In the high night sky, a bright object flashes pulsatingly, rising upward until it faded from view.

I saw it with my friend in the evening around 10 pm Finnish time, a bright flash of a star in the high sky that rose upward. The pulses lasted about 20 seconds, the bright light flashed. As it moved on, it dimmed. We saw it for about 1 minute.

My wife and I observed a square object with bright white lights in each corner of the object moving toward the northeast over the tree.

While we were observing the Northern Lights from our room, I had turned to put my daughter back to bed after watching the lights and my wife cries out “What the hell is that!”. When I looked out the full glass wall window I saw a square object, silver gray in color with lights in each of the corners which varied in intensity. It moved a a steady pace in a straight line from southwest to the northeast. We observed it for about 20-30 seconds and as it got further away it just disappeared. Since we were inside the room, we didn’t hear any sound. The surface was smooth on the side with no visible seams and the bottom had some relief in a pattern with the lights in the four corners. The height was about 1/3 the length of the sides. I sketched what I saw against a photo of the direction and approximate time we saw the object. The scale is close to what we saw.

Standing on its place on a very high altitude to the west of my location very high in sky! Looked at it for 5 min then it disappeared!

Boomerang like oval object. Very dark metal, glowed from front. Flew very high. Not like any human machine.

This object flew very fast and then suddenly slowed. Almost stopped, rounded little like vertical and then went more up super fast. It was like something dark metal where light and sun gave shiney outlines. Here was in same time festival weekend and we know this is wasn't any object from humans. It moved so fast and stopped to fast and then that just flipped away. It was sunny good weather. We saw that from our back yard. Shape was almost like how McLaren automobile logo looks but when that object turned to a little it was maybe also oval?!

I dont know if that only felt like so that they went away, when I pointed them and showed to my husband and tryed to take a photo.. then they just flew away so fast that i cant even say how fast!!

This place has been before to different kind a objects. But that was few years ago. Here is intresting place also because here is that kind a ocean and rocks and cliffs that here has like a place where seems to be maybe some portals or something. Cannot say why i think so, because i cannot say why here feels sometimes like so. Here is that kind a sounds sometimes etc. and please dont think im crazy, im very normal family mother just want to tell that.

I was having taking picture of full moon tonight and something that wasn't supposed to be there got in my picture

I went out for ciggy at 10 pm. I looked up and the full moon in dead winter was pretty. At first I tried to take picture of the moon and the northern star together. That would be nice, but the street light from my side was giving too much light. I deemed the pictures as failure. Then I moved a little to the side to remove the street light effect and got clear pictures of the moon.
I browsed the pics I took and got a shock. The northern star I thought was a star actually moved in my first ruined pictures. And on my following pictures there was something that shouldn't be there.
The object was fast moving and emiting light. It was so fast I couldn't register anything else than glimpse or streak of light. Only in the pictures I saw it was ball shape, but changing shape too. Probably because of the speed.
I am 42 year old woman living in Finland. For living I run a shop in the capital. I'm happily in relationship with my Portuguese man and we have 10 year old son. I'm not drug addict or mentally unstable. I just happened to be there.

Me with my friend were just sitting and watching the sky, and suddenly a triangle appeared in the sky with no sound and moving really fast. Lights were white/yellowish and we saw some black lines connecting the three lights. I saw that every light was in bird kind of shape and first thought they were birds but it didn't make sense at all and I was just shocked.

It flew low and we have no explanation to this but this is what we saw.

1st craft boomerang, 2nd craft disk shaped, Boomerang seemed to be chasing the disk. Light beams and shape changing.

I am interested in amateur Astronomy, was out looking at stars 09/15/2015, about midnight and I saw naked eye a black boomerang craft flying silently about 10,000 feet up, it moved to west and out of sight. Then within seconds a second disk shaped craft suddenly appeared about 200 yards from me flying above a forest and a nearby lake. I could see the side of the hull, which was shiny metal, There was a triangular opening on the side of the craft, from which a greenish funnel of light emerged and swept the ground below it. The funnel focused on me for a moment, then a bright yellow beam of light shot from the craft and hit me, making me turn away. When I looked at the craft again it was slowly moving away towards the north when it shimmered in the atmosphere and changed into two disks and they flew out of sight. The craft seemed to have a mist around it that hid any more details than what I noted.

