Strange lights over Ipswich Qld 4/12/09

Last night, Friday 4/12/09 ((December 04, 2009)) at 8:30 pm I and two other people witnessed some strange lights in the sky over Ipswich Qld Australia.

The very first thing we saw looked like a plane, but we realised it was moving much too fast. It looked almost like a V shape with red and green lights with a white glow between each light. The lights on the craft were a vertical rectangle shape. It whizzed above us in a straight line until we no longer saw it. But after that we saw these tiny lights, they almost looked like stars, but there were some of all different colours, blue, yellow, red, orange. They were silent, non-flashing and moving at top speed. They were very small but they were quite low down.

This continued for 5-7 minutes, we could not see where they were coming from. Although we could see the general direction which they came, they seemed to just appear.

The last light we saw, however, was quite different from the others. It was bright red, almost glowing. But it didn’t move smoothly though the sky like the others, it was almost like a pulsating action that propelled it through the sky rather erratically, although it was moving in the same directions as all the others, it was not moving in a line, rather, hopping from left to right.

I was probably the most sceptical person about this sort of thing before last night. But I do like to keep an open mind to other possibilities. At the time I was convinced we were witnessing something quite unusual.

What convinces me that it was more than reflection of light or meteorites, is the very first thing we saw that looked too much like a spacecraft, but not enough that I am convinced it was deffinately not a plane.

Afterwards we noticed at Brisbane airport (I live on a hill and can see planes taking off and landing) that the airplanes were circling the airport instead of landing like they normally do. After 5 minutes they all landed one by one.

We were driving along then we slowed down as all the cars stoped fo a red light the my mother said what was that then we all looked up and we could see a white/metallic/like foil object hanging in the air we were all trying to get a better look I moved to get a better look then when I looked back it had disappeared my mum said that she saw a flash of light then it disappeared location unknown time between 9 am 10:20pm I will make another report later it will be more accurate

Accidentally photographed very strange UFO

I have the original CR2 raw files for all 3 exposures from my 30D.

4, 8, and 15 second exposures on a fixed tripod, with mirror lock up and shutter release.

400mm focal length, f/8.

Just stuffing around making star trails on my tripod as i didnt have an EQ mount at the time (still dont =[.. so im building one tomorrow.. a scotch mount anyway) The 4 second exposure was taken on the 11/10/2007, south east queensland at 7:28 pm and 03 seconds in GMT+10, the 8 second exposure was taken at 7:28 pm and 15 seconds in GMT+10 and the 15 second exposure was taken at 7:28 pm and 33 seconds.

It's a UFO, as I cannot identify what it is.

I cannot reason whether it was in the atmosphere, or outside the atmosphere but close by and independant of the earth's rotation or a distant object.

There are problems with all 3 scenarios.

such as if it was close by or inside the atmosphere, it would have to move against the earth's rotation precisely to mimic the star trail found in all 3 exposures, if it was outside, but close by it'd still have to move to match the star trail causes by the rotation of the earth looking at the distant objects.. if it was a distant object, the weird twirly bits shouldnt be there... if it was a stationary object that is... as they also should be trailed out...

I was thinking it was camera shake, but wondered why the other stars were not affected by any such camera shake... and considering the fact the lens has its own tripod mount and i used mirror lockup...its confusing.

others have suggested bugs/insects in the way, but i pointed out that would be blurred out to invisible as the lens was set to infinite focus (obviously) and its 400mm focal length.

others have suggest burning debris... but how could that match the star trails in all 3 photos of different exposure lengths? and on the smallest possibility that that is the actual shape of the object, it would have to move to match the rotation of the earth no matter how far away it was, which would be a great feat indeed, or a geo-stationary object... which it cannot be either as the shape is different in each long exposure, yet defined.

It looked like just a star to my naked eye though, a very bright one, and since the night wasnt perfectly clear or ideal for taking astrophotography, i decided to center around this particular star.

I have anonymously hosted the photographs I took on tinypic.com so as to give you an idea of what i am talking about.

I really didnt notice anything strange about it with my naked eye, or looking through the lens, only after I had taken long exposures did I see it was weird.

We have looked at the black & white photograph, and I have no idea what the squiggle of light is. The other objects in the photo seem not have moved in the same manner. PD

My friend and I were out camping...

two hours or so before hand I could not recieve text messages on my phone, I could send them (with great difficulty, with it saying message sends were fails even though I had heaps of reception in the area) at around 10oclock PM he woke me (for I had gone to bed early because I was feeling sick) as he had seen a ship over the tree line.

I only caught the finishing lights as it disappeared but according to my friends description it was a kind of saucer shape with three golwing domes underneeth and a blinking light in the center of these domes.

he did not observe any noise.

