, a respected member of my community, and former Army Reservist that held a Secret Security Cleareance. This is my first sighting, and I have debated about whether to even say anything to anyone, for fear it may harm my professional reputation. I was certainly a skeptic until last night.

What I saw when I looked up was at a very high altitude, its initial position in the sky was just north of the constellation Orion and about 75 degrees above the horizon. I believe it may have been initially traveling either due west or descending because it did not seem to be traveling fast. Then almost immediately it turned sharply to the south and crossed the sky at a speed I can only compare to a meteor. Much faster than any satellites or planes I have witnessed. The object was illuminated at first, perhaps from entry; it then faded in intensity as it crossed the sky to the south. The object did not streak, or trail however. It also did not seem to be producing the light itself. It had a white-blue glow and seemed large. The glow disappeared when it was about three quarters of the way across the sky, and I could no longer track the object. All of this took place in about before I was able to light my cigarette, I think maybe about 5 seconds or so.

I kept my eye on the sky for some 2 to 3 minutes trying to see if it would reappear, I had about convinced myself that it was just a meteor, when out of the north a fast moving triangle of 2 red and 1 blue (non-blinking) lights flew across the sky at a increasing altitude, on what appeared to be an intercept course. I assume the lights were a single craft, but may have been a formation of three crafts at a much higher altitude. This one also moved much faster than anything I am familiar with and I have lived in this area for 31 years. I counted 6-mississippi as this craft crossed the sky, but it remained in my field of vision longer, and its lights did not extinguish.

In both cases there was no noise. I pondered what I had seen and watched for additional movement in the night sky. I did spot a plane flying northeast possibly towards Chicago or further north, it was too high to be flying to KC. I could hear it, and it took several minutes to cross out of my field of vision. I called a friend of mine at 4:18AM according to my cell phone, after finishing my cigarette.

Two Isosceles Triangluar-shaped craft gliding effortlessly.

I tend to be someone who looks in the sky quite a bit. I have seen chunks of cosmic debris burning up as they pass in to our atmosphere in a variety of colors, shooting stars, satellites, and all sorts of aircraft, YET I've NEVER seen anything like this.

I was on the phone with my friend and decided to go outside for a bit. I was looking up in to the clear night sky when all of the sudden, my eyes caught unfamiliar movement. I focused in on the movement. My eyes revealed to me two triangular shaped crafts. They were dark in color and had white spots all over the bottom. I assumed the white spots on the bottom were for lights. They looked like lights that weren't turned on.

The crafts were flying due North. They seemed to be at the height of a low-flying plane. A few odd things I noticed: -They flew like birds gliding through the sky. No noise whatsoever.

-As the went off in to the horizon, they were flying towards eachother, but didn't seem to be impacting one another.

-While they were shaped like triangles, they were not equilateral. Not only that, but they were not flying aerodynamically. What would visually appear as the head of the triangle, was NOT the front of the northern moving ships. It was like they were flying sideways.

This sighting lasted about 15 seconds. It all happened so quick that I was not able to even think about getting my camera inside. Way too dark, way to short of a sighting. However, I am a skeptic at heart. I have NEVER seen anything like this, and know what I saw was valid.

The mystery to me is: were these man-made craft that are just being kept secret, or are these extraterrestrial craft? Either way, they were most certainly UFO's to my eyes.

Object with crescent-shaped 'nose' flew in direction of the opened side (i.e. with pointed ends of crescent leading)

While sitting in my car in a parking lot in downtown Lawrence I happened to notice an unusual aircraft heading in a north easterly direction. My training is in cognitive psychology and I no doubt lack the background and vocabulary to describe this object in precise terms, so please bear with me. Fortunately, my training and background did provide me with the good sense to sketch the object immediately after seeing it.

The overall shape of the object was roughly similar to that of a crescent wrench. The end-portions were like different sized semi-circles, with the one at the nose being smaller and perhaps less 'closed' than the one aft. The portion connecting the two crescents, or the 'handle-part' to continue the crescent-wrench metaphor, was oblong--perhaps something like a cigar, the extreme aft portion of which extended slightly into the inside of the crescent and was rounded. The end 'points' of the aft crescent seemed to have rounded objects attached or were perhaps rounded themselves as if there were engines (?) or something at those points. I cannot estimate speed or altitude reliably. I might hazard to guess that it was roughly the same size as a commercial jet. It appeared to be a dull black or dark-grey colored-- not the shiny metalic surface of commercial jets. It did seem to have a noise of some sort, but it wasn't very loud and I did not notice any visible exhaust or vapor; however, I don't recall now if the sky were overcast or not, which perhaps could mask a vapor trail (?). If it were, it must have been below any significant amount of haze or cloud vapor because I could see it clearly. Although it was 6:22 pm, it was still early enough to be seen easily. I did not notice any lights. The object moved outside of my view after a few seconds (10-15?) due to buildings around me.

