Background:
We arrived at Long Lake around dusk, with plans to observe the ongoing meteor shower and enjoy some stargazing. The observation spot was on a bridge in the middle of Long Lake, providing a clear and unobstructed view of the sky. The night was exceptionally clear, allowing for excellent visibility of celestial objects.

Initial Sighting:
At approximately 9:03 PM, a bright light was spotted moving across the sky from west to east. The light would brighten and remain visible for about 20 seconds before disappearing. This pattern repeated five times, with the object visible just above the tree line at the 10 o’clock position from where we were standing. After these initial sightings, there was a pause of approximately 15 minutes where no unusual lights were observed.

Multiple Lights and Patterns:
At around 9:30 PM, a new set of lights appeared, this time at the 11 o’clock position, roughly 10 degrees above the horizon. Multiple lights were seen moving in succession, each lighting up for about 20 seconds and disappearing. The lights ascended in a sequence, starting at 10 degrees and rising to about 40 degrees above the horizon.

Over the course of the next 15 minutes, these lights formed various patterns including triangles, squares, and straight lines. At times, an additional craft or light appeared from further away, seemingly joining the others. Notably, one of the lights moved straight up into the sky before disappearing entirely.

We checked a flight-tracking app during the sighting, which showed only one aircraft in the vicinity, but it was easily identifiable as it was much farther east and clearly visible in the sky.

Photographs and Attempts to Capture Video:
We attempted to capture the event using our phones. While the photos did show the objects, our phone cameras struggled to capture good video footage, though we managed a brief clip of one of the objects.

Sky and Positional Information:
The lights were observed to the west and slightly south of the star Alkaid, located at the end of the Big Dipper constellation. There were no clouds or atmospheric disturbances, making it clear that these objects were neither planes nor typical astronomical phenomena.

Conclusion of the Sighting:
The activity ceased at approximately 10:45 PM. After the objects disappeared, we decided to drive north to Selkirk State Park to try to get a view of Lake Ontario. However, despite our efforts, we did not see the objects again.

Conclusion:
This sighting included multiple lights with unusual behavior and formation patterns, such as triangles and straight lines, none of which were consistent with known aircraft or meteor activity. The lights appeared to interact and move in ways that defied typical air traffic behavior.
