Fast large lights in night sky

I saw two large lights like triangles with soft edges dart across the sky. The lights were close to each other and looked large like the moon. There was no noise. Because of the size it looked like it was flying close to the ground. The lights were much too large to be something fixed to an airplane. This all occurred near my home and after sunset but before the complete night sky. The time indicated on the form is a broad guess.

I was looking at my ring camera recording one morning on 28 of December 2021 and spotted something going up

The morning at dawn on December 28, 2021 I was looking at my ring camera videos and went back around 1am and while I’m reviewing I spotted something going up from the back side away from the home across from me. Near the area in the video is bunch of trees in the spot my ring camera shown the light of something going up to the sky. There isn’t any nearby airport from the direction in my camera. Also on December 30, 2021 at 4:11am something a little smaller going up in a different direction from the camera. I don’t think it’s a shooting star because they fly across the sky, it can’t be a rocket going up because I don’t live near an army base. Don’t have Palm beach international airport near by where I live and still wouldn’t be able to see anything going up from their tarmac. I don’t think it’s anyone popping fireworks because it was 1:42am and no one live inside the forest that is in the back in that direction. Please let me know what you think and Thank you in advance!

I was driving down I90 Westbound around the Rocky River/Westlake border. It was dark out and the highway lights were on. I saw a green streak of light moving very quickly west at a height of (best guess) a few thousand feet. The light moved very fast and was shaped long and skinny. The light was very bright and it was a green/dark teal color. I saw it for a few seconds before it disappeared into the dark sky. It moved was faster than an airplane and the shape was something I've never seen before.

Object looked like a circular craft that was flying and then looked like two engines were started to help it land. It started with a bright blue light and then changed to white as it looked like it was landing. It disappeared behind the trees. Looked really close but was probably miles away. There was no sound.

Translucent craft with intermittent orange/red light.

The incident I’m reporting occured at approximately 11:28 pm, Westlake, Ohio, May 10, 2014.

I noticed outside of my window an orange/red circular light approaching, traveling at 30 degrees NE (heading towards Lake Erie, which is about 3 miles from here) somewhat low on the horizon. It caught my eye because this is not a typical path for planes or other aircraft, plus it was relatively bright. The light had flashing that was uncharacteristic of a plane (growing bright and brighter, then dimming) and at some moments the light would go dark.

My husband and I went outside to get a better look, and suddenly the light (or craft) vanished for about 2 to 3 seconds. The light reappeared, then we noticed what I can only describe as a small ball of light “falling” off the bigger one, for about one second. This smaller light was also orange/red and left a slight trail. After this, again, NO lights at all for about one second. We lost sight of anything, then suddenly we saw what appeared to be an unlit craft. It seemed as if, in order, the light was turned off, the craft went invisible, then appeared but was a translucent/opaque whitish colored oval. It was almost directly overhead at this point, and lower than the altitude of what a plane would be, but definitely higher than the altitude at which a helicopter would travel. The shape seemed to be an oblong, oval shape that sort of tapered at the front. My husband describes it as an obscure oval. It’s hard to estimate how large it was, but if we were able to determine ! a shape, then that alone should give an idea that it was fairly big. There was absolutely NO noise associated with it, so I can say with certainty this was NOT an airplane or copter. At the altitude it was traveling, we would have heard engine noise for sure. I’m not a good judge of speed, but it seemed to be traveling somewhat faster than a commercial plane.

At this point it went over my building and I attempted track it by running outside (I’m on the third floor so this took time) but by then, whatever we saw was gone. Neither my husband nor myself have ever seen any unidentifiable aircraft before.

I am an occasional night skywatcher and I know space weather when I see it, and what we saw was not anything like meteorites or typical space weather at all.

Saw 3 red/orange orbs in a tiangle formation over Lake Erie. 2 on top and 1 on the bottom. The traveled from east to west. After about a minute the bottom one seemed to quickly travel down and to the right getting smaller till it vanished. The top two continued to trevel east to west for about a minute and then just disappeared. My wife took a video with her phone but it didn't ome out well. You can see two red dots in the sky is all.

