In the Summer of 2013 I was on my front porch in Heflin, Alabama. I was looking at the Southern Sky just about dark (central time). I had been looking each night for a comet, that was supposed to be seen in our area. I did not see the comet, BUT I did see this large round object through my binoculars.

The first thing I said to myself was, “What in the hell is that?” I was home alone at the time so no one else saw it, so I decided not to say anything about it. Since then, I have only told my wife. It has really bothered me every day since I saw it.

I just want to know if anyone may know what I saw, and/or if anyone else has reported seeing something similar during the same time period? It is driving me crazy not knowing what I saw!! I am no artist, but I have drawn a picture to show you what it looked like. Per the conversation you had with my wife on 20OCT2016,

I have scanned the picture and emailed it to you, with the subject line of: “UFO Sighting - Summer of 2013 – Heflin, Alabama” It was almost dark and looking through my binoculars at the Southern Sky (CT), this round object appeared. It looked like it was giving off a fiery light and had to be huge!!

I observed it for about 30 seconds, then it just suddenly vanished!! I know what I saw and no one will convince me otherwise.

I will be willing to take a lie detector test, or to be hypnotized if it will help to confirm my statement. Many thanks for your time and assistance.

Low flying angular object seen near Hollis Crossroads. Heflin, Alabama. Jan. 28 2006

Me and three friends were on our way to Anniston, Alabama in two seperate vehicles. It was around 6 and it was dusk. There was still light in the sky and we could see an outline of the object we saw soon after. We had just turned at Hollis Crossroads and were driving down the road when we saw what was either a very low flying object, or an enormous object at a higher altitude. It was trianglular with a flashing green light on it. It moved slowly, or slower than a plane would, across our field of vision, which was the windshield since it was almost directly above us. There were trees on either side of the road and it took up most of what part of the sky we could see. We called our friends in the other vehicle to ask them if they saw it, and they said they had and described it like we did. They were about 30 seconds in front of us and said they saw it going the other direction, as if it made a loop or a circle. There wasn't any airfield near by that we know about and it didn't look like any plane we had ever seen. If it was an airplane, it would have to be either landing, taking off, flying way too low, or gigantic. When we arrived at school the following Monday we found that 1 or 2 other people had seen the same thing at the same location. It was unlike anything we had ever seen.

Huge ball of light seen on the ground in Talladega National Forest/Sweetwater Lake

This occured during a weekend hiking trip with my brother and a friend from college. We had to night hike for a few hours on Friday. The exact location of the sighting was across from a dirt boat ramp on Sweetwater Lake, which our hiking trail passed by.

As we broke into the field that runs along the lake and watershed, the fog was very thick. This is when we first noticed flashing that we assumed to be heat lighting or something similar. By the time we reached the boat ramp, we were away from the field and completely out of the fog.

The flashes were coming from 3 points. Two points were far away enough that the source could not be seen. The 3rd flashing was across the lake and only a short distance inland (I guessed around 100 yards at the most). The light was flashing at various intensity, length, and time. Ranging from a very small fraction of a second to nearly a second. The intensity also ranged from: just enough of a flash to see the low level clouds light up with a white ambient light, to a bizarre ball of light that peaked over the tree line by many feet. When the ball of light was large enough, it resembled plasma. The colors were red, yellow, white, purple, etc. The ball also appeared to move around, by maybe 30 yards to the left or right.

Other than describing it as plasma, my friend suggested the side of a huge water tower was reflecting the flashes at us. There is no structure at all in the area. The flashes were coming from the center of the Talladega National Forest, indeed, there is no plumbing.

I should also note that the "ball of light" as I've called it, was only 300 yards away at most, and completely silent. We watched the 3 flashes for about 30 minutes until they became quite infrequent. It was such a strange thing to see and we still have no good idea as to what it was. I hike there frequently and may inspect the area sometime.

My best guess to date is that we saw military testing of some kind. Heflin, the nearest city, as I now know, has many reports of strange sightings and some other odd things. The Fort McClellan Military Reservation was to our West as we watched the light to our East. The Comanche helicopter was supposedly tested in that area. Also, that whole area of Alabama is a huge military arsenal. The military has installed solar powered sirens throughout the forest recently and some old timers explained that there is a history of weapons buried in the forest during the Cold War era who's keepers died with the knowledge of their location.

