Black cylinder with an orange light

Ok, so I got done shopping and was getting in the car when I saw a black shape with an orange light on it. I immediately thought it was a helicopter. It was moving towards me to the right of my car. I got in the seat and started the car when I realized it didn’t look like a helicopter at all. I leaned over to look out the passenger window and the thing was floating closer and then slowed down to a hover. I could clearly see it was a black cylinder, with a orange light with a lighter yellow center. The light and the object both felt organic to me. The light was fluctuating much like a fire would, not changing size but intensity of the light. It was off center of the object, like between four and five o’clock on a clock face. The edges were solid and it was solid black but seemed to fluctuate for lack of a better term. It seemed to be only a few hundred feet up. I looked into the back seat to grab my DSLR when I realize it had my 85mm lens on it still, but I had a 70-300 in my bag. I leaned over to check it again before changing the lens and getting out of the car and it was gone. I hopped out of the car and could not see it anywhere. Nothing it could have hid behind. Gone.

Disappointed I get back in my car and go to drive out of the lot, when I get to the far end I see a small black object to my left. I quickly take a picture with my phone and scramble to change the lens. It’s going north/northwest now, was east originally and it’s moved a fair distance in maybe 15 seconds, it goes behind the tree in the picture and I wait for it to come out and nothing. After about ten seconds I head the direction I saw it going thinking maybe it started going west, I drove like three blocks to where I could see pretty clearly all directions and got out and looked around. Not a sign. I called a friend a few miles north and asked them to humor me and look to see if they could see it and they said the sky was clear.

Lights on a oval/disk craft with rotation

Driving into Centralia on US-51 from Irvington, I looked to my left (west) and saw lights in a slight diagonal curved row. We pulled over on the side of the road (near Country Bobs) and watched as the seemingly stagnant object floated, then rotated slightly, and started to shut lights off shut off before it disappeared in a blink of an eye. While watching it, you could see a faint outline of a craft in the dark sky. This all happened within seconds. We did not hear any unusual sounds. The area that this happened in is mostly farmland with scattered houses.

V formation of 7-9 white orbs moving quickly beneath the moon

In Centralia, WA around 9pm I was on my way outside and looked up at the sky. It was cloudy, but I distinctly saw 7-9 glowing starlike orbs traveling south to northeast dipping under the moon. They were in a v like formation with the center point leading like a flock of geese. It seemed to me that they were their own entities. I thought they may be shooting stars at first but they were traveling too slow for that. It lasted about 5 seconds. My friend who was on the other side of the yard also saw the same thing.

These unknowns have appeared nightly since 12/01/20. One night I was using my telescope to observe a meteor. I spotted something moving to my right.it was an oval shaped object with a light source projecting from the top and bottom. I went inside to get my camera on the scope and the object descended to Ian estimated 100 ft. The craft was covered in green, yellow and red panels. It was noiseless. I turned to focus my camera and it was gone.

To be honest, I don't believe it was an "Alien" type of UFO, just a UFO in the broadest sense. It is quite bright (2x brightness of Jupiter). The speed was very slow. Not a satellite, or plane/helicopter. Path was South to North, passing roughly 3 degrees over Moon. Possible unknown small comet, or asteroid? No visible "Tail" Lost sight after passing trees and buildings.

Big orange light in the night sky.

That night around 9 pm I went out to my car to grab my charger. I looked up and saw a orange light in the sky. I thought it was a bit weird because it didn’t look like a plane it was one orange light in the sky that was kind of big in size but not huge. You could clearly tell it was not a plane. The orange light began to brighten and then dim, like it was slowly pulsing but it stayed orange the whole time, never changing colors. I yelled for my relative to come and take a look to confirm what I was seeing but while they were trying to get outside the light pulsed one last time and then seemed to just fade away and it was gone. I have been looking at the sky around the same time for 3 weeks now and have not seen it again. But I do know it was not a airplane or a helicopter, the light was orange like a pumpkin orange and it was a big singular light in the sky.

19:10 Sunday night I saw what looked like a bright planet in the sky. I assessed the brightness of other objects in the sky because this looked too bright. I checked to see if it was moving and found it was stationary. I had to run an errand so dismissed it. Upon returning I looked again and found it was gone which wasn't right if it were a planet. I surveyed the sky and saw a bright light due west of my location, moving toward me I thought until I realized it was growing smaller and actually moving up and away from me in a straight launch angle in a west southwest vector until it left the atmosphere, I assume. It disappeared in a matter of seconds. It was completely silent throughout the observation.