A few dozen, low-altitude lights flying silently in a loose formation in a south-to-north direction from inland to out over Lake Erie

Around 10 pm last night (6/15/2013), I was driving westbound on I-90 headed home from Lakewood, Ohio. After exiting I-90 at Clague Rd in suburban Westlake and then turning south onto Clague, I noticed what appeared to be a pattern of perhaps a dozen or so white lights that I initially thought was 'strung out' (perhaps 100 - 200 feet high?) over the rear (eastward) portion of the Crown Water Filtration plant on Clague Rd. At first, I thought the lights were stationary and perhaps were somehow 'hung up' as part of some event on a Saturday night.

While driving south on Clague, I kept looking to the left (east) above the water plant to see if I could locate the origin, on the ground, of the lights. Not seeing that origin on the ground as I expected when I reached the intersection of Detroit Rd (0.3 mile sound of I-90), my curiosity got the best of me and I turned left (east) onto Detroit Rd. and drove about 0.4 mile eastward on Detroit until I seemed to be pretty directly underneath the lights. I pulled over at Hamlet Lane (a "Private Drive" for, presumably, condominiums), got out of the car, and looked up directly over my head.

It was only a few seconds before that point that I realized the lights were not stationary or somehow 'anchored' to the ground, but were in fact, moving! They were traveling from a due-South to due-North direction out over Lake Erie (the southern edge of which is about 0.8 miles due-North of my position). And these lights kept appearing from the south (over the treetops) and flying directly over my head. It's obviously difficult to estimate their altitude, but my best guess would be in the range of perhaps 500 - 1000 ft over my head (although it certainly could have been upwards to 2000 feet in altitude?). At first, I wondered if it was just a whole bunch of helicopters flying in some sort of loose formation (like some sort of squadron), or perhaps small private planes, but they were completely silent! I mean, they did not make ANY sound whatsoever, at least, that I could hear.

I could not make out any actual aircraft, but saw only a white light encircling the presumed craft. Also, they were not traveling very fast, though speed too is difficult to estimate, but it appeared to be a fairly leisurely pace (possibly lees than 100 mph?). From the time I noticed a light in the south appear above the treetops travel north out over Lake Erie, was at least a full minute (or maybe closer to 2 minutes?). But as they flew (or more like, 'drifted') North of my position, there was a considerably larger break in the treetops enabling me to see a considerably larger portion of the sky.

Although I didn't actually count the number of lights I saw in the sky, over the course of this approximate 4-7(?) minute sighting, I saw what seemed to me like literally DOZENS of lights in the sky north of my position! Perhaps 3-4 dozen at a minimum, or maybe even more than that?! Fearing that I might be blocking the "private" condo drive with my car when another car pulled in the drive, I got back in my car and drove a couple hundred feet or so west on Detroit, but not before hearing the occupant of the car that had pulled into Hamlet Lane make a brief comment about seeing the lights also and wondering what they were.

Next, I pulled over at the corner of Clubside Drive and Detroit, got out of the car again, and continued to watch as these lights kept appearing in the southern sky over the treetops, and slowly fly due north. I then heard another car that was pulling into another driveway make a remark to another occupant in the same car, about seeing the lights and wondering what they might be. I replied to them that there were a whole slew of lights flying northward that were completely silent.

I got back in my car, drove west on Detroit, and pulled into the Detroit Rd entrance for the Crown Water Filtration plant observed the lights in the northern sky for another 30 - 60 seconds. Then turning back onto Detroit, I turned left (south) onto Clague to resume my drive home. After turning back onto Clague, I saw only 1 or 2 more lights out of my driver's window over the treetops in the east. Then they ceased. I kept looking for more out my window as I continued driving south on Clague back home, but din't see anymore.