Silver shepere in the sky.

I was driving a motorcycle on a long stretch near my house. I saw a bright flash on the edge of my vision, but I did not give it much attention and the another flash (like it was pointed at me) and then I saw the metallic sphere hovering above treeline.

I stopped on the side of the road and started looking at it. It moved really slowly and without any sound. I could not believe my eyes and I looked away to see if my eyes were fooling me but no there it was. Many cars passing by and nobody understood to take a look at it. I lookedd at it for 5 minutes.100 feet away of the sphere was a new cellularphone link tower (erected few days ago)

Then, I jumped on my bike and headed home to get binoculars and I stopped after 500 feet to look back if it were still there but it was gone. I have been traimed by the military to identify different aeroplanes but this sphere was something else. No moving parts no nothing. Just a matt silver sphere.

Undefinable luminous object appears over sea

Lest I come over as a demented, paranoid or psychologically maladjusted person I'll mention that I have an education, a job and a wife. I'd rather see a hockey game than attend a New Age lecture, and believe mine is the kind of personality that would correlate negatively with any variety of crankiness (even if I haven't done a statistical regression analysis on this). Basically, I don't, in a general sense, believe in paranormal events, or UFOs, or anything of the sort. Nevertheless, I had an experience I'm at a loss to interpret within a scientific mindset. I still make a small allowance for the possibility that my story might be explained by either the Finnish (not likely) or the Russian military (just conceivable).

My wife and I live in the seaside community of Vuosaari in Helsinki, Finland.

Last winter, on the 21st of January, 2010, at about 23:15 (GMT+2), we were out walking our dog when the following occurred: - First, at a distance of about 750-1000 m out on the bay (Aurinkolahti), in the direction of Musta Hevonen island, a luminous object suddenly appeared over the horizon. Its shape was that of a parallelepiped, comprising two rhombic and four rectangular surfaces. It shone emerald-green, though with a darker turquoise hue around the edges. This first object was some 40 meters wide across its front face and was stationary for about 30 seconds, hovering at a height of 25-40 m.

From this object "emerged" a number of smaller, shining objects in the shape of cones. These were initially bright yellow but quickly shifted to orange, then to a brilliant white, then bright yellow again. The cones were about 5 m tall and about 1,5-2 m in diameter at the base. They, too, were 25-40 m above the sea, but were moving around rapidly, and the color cycling occurred at a rate of tenths of seconds. We saw them go through about 20-30 such cycles (10 secs).

These smaller objects then merged back into the larger one. While this was happening the aggregate object showed several different hues.

After this the object simply disappeared, although my wife spotted a dark, semi-transparent cloud next to the original location (dark enough to stand out against the night sky), drifting ENE towards Pikku Niinisaari isle.

Finally, we saw another luminous object in the shape of a cone some 40 m tall, hovering at a height of about 20 m over the Uutela promonitory at the bay inlet. It was orange in color, but had other bright hues around the circular base edge. This object was visible for up to 40 seconds.

Eventually it vanished completely, while still above the headland.

We stayed to watch the sea for another half-hour, but there was nothing more to be seen. I reported the incident to the Coast Guard, where it was duly recorded.

Friends have suggested it might have been some kind of military drill by the garrison stationed out on Isosaari island, involving signal flares and a weather balloon. I hardly think so, for several reasons. No such drill appears to have been in progress at the time, a balloon, to my knowledge, cannot behave as described, etc. Another possible explanation, at least in theory, would be ball lightning. I don't buy this either, since ball lightning in winter is exceedingly rare. A third conjecture offered is that it was the lanterns of a large freighter passing in the dark. This too is out of the question, considering the shape and number of the lights, their movements and rapid color cycling, etc. Also, I'm somewhat familiar with maritime traffic in the area, since I live right by the sea, not far from Vuosaari harbor.