Saw object over trees. Thought it was fireworks because of the holiday, but it headed south in a straight line, then made a V-pattern to the east. It went back to the original line it was traveling on, then stopped. After stopping for a few moments, it continued and stopped again, and did this one more time. It then made what seemed like a 90 degree turn, directly away from me, into the upper atmosphere and disappeared.

Right after the sun goes down, lights appear in sky towards the west. I used camara on phone to look at lights and they continuously move about never staying in one spot for very long. These same lights have been there for over week now. I videotaped them whith phone camara. They don't move unless you see them on screen of phone camara. Have videotaped lights being shot out rear of the lights. I can see lights better with phone camara. Have taken numerous pictures of lights moving so fast they change course and flash different colors.

Bright light "explodes" then disappeared

On June 25, 2015, at approximately 11:40 PM, my boyfriend and I were standing on the balcony of The Great Wolf Lodge hotel looking east. The sky was completely clear and I noticed that even though we were in a populated area that more stars were visible in Centralia than at home in Everett.

As we were admiring the stars I pointed to a moving light. I thought it was a satellite moving from the South to the north but just as I said, “Hey, look it’s a satellite,” it suddenly “flamed up” got extremely bright then disappeared out of sight. Almost as though a rocket engine had engaged. Not exactly sure what it was. Very well could have been a satellite and we just got lucky and saw it burn up in the atmosphere.

Wasn’t going to report but I haven’t been able to get it off my mind since.

Small group of colored lights, red, green, yellow, hovering in a bobbing around motion above horizon.

Unidentified flying object sighting: At approximately 22:20 on September 14, 2014, I stepped out the door of my computer room, which faces the west, in order to see if I could see any Northern Lights. I did not see them.

A small group of colored moving lights caught my eye. It was approximately due west of my house in Centralia and just above the horizon, which in this case is a hill known as Cooks Hill. The lights were just above the hill, probably at around 15 – 20 degrees elevation from a true level horizon.

The light was bobbing around in one area and not moving in any one direction. I watched for about five minutes and then went to get my binoculars. With the binoculars, it was more clearly about four lights. They were positioned with a green light at the top, then perhaps two red lights in the middle, and another green light at the bottom. There was also the typical yellow light amongst them but it was hard to hold the binoculars steady so that there was some jiggling of the object. The small area covered by the lights would be about the size of the full moon. The yellow, red and green lights, in size and brightness, were much the same as airplane lights in size and brilliance. But if they were from an airplane it was not going anywhere. I watched for about ten minutes, total, and the small group of lights just bobbed around, up and down, side to side, much as a fishing bobber that was being dangled above the water but not in it. I could hear no sounds of an aircraft.

When I went to turn on my computer at 22:29, in those few seconds, the object(s) was gone.

It could possibly have been a helicopter but the prolonged bobbing around motion in the same spot does not seem like a practical explanation.

The area over and beyond Cook’s Hill is mostly wooded but with homes along the rural Cook’s Hill Road. When I last looked at the area of the sighting, at 23:00, they had not reappeared.

Bright red light during the night over Centralia, Washington

Monday June 2nd, 02:04 in the morning, in Centralia, Washington. The weather conditions were clear at this time.

I was standing on the front porch of my house, which faces to the North. I happened to look to the west and I saw a bright red light traveling at a slow rate of speed in a downward trajectory, almost as if it were coming straight at me. Then it seemed to level off and made very subtle movements left to right, almost unnoticeable.

The object continued to travel in a easterly direction and no longer towards me. The brightness of the light never gained or lost brightness as one would expect of an airplane traveling in the night sky. Also there was no sound coming from this object that was traveling at an altitude that normal aircraft would fly at. I can not say how high up in the sky it was, as it was night and my ability to judge distance is not as good as it would be during the day. But if I had to guess, I would say that it was at a height of maybe 5,000 to 7,000 feet, but that is only a guess.