What struck me as odd, was that the semi-circle or crescent on the front was opened in the direction of travel, i.e. the 'points,' if you will, of the semi-circle on the front of the 'fuselage(?),' pointed in the direction of travel. Perhaps this is not unusual in aviation today, but it is counter-intuitive to the casual observer.

I should also note that Lawrence is about 50 miles or so south/south west of Kansas City Internationl (MCI) airport. We are also about 100 miles east of Ft. Riley, a military base. I assume that this is some kind of new military plane or something, but the fact that no one else I showed my sketch to (non-military, non-aviation folks such as as myself) had ever seen one made me think I should report it. I also did a google search and was interested in the account of the engineer from Huntsville, AL who posted on your site in June of 2003. I was very interested in comparing my sketch to his if what I describe here is not a currently identifiable aircraft.

Isosceles triangle shaped craft, seemingly hovering, and then disappearing.

I was driving due east on 15th Street and had just crossed Kasold Street when I noticed a low flying object. I am not a good judge of aerial distances, but maybe 1000 feet in the air. It seemed likely that the object was an airplane at first, because it bore the blinking red, white, and blue lights typical of airplanes. However, after a few blocks the object was nearly directly over me, and it definitely had the shape of an isosceles triangle with the short side not much shorter than the two even-length sides. Two aspects of this sighting made it strange. First, the object was barely moving. Although I was driving, I had slowed way down to maybe 5mph and it seemed to be hovering. Becuase the car was on, I cannot say whether it was making any noise, though I heard none over my engine. Second, after driving by the object about 5 blocks, I turned the car around to look at it again. It still seemed to be hovering, so I reached under my seat to grab my binoculars. When I looked up, it was gone. I didn't see it zip away or blink out. It simply was no longer visible. There were some high clouds, but definitely higher in altitude than the object. Of course, turning off its lights would have been sufficient to hide it from my sight.

I guess I'm not an unbiased reporter, since I frequently scan the sky in the hope of seeing something. However, in ~ten years of sky watching, this is the first sighting I've felt compelled to report.

My roommates and I were all watching TV in the dorm, when they suddenly jumped up and started freaking out while looking out the window. I was totally confused, and thought they were messing with me. I got up to look and saw lights floating in the sky, but was still skeptical. It then continued onward towards the dorms. It then came into view. It was obvious that it was a sphere like shape. with three lights. I thought, this has to be an airplane, until it plainly came in view. It then flew over the dorm, I ran into the room across the hall and looked through their window. The UFO at this point began to roll head over heals (as visible by the lights) and then flew off quickly out of sight. I am totally a nonbeliever but I saw this, and unless the government has some sort of secret hovering sphere like craft, I am now an unwanting believer.

This craft moved with too much force, that would've killed a person.

My wife and I happened to be looking up and saw a light moving erratically. It moved faster then a commercial airliner from west to east and suddenly stopped. Then went back in the opposite direction at the same speed and then stopped again, then went to the north. It did these kind of maneuvers for about a minute. The cloud cover was thick but this was underneath, then it went up. This incident was between the Topeka and Lawrence area of Kansas. I wouldn't even be posting this unless it was true. Wow.

If this is government technology then I'm very impressed, but I highly doubt it is.

Bright, Color Changing Fast Object

At approximately 4:00 AM Central Time, out of habit I looked outside at the courtyard and looked at the sky. As I looked I saw in the clear night sky a stationary object that was changing colors from white to red to blue. It was stationary but as I kept watching it, it got brighter as it got down in the atmosphere until it looked like a very very bright object changing colors in the western sky. It was approximately 30,000-40,000 feet up in the sky (comparing to an airplane at that height in the daytime sky)and it would move quickly from left to right, up then down, then it would return to a stationary position. I watched it for about 45 minutes then it began going up in the sky at a fast rate. It would first go northward, then it would shift position and go west making a sharp 90 degree angle as it went up. It was moving at a very fast speed and within about 10 minutes it went from the brightest light in the sky to a very dim light like a far away star. I kept my eye on it as it moved away, then it disappeared.

Chevron or V shaped formation of hazy (no lights) objects silently moving at incredible speed.