A couple minutes later it dawned on me that I should have used the 2 megapixel camera on my phone to try to record what I saw (though there's no guarantee that my 3 year-old non-Smart phone would've been able to capture any images in true dark). Damn! But for several minutes last night, I most definitely saw a few dozen, low-altitude lights flying silently in a loose formation in a south-to-north direction out over Lake Erie.

For the record, I was not intoxicated in any way (I'm on Methotrexate for arthritis and thus cannot drink at all), and I do not take any mood- or conscious-altering medications whatsoever. While not initially knowing what I was seeing, I did feel somewhat confused, bewildered, or disoriented at what I was seeing. But there's no mistaking - even remotely - that I did in fact, see a whole shitload of UFO's! And although I've once or twice in the distant past seen a solitary, very distant (star-like) light in the sky that might (???) have moved back-and-forth in an 'un-airplane-like fashion) - to which I could not swear - this was as obvious as getting hit in the face with a sledge hammer. I most definitely saw this - I was not hallucinating at all.

Moving ball of Light

After observing approximately 25 UFO sightings during the past 12 months in and around the Westlake, Louisiana area; I am somewhat reluctant to file the attached report which I consider the least of all the aforementioned sightings. However, the sightings around here seem to be tapering off a bit as I have not had any in the months of April or May, so out of boredom from a lack of activity, I submit this report.

On the evening of June 5, 2009 at 9:00 PM, I stepped outside my house to scan the sky before retiring for the evening. The sky was extremely clear and all the stars were visible although somewhat dim due a nearly full moon.

After slowly doing a 360 degree scan of the sky three times without seeing anything remarkable, I started walking toward my front door when I noticed an object lit up in the Western sky about 45 degrees above the horizon.

The object can best be described as appearing somewhat like a very bright planet Venus, except it was approximately four times larger. The object appeared to just appear out of nowhere in the middle of the sky as it was headed North. The object was brightly illuminated for two seconds and would then quickly dim completely out of sight for 10-15 seconds and then reappear brightly for two more seconds. This sequence was repeated three times. Each time the object traveled approximately 20 degrees across the sky before it lit back up after 10-15 seconds.

There was absolutely no noise at all outside during the entire 50 seconds or so of elapsed time of this sighting.

I do not believe this sighting to be a normal aircraft due to a total silence during the time of the sighting, a lack of strobes and directional markers, and the relative size would be much larger than a jetliner at cruising altitude. Also, the speed of the object would have been much faster than a conventional aircraft. I also dismiss the notion of this being a satellite, as it was much larger and brighter than any satellite I have witnessed before. Besides, I have never seen satellites turn on and off before either.

It was not a STAR!!!

I went outside at 3 PM and immediately noticed the unusual low flight of what appeared to be a small military fighter jet. (This was unusual because of the low altitude over a residential area and the fact that not many military aircraft are ever seen in the area). The jet appeared to be circling the area instead of just passing through. I continued to see many low flying aircraft flying low in the area which were likely military aircraft as well, as they appeared to be very large turboprop aircraft and one large helicopter. Around 5 PM, a large orange/white plane that appeared to be a Coast Guard twin engine turboprop aircraft flew directly overhead. (The first that I have ever seen in the area).

At 5:22 PM, a stationary object was observed to the West/Southwest about 60 degrees above the horizon. The stationary object could best be described as appearing star-like to the naked eye except that it was too bright and in the wrong part of the sky to be Saturn or Venus, which were not visible at this time. Already having binoculars in hand due to the "air show" that had been taking place for the past two hours, I took a better look at the stationary "star-like" object that looked very unusual and bright to be a star, and appeared to reflecting the sun.