As this object was now traveling in and easterly direction it started to make a slow arc to the South East, and began to travel over my house. I watched the object and I noticed that the color and brightness of the light did not dim or change one bit as it passed over my location, as one would expect with a normal aircraft. I continued to watch the object and after it passed over my house it traveled for a bit more then seemed to stop and not move one bit.

I ran into the house at this time and tried to find something that I could take a picture with, realizing that I did not have time to do this I went back outside. The time I was in the house was maybe less the 30 seconds. The object was no where to be seen. I have good visibility around my house so I would have been able to see it traveling had it started to move again. The rate of speed that it had been traveling had been slow as if it were a helicopter, not fast at all. I looked and looked all around bout could not find it again.

I am sure I will never see anything like this again in my life and I wish I had had the ability to film it. I have been around aircraft all my life. I have flown myself, and my father was a pilot, with an A & P license. My uncle had flown all his life, and was the founder of the Fire Mountain Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol here in Lewis county, and also my mother's husband had retired from the Air Force and had flown with the Thunderbird's after Viet-Nam.

I was in the Army and have flown in numerous helicopters.

Weird looking object hovering,then moving quickly.

I was driving on Hartfield - Centralia Road (a.k.a. county touring rte 54) in Chautauqua county N.Y. at about 8:45 am on the morning of April 1, 2014.

As I neared the intersection with Ellery - Centralia road,I happened to look to the left out the driviers side window.

I saw an object hovering in the air in the clear blue morning sky! It looked like it was hanging there motionless! I pulled over and stopped to see what it was and to see if it really was motionless.

Once I was stopped,I could see that this object was actually moving very,very slowly to the west.

I got a pretty good look at it.

It was roughly tadpole shaped with a little nub of some sort sticking out on one side.

It was not at all smooth looking like a helicopter or plane. It had a lot of angles all over it so it looked kind of lumpy.

I'm mildly color blind,but this looked thing like the color of an old penny...metallic,but not very reflective at all.

It had no wings, no windows, no propellers, no rotors, no landing gear and no markings of any kind.

It kind of reminded me of a clenched fist where the knuckles were the angles mentioned above.

This thing looked too bulky and non-aerodynamic to fly! It was at about the height where a helicopter would fly...low enough to see well.

It was hovering over the part of Cassadaga swamp that curves around the end of the hill towards Stockton and Stockton State Forest.

I looked at it for a moment and asked myself "What the hell is that?" Lacking an answer (and a camera) and having time constraints,I moved on.

I kept watching it through the trees until the terrain obscured it from my sight.

As I entered the intersection with Ellery - Centralia road I looked back over my shoulder out the drivers side window.

There was the object...looking the same...but now moving quite quickly toward where I had just come from.

If I'd had a camera I would've probably turned left and tried to get some pictures of it. Who knows what might've happened then! (Even though it was April Fools day I don't think this thing could have been any kind of hoax! There's noone to prank out there over the swamp!) I told a few people about this and,a few days later,this one lady said her husband works with someone who lives near there.

She said that this person supposedly saw the same object on the same day I did. I dont know what time they saw it.

Over time,a lot of strange things have been seen around Cassadaga Swamp and the surrounding area! Some of those things have been reported on this very NUFORC website!

A strange "moving star" straight up in the night sky appears every night.

Since the night of August 18,2013, I have come outside at night around 930 pm (right after the sun completely sets) and looked at the clear night sky with all the stars. I love to watch the satellites as well as catching a glimpse of the International Space Station move over head.

Every night, while looking straight up, I've noticed what looks like to a star, except this "star" will move slightly in either direction, sometimes circling around and going the opposite direction, then coming to a dead stop. It never darts across the sky but moves either at a quicker pace or very slow in either direction. I know this is NOT a satellite, not a meteor, not a passing plane. This "star" will move across the night sky with time as the other stars do but continues to change direction very slightly in either direction. It moves enough so that if you focus on something else close to it, you can tell it is definitely moving on its own. It does not pulse or twinkle. It makes no sound. I could not clearly tell if it was emitting anything.

Photo of an orange, egg shaped light, moving in a constant deliberate manner on a south to north course near Centralia, Washington.

