A crescent-shaped light that seemed to be cut off by going behind something.

My girlfriend and I were sitting on my front porch and she observed a crescent-shaped light that was brighter in the front and dimmed as it moved through the sky, going West. It faded away as if it were going behind a building.

She got my attention and I looked up from my phone. My phone was bright and it was dark, so it was hard for me to see. However, I saw what looked to be the moonlight behind the clouds, but if it were on a night where the moon were particularly orange. I looked away to let my eyes adjust to the night and looked back to discover that it was gone. I looked to my south-southwest to discover the moon in the sky. Whatever we saw was not the moon.

I have an app on my phone, Flightradar24. It’s fairly self-explanatory but it is a flight radar. I’ve been able to track planes, public and private, as well as helicopters using this app for about two months with ease. If there’s a plane in the sky, I can tell you where it came from and, if it has a destination, where it’s going. I immediately checked this app to discover no nearby planes. No nearby helicopters. Nothing in the sky that was being picked up on the radar, not even a balloon (which I’ve also been able to see throughout the country.)

Unfortunately, I was unable to get any pictures of this, but I wanted to report it in case anybody else saw it and decided to do the same thing.

Highly reflective Cylinder object seen on the William Floyd Pkwy., Long Island

Traveling South on William Floyd Parkway in Mastic Long Island. We were about 2 miles north of Brookhaven laboratory. It was late in the afternoon about 5:45 PM. The sun was glaring on my right side I saw a flash and noticed a shiny cylinder shaped object hovering stationary in the sky. The object was extremely reflective and seemed to reflect the sun off the object. The object did not have writing or lights on it. the trees going by on the right side made it difficult to get a long view of the object because it was at a lower height then an airplane would be.

I lost sight momentarily behind the trees but located it seconds later and then it was gone.

Fireball in southeast sky that changed shapes.

Fireball was hovering low outside my bedroom window, facing south. The fire started to move upward and then backward. The fireball moved slowly east in a up and down zigzag motion. I heard numerous car horns beeping in the distance. Lost sight of the fireball as it moved southeast. I have a video and the fireball was not shooting across the sky like a meteor. I called Suffolk County Police to make a report.

Big orange lights in V formation joined by more lights before turning away.

I have never seen anything in the sky that I could not find some explanation for. I was outside on the front porch with my mother for a cigarette. She pointed toward the sky behind me, suddenly very animated. I turned around, still sitting, and saw what looked like huge glowing orange lights in a perfect V formation moving in sync over the trees across the street. It was silently heading our way in a cluster.

We hurried to get a closer look and stood watching from the highway. About three more appeared as if out of nowhere; if anything they were already up and lowered to meet the rest as opposed to floating up or rising. They were moving together, the first three more in sync though the spaces between them were not perfectly in unison as we continued to watch them head our way. My mom was panicked and thought they were actually coming to us, since we were the only people out watching (it was a little before 11pm and we are mostly surrounded by shopping cente! rs that were closed.) They had to be either very big or not that high, though higher than the trees.

The first three then began to curve around and turn away, going over the lake and disappearing. The rest followed suit one by one, becoming more of a line and getting smaller as they travelled away from us. They all vanished into the sky except for one, which slowly glided away before it was blocked by the top of some buildings or condos over on the further side of the lake.

I have heard of orange lights before but until you see it, you don't understand how far out and perplexing it can be. My mother kept saying how she felt like it was aware of us and though I do not like to make such quick assumptions, it felt a bit eerie.

I had tried taking a picture but they didn't show on the camera preview on my phone, possibly because of street light glare. I did a search online and am going to keep checking to see if anyone else saw this but so far (its been 30 mins since it happened! ) nothing else has come up for tonight though I'm reading acco! unts fro m five days ago around NY and before that the same description was in Britain.

I read "explanations" blaming Chinese Lanterns. These were not Lanterns. I've seen Lanterns set off in the sky at night, I've seen balloons with flames set off at festivals, air balloons, sky divers, flares, this was nothing like that. They moved with precision.

My stomach is still fluttering. It was like a one time event sighting. In my mother's 56 years she has never seen anything like it.