Immediately upon looking at the object with binoculars, it was apparent that the object was not a star, planet, or a moving object. The stationary object was totally dark or gray on top and extremely brilliant like the sun only on the very bottom underside of the object. The object appeared to be round. Thinking the only "logical" explanation for the object might be that it was a balloon sitting still with the setting sun reflecting off it's underside, I decided to watch the object to see if I could tell if it drifted any like a balloon. I braced my elbows on top of the frame of a patio swing to ensure I had a stable view of the object. After locking down my binoculars on the object for about ten seconds, the object shot off due South barely visible due to the high speed of it's acceleration.

This makes over a dozen unusual "sightings" that I have personally observed in the Westlake, Louisiana area in the past six months. (Many with confirming witnesses).

Follow up on first sighting with second daylight sighting of large bright starlike object the next day.

As a follow up to my 8/22/08 sighting report, I would like to submit the following report of a second similar sighting the next day.

On Saturday evening (8/23/08) at 7:40 PM, I returned to my backyard in Westlake, LA and started a through watch to the South and South West direction. (The same direction that I had observed the “daylight star” a day earlier.

At 7:50 PM, again a very large and bright starlike object appears suddenly to the South West against the still clear blue sky. (Sunset was at 7:46 PM and the sky was still very well lit up at this time).

I watched the object for a minute or so to make sure that it was indeed a stationary object. I then attempted to get the attention of someone inside my home by knocking on the windows while trying to watch the object at the same time. (I did not want to take my eyes off the object just in case it faded away into thin air as it did the day before after observing it for 40 minutes).

After knocking on windows for another minute or so to no avail, I momentarily took my eyes off the object three times and was easily able to re-sight the object each time until the third time and then the object was gone when I looked back up. I remained outside watching for another hour without ever seeing the very large and bright “daylight star” again. However, during this time frame all of the “normal stars” that I normally see each evening began to slowly and dimly appear starting around 8:15 PM. I did not notice any “normal stars” moving or disappearing.

I do not know what this very large bright starlike object is, but I am almost positive that it is not a star or a planet.

Daylight sighting of very large and bright starlike object moves then disappears after 40 min. observation

As it has been my new custom for the past three months to spend my evenings laying in my backyard pool relaxing, birdwatching, and watching the sunset on every clear sky evening possible; I was doing the same yesterday (08/22/2008).

While sky gazing at 7:15 PM yesterday, I noticed a very bright object in the sky due South of my residence in Westlake, LA at the 3 o’clock position in the sky. The object looked similar to a star, except it appeared to be about ten times larger and brighter than any star or planet that I have ever witnessed in my many years of sky watching. It should be noted that sunset this evening was at 7:46 PM and normally stars would not start to appear until about 30 minutes after sunset. (This “star” was out about an hour early with the sun still shining brightly). I watched the object for several minutes and it appeared to be stationary. I then went into the house and got my binoculars to have a better look at it and still it appeared to look only like a extremely large star. However, due to the size of the object and the way it appeared in the sky I would say that the object appeared to be high in the sky but not beyond the atmosphere.

At 7:30 PM, I called my wife out of the house to witness the unusual day light “star”.

I continued to watch the “star” until 7:55 PM (a total of 40 minutes) and to the eye it appeared stationary, but apparently it was slowly moving to the West as it was now clearly located directly South West (a 45 degree change in direction), but still at the 3 o’clock position in the sky. At this point, the very bright clearly seen “star” got fuzzy and appeared to be starting to pull apart and quickly faded away against the cloudless sky. About a minute after the “star” faded away, an Air Force B-52 flew directly over my house at a low altitude flying South Westerly and flew exactly past the last position of the large daylight “star” that had just faded away. I had called my wife back out of the house to witness that the “star” was now gone, as the B-52 aircraft passed overhead. It should be noted that this is first time that I have ever witnessed a B-52 in flight since leaving the military in 1982. I believe that the closest active military air base to my home in 200 miles to the North in Shreveport, LA and any military aircraft in our area is somewhat rare.