At around 12:45 am last night I got out of bed to go to the bathroom Approximately 5 minutes later I returned to my bedroom and got into bed and saw an orange glow on the wall opposite of the window and i noticed that the blinds had an orange light behind them which i thought was odd because that window doesn't look out to a street but a yard, garage and another house. I looked out the blinds and couldn't see where the glow was coming from at first because it was obscured by the house and tree next door. So I stood up on the bed to see if I could see it better out of the top of the blinds and I could then see what looked to me like a fuzzy bright orange ball which I thought at first was just hovering. It was about the size of a dime held at arms length and to my eyes had no defined edge. Just bright, fuzzy and it looked odd, not like a plane's landing lights, a satellite (too big) or the international space station (again too big).

I noticed it was slowly moving from right to left.. I was trying to figure out what it might be. It moved in a very slow, deliberate and steady way. It was kind of windy out so I do not think it was a chinese lantern because it did not flicker and the light seemed almost directional in nature. like as if it were a bright orange spotlight. I watched it for about 10 minutes before I thought to go get my iPhone to take a picture of it. I held the iphone steady and snapped a photo. When I did it was a little disappointing as it didn't seem like much of anything on the iPhone's screen. It just looked like an orange light in the sky. My iPhone is a 3g so its camera is not sensitive enough to pick up stars or bright planets even.

Also as I stated, the object was moving, slowly right to left across my field of view and rose at a very shallow angle of maybe 15 to 20 degrees before it was obscured by the trees in the yard and out of my field of view. It was hard to tell at night but it did not seem to be coming towards me or moving away from me but rather kept a steady course about equally distant from me at all points. The light did not flicker, brighten or dim. It was constant. I watched for another 20 minutes to see if it returned or if anything else would appear before going to sleep.

My window looks South-East and the light was moving from south to north.

This morning when I looked at the photo on my computer I noticed that the camera captured it as egg shaped, though my eyes could not see a shape (it just looked like a bright fuzzy orange ball to my eyes). Also you can see the edge of the window to the left slightly being lit up by the light.

I live in a very quiet neighborhood and can hear planes without my window open. I never hear planes at night and I opened the window and couldn't hear a sound shortly after a took the picture I've attached to this report. All I could hear was the wind.

Silent flickering yellow orb that moved from the North and dissapeared into the East above the city of Centralia, WA at dusk 21:45 pm.

I was watching Ancient Aliens tonight (ironically) and went outside to get my kitty Sam. I go outside at dusk every night to bring him inside. Hes an old kitty so I usually hold him for a while and watch the sunset/rising stars before I go in for the night. So tonight I looked up and about directly above me but a little lower in the sky, to the North, I saw a flickering yellow/golden orb. It was moving in a sporadic, shifty manner towards the East. Kind of flickering and bouncing as it went. It seemed to have an aura to it that caused the flickering effect.

There was no sound and after about one to two minuets, it disappeared slowly, like a candle going out, into the eastern sky. At arms length, it looked to be about the size of the tip of my thumb, a little smaller than a dime. It dissipated silently into a pinpoint. Maybe it was a flare? I just never saw a flare that went up into the eastern sky. I'm excited, this was my first UFO sighting.

3 white orbs traveling southbound near I-5 come to complete stop than dash away - I noted the event on Twitter.

My roommate and I were traveling home on I-5 northbound and were somewhere between Centralia and Rochester, WA, Thursday evening, July 8, 2010. At approximately 22:50, while in the car, I saw 3 glowing white orbs hovering just above the treeline very close to the freeway.

The size of each orb was fairly large, I'd estimate them at between 10 and 20 feet in diameter. The three orbs all seemed to be similar in size. They made no noise I could hear from the freeway. Each one glowed with pure white light.

Within the span of seconds, the three orbs came streaking from seemingly out of nowhere across the sky, towards us from the north, then came to a complete stop, hovered momentarily just above the treeline, then dashed away very quickly towards the south.

As soon as the orbs had sped away from us, my roommate, who was driving said, "Wow, did you see that too?" We then had a conversation confirming that each of us had seen the event.

Traveling from North to South was a single, solid white light that suggested a high altitude object such as a plane. It was night and the light bright, no suggestion of shape or configuration of the craft was possible. The speed of the light was many times faster than a normal planes speed, it traveled in a straight line.

The remarkable thing about this was that as i watched this high speed light for approx 7-8 sec, it faded away into nothing. This was a clear night, no clouds, the object was just past its apex flying across my field of vision, and it just went out. Not like the light was turned off, but dimmed, took approx 2 sec to disappear.