In fine, I can find no rational explanation for this phenomenon. I hardly drink at all, certainly not on weekdays, and wasn't tired. During my service in the armed forces I was never one of those who thought they saw "something moving" every time they were on guard duty. My wife's mental makeup is similar. In addition, visibility at sea was relatively good.

Orange colored very bright flying object in the sky low altitude, pulling up.

Orange colored very bright flying object in the sky (40-45 degrees angle from me). The object flew from south-west pretty slow and low altitude without flashing and it was totally silent. There was no trail after it. It started changing direction so it finally seemed heading south-east. (About 90 degrees change) At the same time the object pulled up high altitude so it vanished behind clouds. The clouds were very high and thin because of cold weather, -9C (15.8F).

There were many observers present there in the cemetery because it was Christmas eve and people leaving candles to the tombs.

I took a picture of the UFO with my canon digital camera. Because the object was far away and it was dark it just seems to be an orange spot in the picture but it is real. This was definitely not an airplane nor a helicopter.

En route from London Stansted Airport, UK to Helsinki Intl, Finland with Czech Airlines, Boeing 737.

Approximately forty miles south of the Finnish Aland Isles I witnessed an unfamiliar object travelling at a high rate of motion.

At the time I would estimate that the aircraft was between 28,000-32,000 feet in altitude, which inturn I would estimate the object in question was at an altitude between 22,000-24,000 feet.

I first noticed a faint tangerine glow in the corner of my eye, and turned to face it in curiosity. I was stunned to see a large distorted ball of flames travel beneath the aircraft in a smooth and powerful motion.

I would describe the object as a ball of intense, dark flames no smalled than a Douglas DC-3 followed by a thin 'tail' of flickering flames which may have measured upto 150 feet in lenght. I believe the object did indeed have leave a contrail.

Unknown aircraft with red lights over the skies of Hyvinkää, Finland

Me and my big brother were having a barbecue on the big, open yard of his house. When standing in the middle of the yard, one can see almost from horizon to horizon. The weather was clear and the stars were shining in the dark night-sky. We observed many ordinary-like satellites and at least two shooting stars during the evening. I would consider me and my brother as two sane and perceptive young men. We had drunk a few cans of beer but we were not "drunk". This report is filed some 4 hours after the sighting and is written without the participation of my brother.

At approximately 2000 hrs (GMT + 2) I observed a moving, faint, red dot of light high in the sky in direction NNW. I told also my big brother to take a look at it. At first he said that he did not see it, but I used a bright star (Vega) as a static target to point the object to him. Now he also saw the light. The light was moving quietly in a straight line towards SSE maintaining a visible speed of an ordinary satellite or high-flying commercial aircraft and kept doing so during the entire sighting which lasted about 2 minutes.

At first I thought that the light was an ordinary satellite but it was red in color. Next I noticed another blinking red light in the absolute vicinity, on the right-hand side of the first light, moving into same direction with same speed. This observation made me think that it was an ordinary airplane we were witnessing and that the blinking red light was a wing-light or something. However, I estimated that the aircraft was flying at an altitude of at least 15000 meters because it seemed too distant to be an ordinary commercial aircraft yet too close to be an ordinary satellite. Moreover, no sound was heard from the aircraft during the entire sighting.

As the aircraft reached the southern part of the sky the first light started to change color from red into bright orange. Also the blinking red light could no longer be seen so there was only one light now. This orange light made me think of a tail-light of a low-flying aircraft that typically seems to change color as the aircraft passes by. The light kept traveling in straight line into direction SSE and it was still visible high above the southern horizon as we started paying attention to other things. The sighting had lasted about 2 minutes and, as said, no sound was heard from the aircraft during the entire sighting.