Object with bright red light hovered above my car siletly, and followed me for about five minutes then disappeared.

The sighting occurred on a late October night, I had just left my girl friends house and I was on my way back to my house which was about an hour away. Basically the whole drive is on back roads, with not too many houses around just a lot of wooded country. About fifteen minutes into my drive I started spotting a red light that looked far away from me. I figured the red light was a plane or a tower of some sort, but I kept seeing it for the next ten minutes. This red light was not blinking or flashing just a constant beam of red light. Then all of the sudden it disappeared from the spot I was seeing it from. After about a minute or two the light appeared right above my car and it was following me. The light was much brighter now it was hard to focus on the road. I was trying to drive and look up at the same time. The object was maybe 10 feet above my car and I was traveling at approximately 40 miles per hour. It was hovering above me following me for about five minutes. The object made no noise. I regret that I did not stop and get out to get a better look of the UFO. I was scared stiff not knowing what it was. All I could think about was trying to make it home. I called my parents and my friends and told them, right after it happen. I was breathing so hard that they could not understand me. I had my doubts on believing, but this experience changed my mine completely.

December 29, 2000 Dear NUFORC, I’m writing in concern of a sighting of a craft that I saw 13 years ago, and again, recently, an encounter of two crafts completely different in size and shape. First, I’ll start with the sighting 13 years ago, in November of 1987. While driving through the Blue Ridge Mts. Of West Virginia, as a truck driver, I was carrying a load of glassware that was picked up in Springfield, Ohio and going to Roanoke, Virginia. That night I noticed the moon shining brightly to the right side of me. It had just stopped raining and the sky was clear. At exactly 8:45 p.m. I saw this bright light coming closer and closer. Thinking it was a head light on a plane or helicopter, I didn’t think much of it, but as it got closer, I started seeing the shape of it. I began to slow down to about 45 mph (I was previously going the speed limit ), and that’s when it cleared the trees. It was going 3 or 4 feet over the trees, just barely enough to clear the tops. The craft was a saucer shape with a little round dome on the top and flat on the bottom. It had no windows, exhaust, rivets, or bolts—just smooth all over and one headlight shining in a downward angle. I let the windows down and couldn’t hear anything, it didn’t make a sound. I t just fluttered the tops of the trees as it passed. Again, recently, on November 13th, 2000 around the same time, I was visiting my parents in North Louisiana, 40 miles southeast of Shreveport, La. The moon was shining just as bright as in the year of ’87. I was driving in my mother’s car, visiting friends, when I came around a curve, passing the home of a childhood friend and saw these lights in a diamond-shape. It was hovering 25 or 30 feet in the air. At first glance I mistook it for a new light tower, because it had been a while since I had been in the country. Then I saw it in it’s entirety over a cow pasture right near the highway about 20 to 30 yards away. As soon as I saw it I pulled over and cut my headlights off. I let the window down to see if I could hear any sounds it was making. What I heard was a soft blowing sound, like if to blow into a microphone softly. The craft was about the size of a city bus—at least 40 or 50 feet long. It had a white light, at what I suppose, was the head of craft., also shining in a 240 degree downward angle, similar to the one I had saw 13 years earlier. But this craft had 8 lights on it. At the three adjacent corners of the diamond shape, were red lights, and on the sides between them were four white lights. It seemed as soon as I had pulled over and turned my headlights out, did it began to lift up, leaning to the left, then to the right, and then pulled away slowly. I saw it 3 more times over other wide spaces but could never see how the top of it was formed—just the diamond-shaped bottom of the craft. This must’ve been a active night for crafts, because by the time I had made it back to my parents’ home, about 11:15 that night, I saw a second craft. I was standing outside of my father’s carport, just looking at the sky, still amazed by what I had just seen. I then saw another craft flying at a much higher elevation than the first ones I had seen. There were no lights on it and it was also flying at a faster speed. It was about as high in the air as an airplane. It seemed to have a triangular shape with a double-circle on the bottom-side of each point like possible exhausts. It was flying northward. The most amazing thing to me about these stories is that these were three encounters I had had. I often wonder, "why me", because there are very few people who claim to see such sightings. Whether it is coincidental or just a blessing, but I feel special that I had seen them. I don’t recall any encounters while growing up in the country. I can’t give a reason for why I was in the right places at the right time. Nor am I doing this for publicity. It’s just that I believe in what I saw and I stand behind my story—word for word. I thank all those who hear and believe my story. Sincerely, ((name deleted)) Sr.