Possible factors: 45 south of McCord AFB and Fort Lewis. Directly between Seattle and Portland airports (lots of air traffic).

Driving home on HWY FF outside of Centralia. It was still light outside sun was setting my husband noticed the "shiny" object first. It almost looked like a crescent moon,except it was not upright, instead it was laying horizontal. It was pretty far away from us. We stared at the object for about 7 min. It was shiny like a star but much to big and not shaped like a star. When we turned onto Rt Z the object vanished! Didn't fade or move just disappeared.

This time it did not pick up speed as it went over the horizon, it just slowly made its way over the tree line.

At approximately 10:35 pm, on Wednesday, April 4th a red orb was noticed in the west-northwestern sky. The craft/orb was very bright and much bigger compared to the stars that shown. It was probably several miles away, and shifted its position in the sky (hovered- the craft was not stationary). The object was silent. This was observed for 4-6 minutes by 4 witnesses. The object seemed to arc as it picked up speed going over the horizon before it was no longer viewable.

Size of object was large at at least 4 semi trucks side by side with very dim lights and no sound at all flying very low over hightway 51 going south for 10 to 15 seconds then fadded out completly. At 9:30 in the evening on Jan. 25th, 2006 in Centralia IL 62801 - I did not hear any news on the radio or tv and I was alone - the object was very low. It was very cold in the low 30s or high 20s so maybe I was the only one to see it but for the first time in my 60 years I did indeed see a UFO. Just before I noticed it coming from the southeast every dog in the neighborhood was howling and when it fadded out they stopped. Is there any way that I could find out if anyone else saw this?

Returning home from shopping with two other friends, we got out of the car with our packages and I noticed this extremly large rectangle shapped object going South on Hwy 51 just out side of the town of Centrailia IL.

As I watched my friends looked at me looking at the sky then looked up and saw it too. There wasno sound and it also looked transparent - it was the size of a large two story building - it lasted about 5 mins or more and we were all three speachless.

It will be in our minds forever. we wonder if we were the only ones out to see it that cold Jan. night. it traveled slow across the city then vanished.

Sighted what appeared to be two meteors entering the atmosphere and another object of unkown origin.

At 4 pm, sighted a straight down vapor trail, ending at 10 degrees above the horizon while heading south on I-5 just north of Centralia washington.

At 4:11 pm sighted another object moving from southwest to east at 35 degrees above the horizon. This object left a vapor trail and we observed large pieces coming off that upset the vapor trail.

This object was visible for three minutes till lost in a squal line of clouds.

A few minutes later an oval object was observed in the east at 120 degrees east of the other trails and at approximately 40 degrees in the sky.

The trail behind the object was to the south. Then object appeared to stall in sky with no trail and appeared to flow south slowely.

Last sight of object in Vader Washington. Assumed first two views were meteoritic in origin. Third sighting undetermined.

Place: Centralia Washington- 4/10ths mile West of I-5 Hwy on Cooks Hill Road & Scammon Creek Road

It was about 21:00 hrs. I went outside to sit on the apartment bldg. steps and have a smoke.

Before I sat down, I looked up at the bright moon. I saw lights coming from the East and heading towards me (West). I thought it was a plane at first. It was off the normal pattern. Only thing I've seen here coming from the East are choppers coming into the hospital here. It had at least two bright strobe lights on each corner. It also reminded me of a plane coming in for a landing. How the lights blend together and as it gets closer they are separate.

When it got within about 300 feet of my position it turned to the North. And that's when I noticed it was triangular shaped, with round lights on all three corners and one in the center of the belly. One red flashing strobe underneath about center. Along with the strange shape it made NO SOUND whatsoever. It was as low as the fighters I saw about a month ago. It took about 5 minutes before it was totally out of sight and it didn't seem to be in a hurry. Total observation time was about 7 minutes.

what would be nice to know is where did witnesses start to see the object to the South of them....Grand Mound?...the sonic boom was not heard by the two persons I spoke with, their impression was that it was a flare fired from about two hundred yards to their north....

Two red circles of light growing brighter ,then slowly dim ,go out and ,then reappear.