My friend and I were outside enjoying the evening and a couple of cigars. We were looking up at the stars that we saw. There were very few because we were in the heart of the city. All of the sudden we see this jet roaring towards us coming from the south west and flew overhead. We ran inside to tell my friends fiance about the jet. She obiviously heard it. About 3 minutes later we went outside to finish our cigars. All of the sudden 3-5 triangular to oval objects flying at high altitude and incredible speed in a chevron or "W" shaped formation. The objects had no light except for a slight haziness(almost like the lights from the city were reflecting off of them) and made no sound whatsoever. They flew right behind a tree that was blocking our line of sight and I run away from the tree so that I can catch another glimpse of them. By the time I got to where my sight was not obstructed, about 4-5 seconds, they were gone. Of course, we dismissed them as a flock of geese traveling in a V but the objects were traveling towards the north and they made no honking noises which got us to thinking that these were not geese. The "objects" were also traveling at high altitudes and incredible velocity so we ruled them out as geese. We now believe that the jet was maybe some sort of escort of some sort, maybe sweeping the area with a radar. We have no explination for the "objects" we saw.

5 objects of circular shape make a W shape in the sky

I observed this on campus while heading to my engineering class.

I saw 5 "dots" in the sky, at first I thought there were birds flying, but they appeard to be at a very high altitude. They were also moving too fast for a bird. I doubt that weather ballons move that face too.

The 5 dots made a W shape in the sky and were moving south-west north-east 3 of the dots are white, 1 was green, and the last one was either red or pink.

I also saw a very clear aircraft passing by them. It looked like a military aircraft. The event took about two mins.

Maybe it's a new experiment in avaiation technology, I don't know. Hopefully we have an explanation soon.

At around 9:10 Pm I noticed a long thin objet in the sky. I believed it to be a airplanes streak from high altitude at first, but as i watched the entire thing moved little by litte. It was far off i nthe distance but looked as if it was close do to its size. It was an long cigar shaped, and must have been hughe because it was about the length of an airplane at 200 feet in the air, but was noticably far off in the distance. I watched it for 2 min, then went to get a camera, but was gone when i returend about 5 sec later. NO trace of evaporation from airplane or anytihng in the sky.

Aat 10:10pm I was traveling east on highway k-10 near the intersection of the Wakarusa exit. I was surpriced by number of green lights 7 to 11 thatwere traveling west. Three of these sources of lights were radiating a beam of light much as those projected by aircrafts. The objects turned north, by now they were traveling in an horizontal direction and all of them appeared like a green light with an orange tail. After passing in front of me and traveling a distance os approx. 2 to 3 miles they disappeared from the sky. I called the local police department and found out that they were numerous reports of people seeing these lights. I entered this site to see if other people reported seeing the same.

a huge flotilla of 50-200 glowing objects moving in formation

A sight to boggle the mind, the flotilla appeared in the southwest sky, travelling to the northwest at moderate speed in formation of 50-200 by various accounts. The craft appeared to emit a surrounding glow and emitted long tail plumes which also glowed. Some craft were seen as solid (not blinking) yellow lights that traveled in formation. The speed was greater than helicopters and no sounds were heard to be emitted by the flotilla. I seriously have no idea what this flotilla of craft could have been, but there were a lot and it was spectacular and many people saw the event. Whatever it was, it was big, as the lights stretched across half of the sky before fading.

Possible Explanation for 9/29/1999 Lawrence, KS Sighting

In your reported sightings database for Kansas there is a sighting in Lawrence, KS for 9/29/1999 at 21:37 PM (reported on 9/30/1999, with note as date changed from 2000) of a triangular craft flying over 23rd street near Checkers grocery store. My girlfriend and I saw something very similar last night (5/10/2001, at roughly 11:35 PM) from the Checkers parking lot that was definitely a jet aircraft (I think a commercial airliner). The aircraft was very low in the sky (larger than a quarter at arms length) and moving from the SW to the NE. It was moving rapidly relative to an observer on the ground, though not especially fast relative to another conventional aircraft in the sky, and due to the darkness of the sky and lighting pattern on the aircraft when viewed directly underneath it had a vague boomerang or triangular shape. However, as I was standing outside and could concentrate on watching the object (unlike the person who reported the 1999 sighting, who was driving in his car), I could barely make out an aircraft body and tail section bisecting the boomerang. The craft looked very strange when I first noticed it, as it had two unblinking(?) white lights (one on each wing) roughly 2/3 to 3/4 of the way back on each wing (measured from the body to the tip of the wing) and a single unblinking(?) red light on the body between the wings (thus the apparent V shape), but as before once I stared at it awhile I could make out the body of the aircraft. I heard no sound when it flew overhead, though as there was a thunderstorm some distance to the north (thus significant winds at the jet’s altitude) that’s not surprising. The jet was in sight for about 30 seconds or so (very rough time estimate). Lawrence is in the flight path of several commercial airlines stopping at MCI (Kansas City International) airport and has been for the past several years (as early as 1996 my friends and I used to sit out on the patio with cigarettes and beer and, to pass the evening hours, played a game where we would see who could see each jet first as it flew overhead from SW to NE). Between 8:00 PM and midnight dozens of jets cross over the town from SW to NE, though not usually at such a low altitude. I suspect that what the man and his wife saw on 9/29/1999 was a low altitude jet on approach to MCI.

