During the routine bridge watch at sea, on the 29th Oct 2010 2200 UTC in position 03 56S 074 59E, I happened to observe a bright reddish light which was bleak at first but latter it became brighter and I felt it approaching towards my vessel.

Taking up the binoculars, I saw a vertical furnace like object travelling in a horizontal direction at phenomenal speed. In around two minutes time it was past my vessel and disappeared from my visible horizon.

This was not enough, as again on the 30th Oct 2010 at around 2100 UTC in position 01 30N 075 06E off the Lakshadweep Islands, I again sighted a similar object with similar characteristics but this time it was there for around 1.5 hours.

The vessel was travelling at the speed of 14 knots heading north. The objects bearing remained constant for the entire period of its visibility, latter its altitude was reduced and finally it disappeared behind the clouds and then below my visible horizon.

The difference between the two sightings was that the first one was much closer, brighter and travelling fast whilst the second sighting was in a constant position with respect to my ship.

at night in the middle of the ocean ( a light from unknown source inspecting my ship) from 50-100 meter

I was onboard a cargo ship (mv priority) on a voyage from china to south Africa, and as a second officer I was incharge of the navigation duty from 0000 to 0400 with one watch man for look out .

In that night and around 0200 Lt longitude was about 80 E , latitude 5 to 10 degrees S , in a calm sea and a dark sky with no ships or targets or any movement object in vicinity , I and the duty AB (lookout seaman) observed a strong light directly aimed to us the (Control room – Bridge) for one second , the source of the light was about 50-100 meters from the bridge, with no sign of any object we kept looking then another strong light flash tow times to us , the light was strong as a search and rescue light or highway truck.

With no reason for light onboard the vessel (even the cargo on deck was trucks) I sent the lookout seaman to check the cargo but no way that the light was coming from the cargo.

I reported to the captain and another check performed with no sign of light from the cargo, the captain said its ok, as long as we don’t have problem.

I and the lookout seaman are sure that it’s abnormal light and we stopped talking about it because no need to talk about unbelievable issues.

I think if its not a military maneuvers it’s a ufo was inspecting the vessel in the open sea more than 2000 nautical mile away from nearest land , and hundreds of miles a way from other vessels.

Hope we confirm that we are not alone soon.

Light over military aircraft

I am a U.S. Navy Commander, with 3,000 hours in the E-2C Hawkeye.

In late 1993 my crew and I were waiting to recover onboard the aircraft carrier. The ship was located roughly 200nm West of the Maldives. We were at about 22,000 feet flying at 250 knots, so a medium altitude and slow speed. What was most important is we were in the middle of nowhere, and being a radar surveillance plan had a good track on everything around us.

With no nearby tracks from multiple sensors, a bright light shown into our aircraft from directly above. It was an intensely bright white light that illuminated the cockpit and shown through the small cracks in the radar shielding in the rear aircraft windows. It traveled with us for about 5 seconds and then vanished.

We submitted a report to a Naval Intelligence Officer we debriefed after the flight. It wasn’t a light from a metal aircraft, we had good systems and were tracking everything around us.

Bright object seemingly appeared out of nowhere in the Indian Ocean, miles from any land.

We were aboard a US Navy destroyer in the India Ocean. It was a warm, clear, moonless night, with a few clouds on the horizon opposite our direction of movement. We were steaming at a steady rate of approximately 5-7 knots; seas were calm, visibility approximately 12-15 nautical miles.

A group of us was standing on the "flight deck" just forward of the fantail. Although it was quite dark, our eyes had become accustomed to the night from the light of the stars. We were facing aft, watching the wake of the ship slip toward the horizon, making small talk, when suddenly, out of nowhere, a very bright light appeared just above the wake, and looked to be approximately half-way between the ship and the horizon. There were clouds on that horizon so we knew it was between the clouds and the ship, but we couldn’t determine much more about it.

Because of the conditions, it was virtually impossible to tell how big it was or how far away it was. (If I had to make a guess as to its size, maybe a pea held at arm’s length.) We couldn't discern any shape due to its brightness. It was brighter than Venus ever appears, almost brilliant but not blinding, and at first it seemed to be stationary. It was silent, as far as we could tell. But as we watched, it began to move slowly across the ship's wake from our right to our left. When it had crossed the wake, it stopped and then proceeded to move back the other way, from our left to our right. It did this a few times and, during this time, we were shouting to each other the excitement we felt as we were trying to analyze this object and its movements. "Was it moving closer to us as it traversed the ship's wake?" "Was it a solid object or just a ball of light?" "Where did it come from?" "How did it get to where it first appeared without anyone seeing it?" "Did the ship's RADAR pick it up?" We watched in amazement for about three or four minutes, no longer. Abruptly, it stopped its movement altogether and appeared to just "hover" in place. Then, without warning or any change in its appearance (or sound) it shot directly straight up into the sky and within four or five seconds had apparently traveled out of sight, or it had dimmed out. But the general consensus at that time was that it appeared to diminish in brightness because it had traveled far enough away that it simply got too far for us to continue to observe it.

The following day we asked some of the guys in the RADAR room and they all said nothing peculiar was picked up on RADAR that evening.