My big brother did not take the sighting very seriously. Also, he is no expert in astronomy and was of the opinion that the object we had just witnessed was flying outside our atmosphere. He even said that the object "had it's braking lights on" as it was red in color. I however have astronomy as my hobby and this sighting was someting that I've never seen before so I took it very seriously and that's why I decided to file this report.

My best guess is that it was some kind of sophisticated domestic or foreign aircraft flying from NNW to SSE high over the Finnish airspace.

Anomalous aerial phenomenon over Helsinki, Finland

This is not a personal observation.

Just making sure you're aware of this, more likely you're already informed, but just in case. At least one of our national networks (MTV3) reported (nonchalantly and in passing) in more than one news program a luminescent or highly reflective trail/object sighted over the morning skies of Helsinki.

Two things make this interesting. First, there are apparently quite a number of eyewitnesses, at least one of which had captured very good footage of the phenomenon with his camcorder. A short clip of that was shown on the news program. Though it was impossible to make any definite appraisals based on the few seconds I saw of the anomaly, it moved quite slowly along a trajectory and most likely reflected the rising sun rather than emitted light of its own. But this is just a layman's opinion.

Second, (and get your conspiracy hats out for this one) there was a separate report about a radar malfunction at Helsinki airport starting from 8.55 AM (local time) which lasted for 25 minutes delaying a total of 16 in- or outbound flights. There are two complementary radar systems at HEL, one of which didn't display any traffic during the malfunction. Apparently the system came back online as the GPS synchronizing clock was replaced.

I have no information whether the sightings and the malfunction actually coincided in any manner or form. Apparently neither the Finnish air traffic control or Meteorological office observed anything out of the ordinary during the sighting. An astronomy club pointed out that there is a meteor cloud in the vincinity that might result in "spectacular" sightings.

This is my full knowledge on the subject. If you wish to pursue this further investigate the issue through the news services and any local contacts you have.

We wonder whether the object reported and photographed might have been a high-altitude jet airliner, illuminated by the rising Sun. This type of phenomenon is reported to our Center on a frequent basis. We have no idea what may have caused the failure of the radar system, but we have no convincing evidence that the failure could have been caused by the presence of a genuine UFO. PD

The story of strange satellites REVEALED

This message is sent to clarify my earlier sighting of similar phenomenon last month. This evening I was again walking with my dog but this time my little sister was also with me. Planet Mars was very visible well above the eastern horizon.

At about 21:25 me and my sister observed an extremely bright Iridium satellite flash above the constellation of Ursa Major. Five minutes after that I noticed a bright satellite moving just outside the left side of what the astronomers of the Northern hemisphere would call the Pegasi Square and told also my sister to take a look at it.

At the time of noticing it was almost straight above my head and was heading SE.

What made this satellite peculiar was that it was closely (< 2 degrees) followed by a less visible satellite just as when I observed it about a week earlier (I have no doubt that the objects I saw tonight were the very same ones witnessed in earlier report). The satellites continued into same direction maintaining their less-than-2-degree distance and slowly fainted away about 90 seconds later well below the Pegasi Square.

Also my little sister saw 2 satellites. We both paid attention to the slow visible speed od these satellites. The facts that these satellites behaved normally, that I observed this phenomenon twice within a short time, almost exactly in the same direction and almost on the same hour both evenings made clear to me that this phenomenon has little to do with UFOs, Aliens or Extraterrestial life.

What I´ve most probably been witnessing on both evenings is a formation of NOSS satellites. No investigation is needed. Thank you.

"Unusual" satellites seen over the town of Hyvinkää, Finland

Astronomy is my hobby and I´m quite familiar with ordinary events in the night sky. However, on the stated hour I witnessed something that I couldn´t immediately explain.

It was dark outside and the stars were shining. Planet Mars was visible near the western horizon I was walking with my dog when I noticed an ordinary looking satellite (a spot of light) high in the Southwestern sky. It was visible just out of the right side of what astronomers of Northern hemisphere would call the Pegasi Square and it was almost as bright as the stars of the Square. The satellite was moving slowly towards southeast and also gradually fading away as satellites usually seem to do.