Spectacular "rainbow" cloud in Kansas, too!

This parallels the Tawakoni, TX account of 8/9/00 at 23:50. On my way back to work I saw an extraordinary high cirrus cloud formation. Slightly larger than the back of your hand held at arms length, the cloud had a gorgeous, irradescent rainbow effect over it's full length. Similar to "sun dogs" (which I've seen several times) this was much more spectacular. I only mention it after reading the similar account out of TX on about the same day and was curious that the distance between KS and TX would allow the same cloud phenominon.

Pulled out of Checker's parking lot, (grocery store)onto 23rd St. Driving East until I came onto 23rd & Ohio St. Present with my wife, we were looking toward's the North, when we observed the object in the sky. Above our car, moving at a high rate of speed, was a triangler-shape, with no center. The craft was about 200 ft. in th air, decending towards the NorthEast. Lights were on the left & right side of the craft.

This occurence, happened the night of 09/29/99 in Lawrence, KS. Just got done grocery shopping, and present with my wife, we noticed a triangular-shaped object off to the North. This happened after pulling onto 23rd St, and coming up to 23rd & Ohio St. About 200 feet above us, and traveling at a high rate of speed, (no sound) was this trangular object with no center to it. As this was traveling, it decended off to the NorthEast, where we lost sighting of it.

I was on my way home with my daughter, from picking up my son at the theater. I looked up into the sky, and seen a silver triangular shaped, object, with red, yellow, and green lights. It zigzagged, and than shot up into the sky, than shot back down, shot back up, then dissapeared in plain veiw.

Red Light seen in Lawrence, Kansas, during Johnny Carson's Monologue

I don't remember the exact date since it was over 20 years ago but I saw something that I could not find any reason to exist save for being a UFO of some sort.

I saw a light appear in the sky while I was watching my small (about 10-inch) black and white TV as I was getting ready to go to sleep. The time is about right because I was watching Johnny Carson's monologue. An ad break came on, so I just glanced outside and this is when I saw an orange-red ball of light "hovering" in the sky. I stared at it for a moment, then leaned up to get a better look at it. At that point, it zoomed away toward the left side of the window (which would equate to a northerly direction of movement) but returned when I lay back down on the pillow. I looked around my room to see what might be causing a reddish reflection in the window but there was nothing. I looked back at the window again and found that the ball was still just hovering there. Testing again that it was something in the room, I leaned forward again and it zoomed off again, as before, and returned when I lay back down. I tried it again and it zoomed away yet again but not to the left (north). Instead, it dashed away nearly straight up and did not return when I put my head back on the pillow. I tried sitting up and down a few more times but it didn't return. At that point, as I had missed most of Johnny's monologue, I shut off the TV and went to sleep.

The next night, during the monologue, the object returned. We went through the same ritual again but for less time this night: on the second sit-up from the pillow, it zoomed off and away again.

This repeated for the next few nights but then never returned.

There were no street lights that could explain this as there was only one light in the area and that was almost directly beneath where the sphere was seen. It couldn't have been someone with a laser pointer since they were not common two decades ago and it would not explain the type of motion that I witnessed. Further, I did hold up my hand to see if it was broadcasting a confined beam of light, such as a flashlight might project and nothing of that nature was in evidence. I also made sure two of the nights that everything in the bedroom was shut off and unplugged. (At the time, that included only my TV, which had no LEDs as it was an old-style dial TV with a built-in antenna, an alarm clock/radio, and an Apple //c computer with external SupraModem 2400 dial-up modem.) The bedroom door was closed, so no light sources from another room were possible.

I have no idea what it was but am convinced that it was not something as easily explained as a reflection or a terrestrial aircraft, not with the flight characteristics that the movements implied. Thus, this, to my mind, equates to an unidentified flying object.

I remembered my cousin and I were walking home, when this craft was moving slowly over top of us it was triangler, black and had no noise.

We were really amazed but never told anyone because we knew no one would believe us.

There just has to be others who seen this because it was in day light.

And it couldn't have been any more than 150 feet above us.
