My 10-year-old brother was the sole witness and saw a flying saucer hover above a nearby farm dam for 2-3 minutes before it took off.

I vividly remember getting up early on the official first day of spring on a Saturday. It had been a cold, wet winter and there was not a breath of wind or a cloud in the sky. A brilliant clear blue morning sky and the sun was warm. I had breakfast before venturing outside to enjoy the warmth of the sun. I climbed up onto a disused corrugated rainwater tank where I laid on it, belly down, reading my favourite comic book. The warmth of the sun slowly heating up the rainwater tank had me falling to sleep at times and feeling rather sleepy. At around 9am my younger brother opened the back door to the homestead which was some 30 metres from where I lay. He saw where I was laying and was in the process of engaging in conversation with me when he appeared to be distracted by something to the south easterly direction of him. He immediately moved towards this direction and began yelling wildly and excitedly. He came back and yelled out to me, beckoning me to come over. I said to him, "Is it a fox?" And me, being rather drowsy from sleeping in the sun, presumed he nodded in agreement. I wasn't keen to climb down the tank to take a look at a fox as they were often seen on the farm given, we had a chicken run. My brother kept yelling and couldn't string a sentence together, such was his heightened excitement as to what he was seeing. Eventually my mother and other siblings came outside to see what the commotion was. As this happened, my brother came back and yelled out to me, "Oooooh...you missed it!" Mum said to my brother, "What did you see?" My brother responded he had seen "a space rocket." By this time, I climbed down the tank and walked over and said, "But you said you saw a fox." My brother said no he hadn't and that it was me who thought he had seen a fox. I ran towards the south easterly direction to where he had been moving and noticed the sheep in the paddock had run as a mob and huddled to the corner of the fence line. They appeared spooked. Mum sat my brother down inside the kitchen and managed to calm him down and handed him a sheet of paper and a pencil and asked him to draw what he had seen. My brother drew a flying saucer-shaped craft with either grills or windows around the side of it. The saucer part of the object was a shiny, metallic chrome colour with a bronze-coloured dome. To the top of the dome, slightly off centre, was a pulsating red light. My brother said the object caught his attention because it made a faint high-pitched noise similar to a power drill or angle grinder from a distance. He turned and saw the object hovering above the adjacent dam some 300-500 feet in the air. It was about the size of a light aircraft and appeared to spin on different angles, sometimes on its side. My brother said after he had tried to get my attention and moved toward it, the object appeared to move towards him at the same time. This scared him and he ran backward away from it. He said he saw the mob of sheep in the paddock running from the dam and huddling into the corner of the paddock fence line. He said he watched it a little longer before it manoeuvred onto its side and shot off like a dart towards the westerly direction. It left behind a light pink vapour as it left. My father was working away at the time and mum was left on the farm with us kids. She drove into town to do a food shop and purchased a book on UFO encounters from the newsagency. We all took turns at reading it and noticed some pictures of ufos that looked not too dissimilar to what my brother saw. That night we let the fire in the living room fireplace burn out as no one was brave enough to go outside and fetch another piece of wood for it. Some 2-3 weeks later, Mum spoke to a lady in town about my brother's encounter. The lady asked her when he saw it. Mum said on the Saturday September 1st. The lady, lived on a street on the edge of town with her backyard facing off to a north easterly direction. She claimed she also saw this object at around 9 am that morning as she hung out washing on the line. She saw the object from much further away, travelling at speed in a westerly direction, leaving behind the pink vapour my brother had described. To this day, my brother swears he definitely saw what he saw. Regrettably, I never got to see this object but firmly believe my brother did. Unfortunately, my drowsiness, presumption that he had seen a fox and lack of situational awareness, had prevented me from seeing the object as well. As long as I have known my brother, he has never lied about anything or made up any elaborate stories, so I firmly believe he had seen something other-worldly.