Well, before the satellite was completely out of sight I noticed something strange: the satellite was closely (less than 2 degrees behind) followed by another, very faint satellite. They were visible together for about 15 seconds before fading away and they were moving into exactly same direction maintaining the visible <2 degree distance. The objects behaved just like ordinary satellites. I´ve heard of NOSS satellites and I know that they usually travel in a row or in a triangle, but I´ve never actually witnessed them. This could be my first witness, but I´ve always thought that the visible distance of these satellites would be greater (more like 15 degrees or so).

About 8 minues after the satellites had disappeared I noticed an extremely bright satellite just above the Ursa Major heading north. It was brighter than Mars when I noticed it. Then it faded a little but brightened again for some seconds before fading out of sight. This again was nothing out of the ordinary. It was probably one of Iridium satellites that usually appear like that. I´m much more interested in finding out what the first sighting was.

We went out to the balcony to have cigarettes.After few minutes I noticed something funny: There were five red objects flying fast from souht east to north west. They did not make any noise at all at any time, so they could not have been any military fighters. Saw a pretty bright object streak across the sky at a high speed, only visible for a small moment (approx 2 seconds). As i was driving my car,and had my kids on the backseat,i saw two lights flying over the tree tops. it came quite slowly right over me, only thing i could see good,was the two ligts in the bottom of the craft and dark shape over those lights.the movement of the craft was incredible,it went quite slow over me making a slow turn as it went over me. my brain was in shock,and it took me a few seconds to stop the car.when i stepped out from the car i couldnt see anything anymore.(at 19:00 hours ,it's total darkness in finland at this time of the year) I found nothing the next day when i returned to that road,what could explain this thing,unless i have a braintumor.I'm an skeptik and i never have seen anything like this

Well we were hunting with my son in Kuusamo. We went to the car about 20:30 a clock, and started to bag our hunting stuffs. The sky was clear, and there wasn`t anything weird. I smoked one cigarette near the car, and i saw something in the sky, it was about 10-15meters long, and something between 3-4meters high. My son sawed that too and saied "Oh, my ((deleted))". this all episode taked about 5minutes. The object was green, and there was 5 lights. When the object had left the sky, a man was walking toward us, he asked did we saw that thing in the sky? And he too was unwordless, we called to kuusamo`s police, but here in finland they aren`t take these things very seriously. Im 40-yrs old, My boy is 20 and we both ain`t crazy.

Unnaturally bright light coming from an old, remote dense forest in the middle of a night.

We were in a summer cabin which is deep in the forest of the town of Sipoo Finland. We saw an unnaturally bright light about 300 meters from our cabin. The light came from a dense forest where there are no other cabins or roads of any kind. We couldn't know what it was because the forest was so dense that we couldn't use our old binoculars. We were too frightened to go and see for ourselves. It was there for about ten minutes. We wen't inside to get our brand new binoculars but by the time we got back to the yard, the light phenomenon was gone. The next day we wen't to the site and we came to a conclusion that there could not have been anything reasonable because the forest was so dense and there were no roads there! We were also the only residents by that time for about 4 kilometer radius! All the other residents were elderly folk who wouldn't wander out on such a late hour.

Strange formation of objects seen by 2 witnesses over the town of Hyvinkää, Finland.

I´m an 18-year old student from Finland. This is a report of an event me and my friend witnessed about a year ago. I cant remember the exact date but it was July, I believe. The reason of this delay is that I´ve just found your site and I´d like to give a report.

