It was a triangular craft motionless with flasfing lights, suddenly it flipped over and took off at amazing speed it never made a sound

Our sighting goes back to somewhere between 26 and 28 May 1995, when my companion and I were between Caxi and Luang Prahbang, Laos.

At the time overland access with public transport had stopped at Caxi due to insurgents shooting along the road. But it was possible to ride from there, after nightfall, with truck drivers who were happy to earn extra cash.

Around 3 am when we reached a plateau up in the mountain, the driver stopped for a rest. It was a clear night, we got out and looked up at the stars when we saw a motionless triangular aircraft hovering over our heads, with 3 beaming lights flashing, not very high above us but totally silent.

A minute or 2 later, it flipped, the lights went off and it shot across the sky now with 2 bright steady yellow lights and one red light flashing. What amazes me is that it never made a sound and it disappeared at astonishing speed.

We never reported it, there are so many such stories out there already. But now with all the stories coming out on BBC World, interviews with specialists, Mike Sewell's report of a similar sighting in Hertfordshire, I thought it would be a good thing to add our experience in case it can be useful to researchers.

Although I'm a photographer, unfortunately, I don't have a picture. We were travelling at night, my cameras were in my camera bag in the truck and it all happened too fast to get one.

As I walked out from Pakse Tactical AFB headquarters at around 1700, a bright jellyfish-like object hovered above the city.

As I walked out from Pakse Tactical AFB (Royal Lao Air Force) headquarters on a misty, late afternoon, strange lights caught my eyes. I looked up to find a massive, circular, and bright void that filled a good section of the sky. This was the size of 1 football field (100+ yards).

Its luminous lights changed colors. This unidentified object was not solid and utterly soundless. It appeared somewhat like a gigantic jellyfish; a living organism floating approximately 3500 feet above the ground.

The event lasted a long 3 to 5 minutes. Afterwards, this phenomenon slowly swirled toward the horizon, disappearing into the eastern sky. It was uncanny that no soul on the entire airfield had reported or even seen this extraordinary occurrence.