My husband and I were driving home late heading west. I was sitting in the passenger seat and he in the driver's. As we were talking I began looking out the passenger window to the north. A bright red object high in the sky caught my eye. I continued to watch thinking it was a plane but then the light slowly started to go dim and then out. By this time my husband wondered why I was ignoring him and stopped the car. Then we were both looking out the passenger window when the light slowly reappeared and then one more a short distance from the first did the same. We started driving again and then turned heading north. The lights continued to get brighter then slowly dim and go out then reappear. We watched the two red lights until we pulled in our driveway and could not see due to the trees. Neither one of us were under the influence of alcohol or drugs. We did not try to walk around and see them through the trees, we just decided to go in and tried not to think about it.

the hair on my neck is still standing,theres,no dought in my mind this was a UFO

My wife works as a nurse in Centrailia Washington,after picking her up at work,we were heading back home to longveiw,when we got to the freeway,I5,around exit 63 we noticed a bunch of cars pulled off the freeway on both sides. North & South bound, we slowed up a bit and noticed people were out of their cars looking and pointing in the sky,I rolled down my window and put my head out to see what everyone was looking at,,thats when I TOTALLY FREAKED!!,and quickley pulled off the hiway I told my wife there is a UFO,, we jumped out of the car,,and were TOTALLY SHOCKED,it seemed to be only 4 or 500 feet in the air, all I remember is how big it looked it was triangle shaped,with a yellowish stobe light pulsateing around the whole craft,I was chilled to the bone,,my wife couldnt believe what we were seeing,,it stayed in that same position for at least 3 minutes,,then it streaked out fo the sky in a flash,,we talked with a couple of motorists,,everyone was pretty shocked,we stayed there for about 15 minutes before we continued home,,I tried to get to the bottom of this,,waiting for news on tv,newspapers,raidio,,and I cant beleive I never heard anything,,to many people seen this how come there is no reports for the public,,,please someone respond to this,this was a clear night,,and it was a clear as day sighting defenatly a UFO,,and the hair on my neck is still standing

Magenta fog after Seattle Lights sighting

On November 14, 1997, as I was driving on I5 North toward Seattle, I witnessed an unbelievable sight. There were approx 16 lights/fireballs that were twisting and turning in 2 parallel lines that resembled a BI Plane. The size was massive and as the lights spun around, they emitted a white flame with orange red smoke. Some cars on the freeway pulled over but I was too mesmerized and stunned. They were slow moving and were visable for at least 3 minutes. After they had passed, I drove through a magenta fog for approximately 1 mile. It was beyond comprehension. 2 and half hours after the sighting, I experienced severe stomach cramps which resulted in projectile vomit of ten feet. ((personal items deleted)) I have never told this information before except to a few very close friends. Sorry for such a late observation but felt that no one had communicated such a personal observation.

Mysterious Red Light Seen Right Outside Bedroom Window

Around 3:30 am a few friends and I were beginning to doze off after a long-gossip session in my bedroom. We were arranged "slumber-party" style, with me and a friend in my bed, and two others on the floor in sleeping bags.

My bedroom is on the second floor. My back was towards the large window, facing the expansive lawn of my rural home.

Suddenly one of my friends started shrieking, "what the....!!!!" We all turned towards the window. A pulsating, orangish-red light was shining into the window. It wasn't exceedingly bright, however, it was exactly level with the second-story window.

I glanced back at my alarm clock for some reason, but there were no numerals displayed--the power was out. The flashing light lasted for about 30 seconds.

We were screaming the whole time (as teenage girls do) so I'm not sure if any sound accompanied the light. Unfortunately, as we were so frightened, we did not look out the window to locate the source of the light.

Finally, my father, awoken from his sleep with our screaming, came to my bedroom. We recounted the story. He insisted it had something to do with the transformer that lies at the far edge of the lawn. He went outside to investigate, and found nothing amiss with the transformer.

After this sighting, my friends and I experienced a few other similar sightings over the next few weeks, cultimating in a sighting (also late at night) where the lights appeared to be coming from the side of the house. This time, they were so bright that a light that turns off at sunrise outside my house turned off.

Although we didn't see an object, I feel that these lights are so unexplanable, as to constitute a UFO.

I was home alone and completely sober on a Friday night in Oct. 1990. I went to bed. I woke up around noon, and my mom was doing laundry, something she usually did on Sundays. I asked my mom why she was doing laundry on Saturday. That's when she told me it was Sunday. I couldn't understand how I could have slept 36 hours without once getting up to use the bathroom.