It was late in the evening, almost midnight. Me and my friend were kicking football on a nearby field when I noticed something strange in the southern horizon. I saw a formation of star- or satellite- like dots moving from south to southeast. I know that there are satellites moving in formations but there were far too many objects here, over ten. The formation of these objects was irregular, but they were moving with a visible speed like satellites. Time to time these objects vanished slowly and then came back into vision. When noticing the phenomenon I told my friend to take a look of the objects too. (His face was heading north while I was the goalkeeper with my face heading south) He saw the objects and said only:"Those are definitely UFO:s." Then we kept on kicking the ball and paid no longer attention to the phenomenon. However, this sighting has bothered me ever since. Do you have any idea, what this strange formation could have been. I can only tell that in July the nights here in Finland are quite light so this phenomenon could have possibly been something reflecting the light of the sun. Birds of course are out of the option. The sun had already set.

Something is out there

sorry my english but try understand. I and my family member went early to see this ISS-satellite. It should were like a point in landscape. well were out and we were watching the sky to see satellite. Suddenly top of our heads flew, infact it flew quite low and it was huge and big, it was too big to be an airplane and planes don't fly so low and it can not be an satellite. I couldn't feel nothing during that time. It had very strange shape, there was many tinny lights and lights were some strange order, it remainds just like flock of birds in plow.it flew from north to south.

in Finland i heard stories about UFOs in Lapland. They have said that there is something going on in Iso-Syöte, there have happen lots of things that you can not explain them.

Blinking light moving very fast in an airplane contrail.

I'm not sure if the date is exactly the right. A few days in both directions at most. I was sitting out on my balcony taking some sun as it was a clear warm cloudless day. As I took a break from it I watched an aircraft fly over me at cruising altitude leaving a contrail. There is a flight corridor right overhead (west -> east) for most likely intercontinental flights. About five to ten minutes after the aircraft went out of sight (balcony's ceiling). I noticed a bright white light moving thru the sky. It was a constant blinking light in about one second interval, moving in my point of view in the exact same place and direction as the contrail left by the recent aircraft. But the speed was 6 - 8 times faster (or even more) than the normal aircrafts that slowly move across the sky. There were no change of speed what so ever. I didn't see any object during the "no light" period. Maybe it was behind the contrail. But the blinking light was so strong it seemed to be below the contrail. This made me think this thing was actually moving IN the contrail. The contrail wasn't affected in any way as it was slowly disappearing. The size of the light was about twice of a big airliner flying at cruising altitude. I'd say the light moved over the part of the sky I can see (about 40% of total) in about 15 seconds.

The huge speed, bright blinking light, moving exactly where the contrail was, made no sense to me and still I'm wondering what it was.

A star-like object moved slowly but clearly until disappeared behind trees.

I saw a bright star-like object quite low in the skies above Helsinki. It moved very slowly but clearly, taking maybe 20 minutes to disappear behind trees. It lost luminosity while it moved, at first looking like a very bright star and finally quite dim. I also saw a very similar moving star-like object near Kauhava around 12/22/99 6 am (date and time uncertain) for maybe five minutes before it disappeared behind trees. It was by far brighter than the brightest planet or star I have ever seen. Neither of the objects was certainly not an airplane, satellite or meteorite.

It was an evening. I and my Dad were sitting in the livingroom and watching the TV. And all suddenly I said to my Dad "Look! there is some really strange cigar shaped crafts/lights in the sky!" We just watched them about half an hour and then they disappeared. They looked pretty big, three was in the sky. And I noticed, that there was about 8 red lights in one of the crafts. They were yellow and quite big ones. I don't give you my information.

Blue-green shifting colored fireball lookalike object flying at a relative low above sea level at a very high speed in Finland

Blue-green shifting object, flying at a very (tremendous)high speed across the horizone, in a straight direction. It was very difficult to estimate the height of the object as it passed above the sea and the forrest. I would still believe that it was about 200-500 meters above sea-level. Many people saw it because we were waiting at the pubblic car-ferry to take os from one island to another in the finnisn (Finland) archpipelago. I am sure it was not an army aircraft (like the F18 Hornet) because of the speed and colors of the object. Later on the same day we contacted the Flight Controll at the airport of Turku in Finland and they told us that similar observations had been made more north in finland during the same time and day. Anyway, they told us that it was "Space-Trash", I do not know what that means but that´s the explanation they had.