I remained outside to document the time that readily recognized “normal” stars start to appear with the first dim star appearing at 8:00 PM and the second at 8:15 PM. The extremely large and bright daylight “star” that faded away against a clear sky never reappeared in the sky by the time I ended my watch at 10:00 PM last night.

For the record, this is my second UFO report filed with the NUFORC. The first and more spectacular event occurred near Kinder, LA in May 1977.

Summary The appearing/disappearing daytime star-like object appeared and disappeared seven times during daylight hours over a period of 12 days. Three sightings were followed by the appearance of military aircraft.

08/22/2008 (Friday) While sky gazing at 7:15 PM , I noticed a very bright object in the sky due South of my residence in Westlake, LA at 45 degrees above the horizon. The object looked similar to a star, except it appeared to be about ten times larger and brighter than any star or planet that I have ever witnessed. The extremely large and bright daylight “star” that faded away against a clear sky never reappeared in the sky by the time I ended my watch at 10:00 PM last night.

(8/23/08) Saturday At 7:40 PM, I returned to my backyard in Westlake, LA and started a through watch to the South and South West direction. (The same direction that I had observed the “daylight star” a day earlier.

At 7:50 PM, again a very large and bright starlike object appears suddenly to the South West against the still clear blue sky. (Sunset was at 7:46 PM and the sky was still very well lit up at this time).

I do not know what this very large bright starlike object is, but I am almost positive that it is not a star or a planet.

8/28/08 (Thursday) 19:35 Observed reappearance of daytime star-like object against a clear blue sky 45 degrees above the horizon SW of my residence in Westlake, Louisiana. Unlike the first two sightings of this object, this time the object was not extremely brilliant. I then observed the object through binoculars and it appeared to be metallic and chrome colored, shaped like a hamburger bum.

19:37 At this point, I phoned my son who was located 10-15 miles SW of my residence and presumably that much closer to the object and ask if he could sight the object. He easily located the object in the same relative position in the sky to him as it was located to myself. When asking my son if he saw the star, he stated that “the object was not a star as it was defiantly metallic, but he was unable to identify what it was”.

19:45 Shot six still photos of the object on a Sony digital camera. (Object appears in the photos as a round white object against a clear blue sky without showing the chrome color or a detailed shape due to the long distance of the object).

19:47 While attempting to locate the object in the viewfinder of my video camera, my son called back and said that the object had disappeared. I looked back up to confirm that indeed the object was gone and no longer appeared against the clear blue sky. I continued to search the sky for 30 minutes without the object reappearing.

09/03/08 (Wednesday) 19:45 Reappearing star-like object appears high in the sky directly above my residence in Westlake, LA. Object remained stationary in the sky.

19:47 Called my son out of the house to watch the object while I laid flat on my back observing the object straight up in the sky with binoculars.

19:50 Observed a much smaller yet very bright star-like object moving towards the original larger star-like object and then it stopped. At this point, I ask my son if he saw the second smaller object without binoculars and he stated that he did not. After about ten seconds, the smaller object moved toward the larger object again. As the smaller object met the larger object, the larger object appeared to become eclipsed by the smaller object and a corona of light could be seen around the larger object with the light at the center of the larger object blocked out. At the point that the larger object became eclipsed, my son stated that he could no longer see the object without binoculars. I continued to watch the “eclipse star” for a minute with binoculars and then it faded and appeared as faint light in three separate spots and then faded out completely.

20:05 Observed a large twin engine turbo prop military type aircraft flying low directly over my residence located in a populated neighborhood.

20:12 Observed a large commercial airline flying low and banking a turn directly over my residence. (It should be noted that large aircraft are almost never observed flying low over my residence located in a populated neighborhood).

09/04/2008 (Thursday) 19:40 Star-like object appears in the South, 70 degrees above the horizon as clouds begin to break at my residence in Westlake, LA.. The object could best be described as a normal star in appearance against the still blue sky in the background. Object appears in wrong part of sky to be a star and 20-30 minutes early for a normal star to appear. Observed object for 16 minutes with binoculars. During the time observed, the object changed from a pale star appearance to a yellow flattened shape.

