a light that did not light the ground around me but was so bright i just could look at it then it shot across the sky

I was playing in the front yard and looked up. There it was in the distance, i though it was a helicopter at first because the law would look for moonshiners from dusk to dawn, then it moved right over me with no sound and the bright light did not light the ground around me it then backed off and shot across the sky faster than anything.