In 2-3 days we heard from some news there had been some russian rocket experiment or so that night, that however don't explain why light was going from west to east, Russians don't start their rockets from Sweden or Norway. Suddenly a big, bright red circle appeared to the sky!

I was eight years old then (22 now), but i can still remember it like yesterday. Me, my brother and my mother were at the consert of Janis Parios or what ever it was at KOS. The place was on the beach boulevard, some big parking lot. The consert started around 21:00 so it was dark then. It was getting a little chilly so my brother went to sit on my mothers lap (arms). I was sitting next to them and i was getting bored so i started to look at the stars. There was no clouds, beautifull night. Then suddenly a big (little smaller than a full moon), bright red circle appeared to the sky! It came from nowhere just like that! Just like someone would've turned on the lamp! I was stearing it and i said: mom, look! Guess she didn't hear it at first. Few seconds went and it rapidly started moving at very high speed! It flew maybe two times the diameter of full moon and disappeared just like that! Just like the way it appeared, like this someone would've turned the lamp off! It left a red trail behind! Diameter of this trail was the diameter of this circle. All this happened in maybe 6seconds max. My mother and my brother soo this read trail. Then it slowly disappeared too. So anyone who looked at the sky then would've seen it. This has been bothering me ever since. Hope to get an answer some day...

Diamond or kite shaped cluster of high altitude red lights that changed to horseshoe pattern and zipped to the horizon.

During the winter of '79, in Finland, while my buddies and I were taking a sauna bath in the apartment complex where they lived. They were finished and were "cooling down" outside on the balcony during the mid evening hours on a Satuday nite and the four of them were having refreshments to rehydrate and rest from the broiling sauna-The Finns like it hot!-

one of my buddies looks up into the clear starry night and gets the other 3 to also see a series of red lights moving around straight overhead at above 1000 feet in altitude and watch as the the lights maneuver around changing patterns in a formation of sorts.

They described the event to me minutes after it happened. The pattern was at first a shifting kite/diamond shape directly overhead that reorganized into a horseshoe pattern of red lights and sped/zipped to the horizon at high speed. They did not discern a solid shape or hull of a craft only the red lights changing patterns and departing at a phenomenal speed - one second or two to get to the horizon and out of sight.

No prank was played on me as the four buddies were missionaries for the church and no one gave the slightest hint of this being a joke on me. They drew on paper the light patterns and said that they behaved like separate objects rather than off and on lights attached to a single craft or hull because of the jigglly positioning or jockeying the lights did when changing from the kite shape outline formation to the horseshoe formation. Then they departed in a locked in formation as "one" entity.

This event was quite possibly recorded in one to four journals as we each kept a journal of our stay in Finland.

Light ball flew slowly over forest, stopped and landed there

It was dark and clear sky, no Moon visible, wintertime and temperature was below zero.

I and my uncle were standing in the yard of my grandparent's farm-house in rural country and other uncle made some work farther away.

Then I suddenly noticed a car-sized, bright, white, clear-cut and slow-moving round Light Ball what flew just about 5 meters over the top of trees. I attracted attention to my nearest uncle saying look at that. The object was totally silent and its distance from us was about 400-500 meters. It situated about 100 meters from the edge of forest and went horizontally about 300 meters to the west according the edge of forest.

While we were watching it, the object suddenly stopped and stayed a moment in place. Then it landed very slowly and slightly diagonally to the forest and disappeared finally there.. Afterwards, my uncles didn't talk about it at all.

Hearsay (my granddad now dead) saw greenish light travelling above road (good visibility to road) for 2-3 minutes. No sound.

This is one old and "hearsay" report so ditch it if you wish. Anyhow I've never told anyone but... Here's the thing: My grandfather (now died) told me in early '80's when I was very young, 10+ years of age, that he saw a green ball of light moving (following a road) towards "south" (see GPS/map I give later). I thougtht he was referring to late 70's or early 80's-it doesn't matter since no local paper gave confirmation.