19:56 Object begins to fade against a still clear cloudless portion of the sky and then appears as faded scattered light in three separate locations in the sky before the object is completely undetectable.

20:06 What appears to be a fighter jet passes directly over my residence flying very low.

(It should be noted that military aircraft are seldom seen in this area over a residential neighborhood, nor are low flying aircraft of any type with the exception of an infrequent Piper or crop duster during the daylight hours).

20:16 What appears to be the same fighter jet makes another very low pass over my residence for a second time.

20:30 Ended sky surveillance without star-like object returning.

It was the week of thanksgiving holidays my kids and thier cousin were out of school for thanksgiving. I was in the house cooking the kids were in the backyard jumping on the trampoline while I fixed them some thing to eat in the kitchen, I could see them through the window because my backdoor light was on. I saw them stop jumping and were staring up at the sky. I was about to walk out and see what they were looking at because I live in a area that is surrounded by chemeical plants and casino lights so the sky is usually pretty lit up and I owe a telesscope and me and a good friend of mine had recently been seeing strange lights int the sky; but before I could walk outside the kids all came running in scared by strange lights they were seeing moving in the sky. I quickly went out= side to see what they saw and sure enough above the treeline I saw a white glowing sphere of light that pulsed blue and amber lights. It was dancing erradically in the sky. You could clearly see it moving up and down, side- ways and it was as bright as a star in fact when it was still you could almost believe it was a star. As we are out there looking at this my son(11)hollers;"Look there are more of them only smaller they are moving too!" I thought he might be caught up in the moment and was imaging it, but when I looked he was right. The other objects looked like dimmly lit stars but were pulsing the same blue and amber lights, they were also moving erradically but almost like in accordance with the larger brightly lit object. My husband and friend showed up and found me sin the backyard watching these crafts. My husband who is a very skeptical was stunned by what we were seeing. He could find a resaonalbe answer for the objects. The craft made no sounds at all and the larger one began to shot out sparks of light like a beam down towards the ground in the woods behind my house. At that moment we heard an aircraft approaching it was a big passenger plane coming from the airport from the front of my house it passed extremly close to the brightly lit craft and the craft still continued its erradic dance in the sky. We see aircraft alot around here and everyone who saw it knows it was a conventional craft. The sightings of these objects is becoming more frequently in my area. I decided to report this event only because of that fact. I don't want to be ridiculed by people but since it is happening so frequently I felt compled to report it to someone who might be able to investigate. If I had a camcorder I would be sending you footage.

NUFORC Note:

Report is not inconsistent with the many report NUFORC receives of "twinkling" stars or planets. They are virtually always reported to have multiple colors, and to jump around in the night sky. PD

Objects left Earth towards Moon

Two high altitude lights appeared in northern sky over Westlake flying in absolute perfect synchronization to one another. Their flight pattern took them in a southerly direction but them seemed to slowly arc towards the west. We then watched as the lights became dimmer and smaller as they flew in a direction towards the setting Moon which was about 25 degrees above the western horizon. We watched until we could no longer see the objects.

Witnessed flyby by a craft composed of six perfectly round, bright lights.

At 21:15 on October 15, 1998, I was traveling west on I-90, approximately 2 miles west of the Crocker-Bassett exit. A light appeared at 10 o'clock which caught my attention because it looked to be an aircraft coming in for a landing. The problem with that was that Cleveland Hopkins Airport was 10 miles west of my position. I was traveling at 60 mph and the light maintained its 10 0'clock position throughout the sighting. It was a clear night and having lived within 5 miles of Hopkins Airport for the last 33 years I know what a plane looks like at night. As the craft passed overhead I heard no sound and could only make out six perfectly round, bright lights arranged in a circle. I did not see it land, but in 33 years of watching airplanes I never say a light configuration like this.