Transparent sphere straight & level flight into the distance during air force air display in Australia.

Last Saturday (02 Oct 2004) I was at RAAF (Royal Australian Air Force) base Amberley watching the model planes before the big guns came out. I saw past a model plane and spotted a clear sphere in the direction of Denmark Hill as viewed from a little north of the old control tower e\west of the main strip. It seemed far away and was traveling east-South East straight and level flight. Its size was 3mm diameter as measured with the fingers at full arms length. Its height was about 20 degree above horizon. Its appearance was of a glass ball in that I could see the complete spherical outline with the left side being slightly brighter. This agrees with where the sun was (not sure of the time as I did not take my watch that day, however the program (I have a copy) states that the model aircraft were on from 10:41am to 11:05am.

Here is more on the actual sequence and timing of my observation: Spotted it while looking at a model (large model, 1-2 meters across) from a distance of about 50 meters.

I stopped following the model (from left to right) and watched it intently for about 5-8 seconds and then I deliberately looked away while closing and rolling my eyes.

Looked back; I could not see it straight away: perfectly clear sky; nothing to focus on anywhere so I strained and then I caught it (10 seconds later) again, now it was smaller and seemed further away and was blending into the blue of the sky.

It only dawned on me then that I had my 35mm SLR and a 200mm lens with me so I quickly opened the bag, fitted the 200mm (took about 15 seconds) looked up and tried and tried to see it again but could not. I raised the camera up and looked through the lens (only slight advantage for the eyes in object size but screens out side light) but to no avail.

What a bummer! If only I had prepared my camera upon arrival I reckon I would have caught it and at a size that would blow up nicely! My feelings are as follows: It was not a balloon due to its straight and determined flight path, its speed, and its size which is difficult for me to work out though it gave me the immediate impression that it was large, say 3 plus meters across. This impression was formed due to my experience of observing aircraft at altitude and distance (ex RAAF and keen follower of Air Force displays) and my rather good view over the Amberley area from my street in Sadliers Crossing.

It seemed rigid, as if it was a solid globe structure.

It did not immediately cause me to think it was unusual as I have seen much in the way of junk flying around in the sky especially paper and plastic bags! It was the fact that it was so straight and purposeful in flight that grabbed my interest.

Logical answers.

Nuh. Can’t think of any. And I’ll tell you what it reminded me of, early in the peace - that shot of the ball flying across the fields in the crop circles documentary that is available on DVD! Except the object I saw was much clearer than the one as presented on that DVD and traveled dead straight! That’s it!!!

A CHROME SAUCER.

IT WAS AN UP SIDE DOWN SAUCER, LIKE THE PICTURE ON YOUR SITE BUT WAS A CHROME. BECAUSE WHEN THE SUN HIT IT IT WAS BLINDING. I ONLY SAW IT FOR A MINUTE OR LONGER, I WAS FIXATED ON THIS UNIDENTAFIED OBJECT THAT I FORGOT TO TELL MY BOYFRIEND WHO WAS DRIVING AT THE TIME TO HAVE A LOOK IN THE SKY, UNTIL IT WAS TO LATE AND IT VANISHED. BUT I KNOW FOR SURE THAT IT WAS A UFO AND WAS NOT MY FIRST. WHEN I WAS YOUNGER I SAW THESE LIGHTS AT THE BACK OF OUR PLACE ABOVE THE FOREST, THERE WAS LIKE THREE AND THEY CAME OFTEN. I DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING TO MY PARENTS AS THEY WOULD NOT OF BELIVED ME. MY MOTHER WOULD OF AS SHE HAS SEEN HER FAIR SHARE AND JUST THE OTHER WEEK SHE SAW THIS OBJECT IN THE NIGHT SKY ZIG ZAGING AND THEN VANISHED. WHEN THE LIGHTS WERE APPEARING I REMEMBER ONE NIGHT I LOOKED OUT A WINDOW AND I SCREAMED AS I SAW THIS PALE FACE WITH BLACK BIG EYES THAT YOU WOULD GET LOST IN AND A SLIT MOUTH. EVER SINCE I HAVE NOT LOOKED OUT SIDE AT NIGHT AS I AM SCARED I MIGHT SEE SOMETHING AGAIN.

MY BROTHER SAW THIS SHORT CREATURE AT THE END OF HIS BED AND WHEN HE MOVED ROOMS IT FOLLOWED HIM. IT IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT TO WHAT I HAVE DISCRIBED. HE SAID IT IS THE SIZE OF A SMALL CHILD WITH SMALL EYES.

I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT ALL THIS INFORMATION IS TRUE AS I WOULD NEVER MAKE UP SOMETHING LIKE THIS. I JUST WANT TO HELP WITH INFORMATION.