My grandmother did say (at the time granddad told me) "don't tell him odd things" and still my grandfather (known never to take any alcohol and/being totally sober from drugs also-I just mention this since drugs are common in some countries now-a-days) insisted on the sighting. He said it was nothing spectacular/odd, just a cigar-shaped 30/200cm ball of green light never seen by anything he had seen/read about. (He had nice library I quite liked it) and he was not least ashamed nor quiet about it if anyone asked. He even called local newspaper "Etelä-Suomen Sanomat" about it (next morning), but nobody else had seen it. So he really did not go to any trouble telling about it, just stated me the facts.

My first time hearing about it was when I read and told him (in dinner table, later) about advanced flight (I told stuff about "planned aeroplanes 2 mach" I'd read in a book in his bookshelf-there were so many books... At my age I did not think he had had time to read them all-now I'm sure he did not because I can say he never read/understood the german/russian/hungarian books in the shelves).

I didn't make much of it at the time (nor anytime later since now), but you might be able to find out on our local newspaper ? (if You're interested, I still think it was marsh-gas, plasma, or equivalent natural though unknown phenomena). And poorly described. But it was obviously larger than a "torch" worn by persons/car/bike, nor did it "sparkle".

Location of the sighting was from north to south via road (above road, not touching it). Speed was nothing spectacular, just 50km/h or so. Like a fast moving car but there was nothing below it, and it just took the road(looked like it) since there were pines all around. Viewer lost sight when the road ended (up+south there's a T-intersection-both sides left&right and up(even steeper hill) had lots of pines and some leafy trees) and not a clue which way the thing took off. If it'd taken up it'd have been seen against Salpausselkä, so obviously it took of right/left or disappeared.

Terrain: There is very old granite hills East (spelling?) but some very deep ditches of marsh (North) and there a never-drying lake with no river out. I can draw if google doesn't provide/if you insist, the landscape is'nt too different today I could take a picture if I thought it made any difference... It should be obvious in google maps ? All the area around is max 100mx100m private properties, each one with one house. Odd nobody else reported seeing it.

He especially stated there was no sound.

View to the first end (looking right-hand) of the sighting is blocked by lots of birches, so he propably saw it from the intersection of mäyränkatu/purokatu towards south (near road). There's an opening, a small pond, so it is not sure the light followed road, but behind that opening there's a very tall hill so it was between the hill and the viewer. The hill curves back towards road rising so the thing was seen either back on the road or going all the way the road. Finally it went up the hill&road towards the T-intersection near/where he lost view of it.

Sorry I did not proofread this report with any program, but I'm not too interested in spelling mistakes. Also I do repeat things my granddad said with emphasis. This is the only "odd" story I heard from him (or I heard anyone else about him telling).

After all I think this is just another swamp-gas/plasma thing-I just thought I'd submit another unverifiable "heard from someone of" sighting... (oh, you can call the "rather big" newspaper about things near mäyränkatu/purokatu but you better send the email about the names while in phone-or have someone talking Finnish:). http://www.ess.fi/ <- not even sure anyone recorded...

Please do not contact my grandmother she's very old (oh yes, I do say THIS because otherwise you would bother her:she will confirm anything I say). If you prefer just dismiss this report rather than contact her. Other persons do not know (maybe my 2 uncles but I've never asked-and anyhow they don't have 1st hand experience and one is a drunk).

I clicked "aura" around the object since it was floating and he said there was nothing below it-I figured out it's green glow reflected from the road and nearby objects... But this was only my thoughts, didn't think to ask about it.

ps: I have never seen UFO myself, not even sure where they come from, and my grandfather was in the war and did not tell stories about it at all, just stated it was horrible->do anything to avoid, even "give some leeway to russians until country's in danger again"... Still he did tell me this in a matter-of-fact stuff, he didn't believe in aliens or anything like that.