My window faces the sky where she first spotted them. I think I'll be on watch all night...

I live on the south shore of LongIsland on a flight path from JFK airport where passenger jets often fly when leaveing the US. East-northeast. There were two jets timely apart very high, the trees leaves were not bloomed so i had a direct view.

Then i saw a red-dark red sphere glowing in the sky on the same trail of the jets but it moved south then north and stoped as if it new I saw it. I shined my mag lite at it and it came closer to observe me, it was very fast then stoped again, then flew right above me and stopped. It was a deep red-maroon with a motion of color ball shape and silent. It approched me from the east stopped above me, seemed nerveus shakey then took off to the west very fast without a sound and then disapeared.

Bright circle object with dark spot in the middle very fast.

Both me and my friend saw this U.F.O. (Unidentified flying object not some round thing with martians in it) it was just after dark between 5:20- 5:30. We both happened to glance at the sky at the rite moment. It was traveling in the same direction I was so it passed over me(not directly over a few feet over my head but up in the air over me) and flew in a straight path until it wasn’t visible, which was about less than 5 seconds It was going very fast there wasn’t anything to get in my field of view so it flew until I couldn’t see it which again was less than 5 seconds.

It was a round in shape I’m not sure how maneuverable it was it flew in a straight path. The whole circle was white but not colored it was a white like it was radiating light around the bottom until the middle of it which was just a dark spot.

Rectangular object floating above trees.

It was around 1am & my husband was working. I heard a squeaking noise outside and looked out the window. There was a rectangular object hovering above the tallest tree in my neighbors house. It was quite close & pretty much I was frozen in my tracks. I initially thought it was a helicopter (medivac type that is rectangular). I opened up the back door quickly to get a closer look. However, it was NOT stirring up any wind – especially being so close, and it didn’t sound like a helicopter at all. It made a squeaking sound pretty much like a squeaky wheel. It was hovering completely stable unlike a helicopter remaining perfectly still. I tried calling my husband on the cell (it is what I grabbed first), but the call failed multiple times. I retreated to my bedroom where I peeked thru the blinds of a darkened room. I had closed the blinds at one point & looked out again and it was gone. I then saw & heard a “obvious” helicopter roaming around with a search light. The sound very unlike the first object I had seen, and also a different shape (smaller oval helicopter). My only regret is I didn’t grab my camera or camcorder. I was too much in shock & too frightened to even make a move past the windows.

Bright light over NY

My husband and I work very early mornings doing deliveries. I have always been fascinated with the stars and take every available opportunity to look up at them while working. So was the case today, August 18, 2007, like around 4:40am.

I looked up and saw what I thought was a shooting star but immediately decided that it could not be one because it continued moving and was very bright. I told my husband who immediately saw it. We decided that it was impossible for it to be an airplane because it was moving very fast. My husband looked down for a second and lost track of it, but I didn’t. The light continued moving and suddenly began to turn, up and down and left and right, as if it was trying to avoid hitting something up there. Eventually, I too lost track of it.

Afterwards my husband and I were talking about what we had seen and realized that we were looking at two different objects going on two different directions; his was going north and mine south east.

@approx.20:00hr.s My wife & I noticed a bright light high altitude.it appeared like a helicopter spot light.almost as if it was heading downward,then it got dimmer yet still bright.i was facing east from, my location and it appeared a little to the south east. approx. 5 min later.same type object came fromsouthwest heading northeast.it looked lower.very bright then gone.My wife is a skeptic & she was amazed by this light.I have seen many object's in the sky satelites,meteor's,space shuttle.i have never witnessed what I saw tonight..It seemed to have somewhat of a tail of light but I can't say for sure...No blinking,no noice..thanks

i was out one night having a catch with my friend when he had said he saw a shooting star i didnt think nothing of it until he kept saying he saw one every 2 minutes i thought he was lying and being stupid but he told me to wait a minute and look then suddenly from the opposite dirrection of the other sightings came this big circle shape object it looked like a meteor we ran in and told his dad his told us that it was probaly a meteor shower but if it was both me and my friend thought that last one should have crashed according to its size detail and up close it looked