I asked my mom if anybody saw me the day before. She said that she thought that I was in my bedroom and wanted to be left alone and that my car was parked outside the whole time.

I can't explain how, but my life took on a completely different path after that day. I know things that, but i can't explain how I know these things. Something happened, but I don't know what. Our home was behind the hill next to the airport that Kenneth Arnold took off from on the day he encountered his flying saucers.

A huge triangularly shaped silent object that blotted out 25 degrees of the sky, lighted by four glowing points.

An old sighting. I was a System Analysis for SAC in the early 1960 and stationed at Ellsworth AFB, SD. I have held the nation's highest security clearance, take no drugs, am a tea toddler and have never hallucinated in my life. During this same time I frequently rode to and from the Minuteman silos, in South Dakota, on HP helicopters. So I have seen these aircraft up close and personal on many occasions. I have thus a many year experience with B-52s at close and medium ranges. In the late 60s I had many personal experiences with the C-5A in Georgia, where they were being designed and built. About this same time I saw the Blackbird at Elgin AFB, Fla. So when I say that what I saw over my home in Washington state early one winter night in the late 1980s or early 1990s wasn't a miliary or civilian aircraft of any known type, I am speaking with some authority.

What I saw as a very large, slowly moving delta shaped object that blotted out at least 30 degrees of the nighttime sky. The object was moving from the SSW and headed, thus, towards the NNE. This is an occasional glide path for some military aircraft head from Macord AFB, in Tacoma, about 40 NNE of my home. The object was about 20 degrees above the horizon, but appeared to move upwards as it passed nearly overhead. My young son, Max, then about eight, i.e., c. 1990, was with me. We were both in my hot tub which was located about fifty feet behind and to the West of my home at ((address deleted)) Rd, Centralia, WA. It would have been early evening about 8 or 9 PM., PST.

The object had lights at the front and "wing" tips, clearly making the "Delta" shape easy to see. What was so curious about the object was it's size and the total silence of it's travel. I have never seen a larger object in the sky. Keep in mind that I have frequently seen both B-52s and C-5As takeoff at close range, i.e., right over my head and at very low altitudes. At these altitudes these aircraft must be using full power to stay airborne and are thus quite loud. This object, however seemed to be "floating" though it was obviously not a balloon. I would describe the propulsion as "gravitational" rather than aerodynamic. There was no hint of the roar of these jets nor was there any sound similar to a helicopter or copters. No "thump/thump" of blades. I would say that this object was at least the size of a C-5A, right on the deck. However if the object was at five thousand feet, far more likely, given my impression of the object and the cloud cover that evening, which was broken with the ceiling at about 5,000 feet.

So if the object was at 5,000 ft, "gliding" slowly over head, it would have been many times larger than any C-5A. Indeed this was my impression of this "craft." The entire time I had it in sight, not long, only about one minute, my impression was of *hugeness*. The object seem to be at least a thousand feet across. It is easy to give the impression of size. The object was as large as the oak tree that stands near the hot tub and pool in the back ward. This tree covers about 25 degrees of the sky from the tub.

I add that the lights were not aircraft lights. They were not flashing, they were not port and starboard, red and green lights,. they were white, but not sealed beams pointing down, as they would have illuminated us as they passed "overhead". The "glowed." I say "overhead" because it missed being directly overhead by what appeared to be a few hundred feet, i.e., it appeared to be over my barn and not over my hot tub.

These could not have been separate objects, because the entire sky was blotted out between them. The stars and clouds disappeared between them and this "area" moved with the lights as the light moved. I could not see any metallic "underside," just darkness. Now this entire thing is complicated by the fact that I was not wearing my glasses. So I would not be able to see much detail. I can easily make out the planets, first, second and third magnitude stars. I would say these lights were at least of the brightness of Venus.

My son, however, has normal sight and I had him give me a running narrative. He saw no detail between the lights and clearly confirmed that the entire sky was blacked out between them. I have reported the sighting. NPR carried the report, nation wide, since I heard from former friends, a few years after it happened, when I attended a public meeting on UFO's at the local library (Centralia, WA).

During those years I kept a daily planner and have preserved them, so I could, no doubt pin point the date with some luck and time.