Parked at hunting spot appx 2 a.m. with vehicle facing west. saw bright light moving north to south at speeds not humanly possible then hovering.

On the morning of January 31,1996 my husband was unable to get back to sleep and left home shortly after 1:00 a.m. He arrived at his preferred hunting spot in the Oak Level area of Cleburn Co. AL appx. 45 min. later. Because this is Public Hunting on National Forest he wanted to claim the spot for the last day of deer season. He planned to sleep in the truck until daybreak. When parked at the top of the mountain and facing west the glow of lights from the cities of Anniston (S.W.), Jacksonville (due west) and Piedmont (N.W.) are visible on a clear night which this was. Shortly after arriving he reclined the seat to nap but noticed a bright light over the city of Jacksonville. This he passed off as a bright star or the planet Venus. That is until the "star" started to move. He passed this off as a helicopter training flight from Ft. McClellan which lay just to the south of Jacksonville in the Anniston glow of lights. His assumption of a training flight was suddenly changed when this light darted at a humanly impossible speed to the north toward Piedmont. In less than a second the light hovered in the glow of Piedmont's lights having covered a distance of about 15 miles almost instantaneously. After a few minutes the craft darted back so that it was again over Jacksonville. This time he witnessed a beam flash downward. By now he had raised the seat from its reclining position astounded by what he was seeing. He observed the movements of this light for quite some time and in fact became bored and eventually drifted off to sleep. After dozing for and an hour or so he awoke to the same activity in the skies to the west This soon after changed when the light was approached by a larger and brighter one which came from the west. The smaller began moving around it in a way that is most easily compared to insects flitting around a light. This seemed to have served to convey some type of message because at that point the smaller light headed straight in my husband's direction. The larger light faded backwar! d in the direction from which it had come (that of Sand Mtn. approx. 4o miles WNWof Jacksonville.) As the craft continued in his direction my husband chambered a shell into his deer rifle. This done the light almost instantly began backing away in the same direction taken by the larger as if it sensed danger. My macho husband who had for years treated my early 1970's sighting as a joke waited until daylight then raced home afraid that his headlights may allow the crafts to pinpoint where to get him in the future. He woke me as soon as he came in saying "I won't ever laugh at you again". He then related the story insisting that we report the incident. We called the local airports at both Weaver and Anniston. They in turn referred us to the Airport in Birmingham who had no record of Military training flights that night. My husband was able to tell them approximate times for commercial flights from Atlanta to Memphis and from Birmingham to Chattanooga that had passed over during these events. We were able to get the number for the UFO hotline from the Birmingham facility and filed a report that morning before 8:00. These events happened in the very early morning hours of Sunday, January 31,1996. Unknown to us at the time there had been numerous reports during the previous night and early morning. Similar sightings were associated with reports of cattle mutilations carried out with surgical precision in the Sand Mtn. area over the course of the next several weeks. Reports were filed by law enforcement officials, city council representatives and other such reliable figures. The area was visited by UFOlogists and there was quite a bit of press coverage. I believe this event had a profound impact on my husband. I noticed distinct changes in his personality almost immediately. He was better able to express his feelings and demonstrated increased patience and anger control. He also seemed more sensitive to the feelings of others. He seemed to sense when I did not feel well. I also noticed that he seemed m! ore protective of the children and me. Although I have questioned the fact that maybe one of those beams got him he insists that it is not possible. He insists that he went to sleep during these events which I feel would have been impossible given his level of excitement upon returning home.
